  1. Saw this on the internet and just had to post it! I hope Linus sees it!
  2. Ok- so now I switched them back and all seems to be ok,but there is no option in the BIOS to control Fan Speed, it's an older HP that I've had for a long time- It's running an I7 "Lynnfield" core processor.at,2.93Ghz. I mainly use it for editing audio files. It's running pretty quiet now.just have to keep an eye on the temps.
  3. kelvinhall05, I did that, and got a warning that there was no CPU Fan connected. So I switched them. Now the motherboard thinks that the radiator fan is the CPU fan.
  4. Hey everone! I have an older HP Motherboard that only has one CPU Fan Connector(4Pin) and a 3pin Chassis fan connector. It is an HP Compaq MS-7613 VER:1.1 Socket 1155 Motherboard 612500-001. I have a Corsair H55 AIO hooked up with the radiator fan connected to the CPU header and the pump connected to the SYS/Chassis connector. It's working, but the fan is running full speed all the time. Is there a way to control the fan. The H55 does not have the Corsair Link capability- any help would be appreciated!
  5. I'm trying to decide on whether to wait for the Ryzen 3000 series to come out before building my next gaming rig. SHould I wait, or go with a 2700X? Thoughts?
  6. I've watched a few YouTube videos about remapping the keys, but it is my understanding that, that has to be done for each game, everytime you play it. I may just try a Game Controller as Spotty suggested. Being left- handed has it's advantages, but not in a 90% right-handed world-
  7. Hey Guys, I am looking for an alternative to WASD for gaming. I just cannot use WASD unless I slide my keyboard all the way to the right. Doing this also prevents me from using other keyboard keys and shortcuts. I've watched a couple of YouTube videos about this, but none to my satisfaction. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. BTW, I use my left hand for the mouse even though it is a "right-handed" mouse. I need a solution for the keyboard! HELP!
  8. what do you know about Open Media Vault for Linux- it is highly recommended on a lot of sites.?
  9. Well Yes- I have absolutely no knowledge about servers- haven't really needed one before now,but looks like I will be learning!
  10. I looked at Synology. Very good choice, but a little out of my budget right now- I saw one for 169.00 without disks. I haven't made a decision yet- may have to wait a month or two, don't want to buy something I can't scale up later- the better models are 4 to 500 bucks- can't afford right now-
  11. Haha - well thanks for the compliment, but I am 62 years old. Anyway, after doing quite a bit of reading, and asking questions on some other tech forums,www.bleepingcomputer.com is my favorite, I've determined that what I am looking for is a NAS server, which as you said, can be purchased for relatively low cost at my local computer store. WD has one for 139.00 bucks that will suit my needs. I also run a dual boot Windows/Linux machine where I think Open Media Vault will work as well for the Linux end of it. Either option comes pre- configured mostly,so I don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure it out! Not looking to build a server room here- just something for HOME use!
  12. Thanks for the link- thats a good start!
  13. Well I've heard that server CPU'S are different,as in XEON processors, and that RAM is different- EEC vs. non EEC for desktops.and that is about all I know-
  14. I wish Linus would do a series on this topic- if he hasn't already?
