i'd go for the 2600 + 580. in a year or two he'll only need to upgrade the gpu. if he goes for the 3400, he'll have to upgrade cpu in a year or two

There's always the option of buying a processor like Ryzen 3600 for example, and use it for a couple months or until 3950 is easy to order, in stock.
Then buy the 3950 and sell your 3600 for something like 10-25% off - you'll easily find buyers for a popular/competitive processor like Ryzen 3600
The 3600 is probably more than twice as powerful as 3770k
 
Or buy a Ryzen 2600 for ~115$, it's probably 50%+ more powerful than 3770k ... sell it for 75$ or more when 3950x is in stock.
 

So my problem is this. I need to know which 2070 super graphics cards are compatible with water cooling(i'm trying to use hydro x). I've tried using the corsair compatibility list but it has told me multiple times now that some of the 2070 super cards are compatible. Then when I try and use the custom cooling configurator it tells me they're not supported. This is my first attempt at custom water cooling.

In the new year I’m wanting to upgrade my graphics card. I’m currently running an Inno3D GTX 1050Ti and it’s just not cutting it in games anymore. I’m looking for something to pair with my Ryzen 5 2600. I thought about the 5700XT but I wanted to know what others think is a good idea. I do like the thought of an all AMD setup and they have made some pretty big moves over the last few years.

There is huge lag spikes in Heavy Rain. Sometimes it hangs and internally resumes but video gets stuck. Tried different drivers. Some were worse than others. But nothing fixed it.
Tried removing throttling using throttlestop. That only removed some jitter. But hanging issue is there. This is less noticeable in other games.

Greetings everyone.The past 2 days i am experiencing some really weird artifacts when i try to launch a game.A flickering bright and colorful line will appear that comes down on the left side of my screen.Please help.Drivers are up to date,windows too.

It might not be dead. Try taking out the cmos battery for a few minutes and trying again

It's completely fine to be left on 24/7 for years.  Computer components do not need to "rest", they just need to be kept cool.  Just make sure to blow any dust out of the system with compressed air a few times a year and it will be fine. 

Don't use task manager to check you usage, use msi afterburner or something similar.

Just keep your 1060, 1080p60 on your current monitor will play just fine.  Unless you upgrade your monitor you will just be wasting your money.

Definitely try to get any 6 core Ryzen if it can be squeezed into budget.  That will last a lot longer before needing upgrade.  What about a 1600 +SSD, can that be found within budget?

your gpu should be running at 100%? I don't see why it would be crashing because it runs at 100%.

They can't be used in SLI so if you put a second one in your computer you won't see any benefit. 

I would give it a couple months. Check out the offerings from MSI, Sapphire and other board partners.

I posted a topic yesterday about the glitch 5700. I'm not sure about the XT, but when you download the software from AMD's website, do not use the auto-installer. There is a bug in the download that won't let you access many apps or games. Once you ONLY download the AMD software and the newest driver, you should be good. I haven't had any problems since I uninstalled the auto-installer.

Yeah put a gpu in and plug your TV in. You need a gpu with it since there is no onboard.

I'd look at what options I can afford, figure out what I'd like to do with the PC, find as many benchmarks that are representative of what I want to do on said hardware, and make a decision based on that.

Do you already have a 2400g? You could get a 2600 for about $10 more.  6 core 12 thread.
 
For the price difference I would grab the 8gb

Don't buy the 9900k. Take a 5% gaming performance hit to save yourself $150. The 3700x is so much better value and beats the 9900k by a whisker in the majority of non-gaming tasks. And it consumes literally half the power consumption in some tests. And not only that, you also get a free cooler with the 3700x as well. And you can pair it with a decent b450 board and be just fine. That's even more money saved. It's crazy to get a 9900k at this point.
 
There is no reason to get the 9900k other than to brag about a tiny gap in performance. 160fps is better than 150fps, but is it actually noticeable? Absolutely not.
 
If you want to brag about something that's worth bragging about, that's what the showpiece 3950x is there for.

get the R5 3600 and the rest of the system, keep your old graphics card for a couple of more months, save money and get something like a GTX 1660Ti.
