PanteaDropper reacted to BlueChinchillaEatingDorito in Have you heard of a super amoled screen fixing itself?
It's not unusual to see a phone with smashed glass but an otherwise fully functional display. My best guess is the display cable connection was a bit flakey from the impact when the glass got smashed. So the display was always fine. Similarly, you could have cracked solder joints on the main board that prevent the device from functioning but give it a few nudges and everything is back to normal.

Over the last few days, we have made some great progress on this build. We now have our hard lines fitted and once filled, gave the system a solid 24 hours to ensure we had no leaks.

Coming from the pump into the bottom of the Alphacool block did throw up a small snag. The fitting wouldn’t tighten all the way into the block as the block mounting plate got in the way and so we have had to use an extension to get around this. We would have come into the front of the block but we wanted to do something a little different given that we have so many posts on the block and if we had, the final bend would be really tight.

Our coolant comes from Mayhems and is the same as we used on Pure Pastel, we think here though it has a totally different effect and works well with the silver too.
For wiring up the system, we cant get parts in to make our own cables and so we are using the standard outfit that comes with the EVGA 1000 G+. Given the amount of cabling that is visible, and the circumstances, its not a big deal and we dont think it detracts from the build too much.

Back to cooling and fans, our front 120mm BitFenix Spectres are actually placed slightly different to the case specs, we have done away with the front fan filted to fit the fans externally. We can still mount the glass front to the case for some nice RGB from the fans and front EVGA logo.

We are quite happy with how the silver turned out and adds a lot of light to the DG-77. All our case panels, except the rear shroud, are now back on. We just have to get the RTX 2020 XC Ultra fitted now and it will really start coming together.

Our last detail will be the backlit logo panel to the front, we are making our own Mistral panel for here and then we can get everything back together ready for final pictures.

PanteaDropper reacted to AngryBeaver in Zotac has the worst customer support so far.
If the card has a warranty then it WOULD be Zotac who needs to replace it. That is how a warranty works. That being said EVGA is definitely the best for RMA's. That being said most of these companies offer "Advanced" Rma's. This normally consists of them shipping you a card and you shipping that one back at the same time or they ship you one and you ship yours to them once you have the card.

This means you won't be without a card for an extended amount of time, but also means in the event your card was damaged by you... then you might get charged for the new card.

*Edit* If I was you I would lean harder on Zotac, They have a legal obligation to replace the card if under warranty. So just keep contacting them until they finally uphold their end of the warranty.

I deal nearly daily with US-based suppliers. For the most part its usually painless, I have found USPS/Canadapost to be the best method of shipping if i am crossing the border with parcels. Anything made in the USA does not have duties applied, but taxes will be added. For larger item's or expensive orders i ship to a cross border parcel service. I am about an hour away from a close cross-boarder town that has many parcel holding places, so on larger orders it just makes sense to spend the time to drive and pick things up esp when often times there is free shipping to the lower 48

As stated in the Symantec article I linked, there are a handful of iOS malware because of vulnerabilities:
But then Apple has the advantage over many Android OEMs as Apple controls both software and hardware and they can quickly patch these vulnerabilities. So I'd rather say it's less likely to happen on up to date and not jailbroken iPhones.

This is the same BS arguement that console gamers use about PC. "You have to upgrade every single year". You do not need to upgrade at all. All Xbox and PS4 games run on the new consoles and old.  Also, there are plenty of sales for PS4 and Xbox during holidays and that come with the subs. PC games are not THAT much cheaper.

Air to me is more reliable and cheaper , not to mention the speed gain to me isn't worth it.

honestly if i could run a vw engine in my car and eliminate the radiator I would do it just to simplify the engine more.

    It was just an example

I suppose a modern example would be watercooling/overclocking maybe a socket 1366 cpu. While it is doable , there do exist much quicker and less power hungry stock air cooled cpu's. Most wouldn't recommend water cooling a 1366 system today of course.

So as such , I wouldn't recommend it for a new system either. Because sure enough there will be a cpu platform that will exceed it's speed and efficiency with no overclocking on air. So might as well save some money for  better future components than trying to push an older one nearer to the newer component.

Full disclosure, I've never used water cooling, but I don't like the idea of it either.  And the idea of getting more performance out of parts is great but (and I know some will definitely disagree) if I could hit a button and get a perfect overclock, I would definitely take that over doing it manually any day.

I've been consulting/building machines ever since 2005 and I don't think there was ever a time when I thought water cooling or overclocking was a good idea or worth it.

Now if you do overclock and water cool , then good for you more power to ya. But it's not my cup of tea nor do I ever recommend it to others.

Just curious if anyone else is sort of in this same boat.

Extra tldr fluff you can skip :

I usually don't recommend it as the cost doesn't seem quite worth the hassle of dealing with/maintaining a water cooling system. Nor do the gains from overclocking seem worth the small risk that the components may have a shorter lifespan or fail. The time frame of how much computer parts progress seems to outpace the advantages of overclocking to me. The biggest time to see this type of progression was when people ran water blocks on their overclocked pentium 4's and 6800gt's only for a few years later to be 6 times slower than more efficient machines running at stock speeds on air cooling. I only just recently came across an old geforce 7950 which had an old water block on it and it made me laugh to think someone would water cool a card like this. I feel as though rather then spend 100$ on water cooling a slower component , maybe save it and wait till you have 200$ and get a component that already reaches the speed you would have overclocked to but can do it on air.

I agree with the sentiment, but I can't help but notice 1+ prices have been steadily growing for each release, apparently without much of a reason. 500€ is not that far from what the likes of Samsung demand for their flagships. I could see their point better when their best phone was 350 bucks.

Its not about performance, but about reliability.
You pick console if you want a gaming platform that just works and you dont want to worry about anything about it, just to play games you like. Believe it or not 26-30 fps games are playable and there are games that goes above it, the graphics may be different than the monster pc has, but only to the degree where developer is putting shiny technologies into the game, most of the games looks pretty much the same, so its not about the graphic aspect anymore.
Its cheaper to buy a console, and the games prices difference is meaningful, since if you are purchasing the game its either a price drop cheapest or the release date where on both systems the prices are the same.
Sure you have to pay a sub to the console if you want to play online, but you get a lot of stuff from it, like games on double price drop or game boosters, dlc and stuff like that, all the good things at least on ps plus gives the money back to you anyway. Not to mention free games you are receving, also the subscribtion is not that all expensive, you could get it cheap on black friday or buy cheap from ebay, like 70% of the original price.
I have bought ps plus 1 year for like 37 pounds i believe, its 3 pounds a month for a subscribtion, which gives me at least 1 decent game a month, thats dirt cheap literally.

And why i choose the console over a pc, even if im not short on cash and could buy a decent rig myself?
Its all about the stuff you are wasting times and take away the comfort of gaming if your demanding are higher on PC, because you expect to play in perfect 60 fps with all the settings is not the cheap and time saving thing at all.
I was a PC gamer my whole life and i got sick of it already, each game i had to gradually set up graphic settings if not ingame then in nvidia experience and nvidia panel and so on, to squeze some extra juice out from it. With the PC its the weird feeling when you are playing the game you have it on back of your head thinking you could run this game better, you could get more fps, you could do that and that, and instead of just enjoying the game, you spend a lot of time to figuring out how to play your game better than you are playing now. Should you buy better hardware because you dont want to turn graphics down? Maybe something is wrong with you computer and you need too troubleshoot it each day? Maybe your PSU doesnt handle the task, maybe your GPU got some PCIE connections problem, what kind of OC should you use auto or manual? does your temperatures doesnt throtle my rig? Ecetera ecetera.
You are telling yourself, naaah its not like that i could play my games on superior platform and enjoy it, then you realize there are a hundreds of thousands of people who are asking the same questions (of which linus is one of them), questioning their rigs, their setting and stuff like that to achieve that legendary "smooth awesome gameplay" you are wondering about how to play like it.
Aaaand you end up spending five times as much as you would play on console, and wasting the time because you had to do research.
Life is strange, so at least make it as easy as possible, get a console and just play it, simple as that.

PCs are more of a hobbyist market.

That's like telling a car guy that, you know, prices for mustangs are pretty up there right now, I guess I'll just buy a Nissan Sentra and forget about it.

Prices for video cards do stink right now, but you can still build a "console killer" for the cost of an xbox one x.

With that said, yeah, the 4 year old PS4 and Xbox One can both be had for cheap and will play games well. However, the PC side of things is more hobbyist.

I don't turn on my PS4 and talk about it, I turn on my PS4 to hop into Destiny and play with the boys.
