  1. Thanks everyone for your input. I did look into the 1050 today and it seems reasonably priced, but I noticed that most 1050s had the following connection types: DVI, DP and HDMI. From my understanding the DP is the latest connection type. If I don't want to lost the 4K quality or color reduction, then do I need a GPU with 3 DP ports? I hope this makes sense. I'm asking this because I have a 4K monitor (LG - 27UD69P-W 27" IPS LED 4K UHD FreeSync Monitor - Black/white) and wanted to attached 1 or 2 more like this. Will I get the same quality regardless of the connection type? Does this make sense? Thanks again.
  2. So I'm building a ryzen rig with a asrock X370 Taichi motherboard. I'm stuck on which gpu you to get. All I hear online is about how one card may be better than when it comes to gaming. See, I don't game. I build software for the cloud, I run database applications, I watch movies every now and then. I own a 4k monitor and plan on buying 1 or 2 more. Considering, I'm not a gamer, but want the 4k quality, want to hook up atleast 2 or 3 monitors, what kind of gpu do I need? All I hear is 1060 1070 and 1080, but then again they are discussed in terms of gaming. Any help or direction would help. Thanks in advance.
  3. Thanks all for the feedback. So it sounds like the m.2 3rd generation x4 will be the way to go. I think I'll opt for the Samsung 960 EVO Series - 250GB PCIe NVMe - M.2 Internal SSD (MZ-V6E250BW) I think this will give me the best speed and performance. I do have a 2nd M.2 generation2 x 4 slot on the Taichi motherboard, so I'll probably get a small m.2 for it. I want to keep the drives separate for windows and Linux because... as we all know we can't trust windows. The linux won't be used as much as the windows drive, so technically it should last longer as well. Additionally, I'll get a WD 1TB drive from amazon to share my files between the OSs. I don't think I can go wrong with this setup? Am I correct? The one thing I do want to found out is that it says that with NVME I should be able to transfer data at 32GB/s or something. How do I get this speed? Do I need to do anything from my end? Am I getting the wrong M.2 drive? Remember I have the x370 Taichi here. Thanks again.
  4. Hi All... Thank you in advance for your help. So I am building a new rig with the following specs: 1. Processor : Ryzen 7 1700 2. Motherboard : ASRock X370 Taichi 3. Ram : CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 2666MHz 4. GPU : Undecided 5. Storage : Undecided 6. Case : Phantek P400s Tempered Glass Background: As a profession, I build software for clients. Run different database engines on my computer (MS SQL, MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB and etc..) Part of what I do is also graphics work, but not heavy. However, I do want the color accuracy as much as possible. I am not a gamer, I think the last game I played was like Pac-Man or Super Mario Brothers, but I do like watching movies from time to time. I want to build a nice rig for myself now. I think I owe it myself after so many years. I want to make the best out of the Taichi motherboard. I figured since its got a M.2 Gen 3 ultra slot, lets take advantage of it. I have been looking at this WD WDS256G1X0C. It says it transfer data at 8 GB/S. I don't know too much about these drives and want to be sure I am buying the right stuff. I'm looking to build a rig that loads everything really quick. Now the Taichi board also has 3 other PCI Slots and another M.2 Gen 2 slot, but I got no idea what to use them for an how to take advantage of this board as I'm not a gamer. Some of you may say why did I get then, its a nice board, so I got it. Anyhow, I need help or suggestions with picking the correct drives here. I will be running 2 OS primarily, WIndows and Linux. I am thinking the following: 1. PCIe Gen3x4 = Windows 2. PCIe Gen2x4 = Linux 3. Get a HDD to store my files/data on it and share it between Windows and Linux. So, to make the best out of the board, I'd like to know if the WD Storage device is good enough and will I get the top speeds out of it. Additionally, I want to know if how I am thinking to setup with 3 drives is also correct or not. Any additional input would also be very helpful. Thanks and sorry for the long post and hopefully I'll get some decent responses here. Thanks.
  5. I am looking to build a new PC and I plan on going with the Ryzen 7 1700 processor. I have been in a big dilemma lately if I should get either the Taichi X370 or Asus PRIME X370-PRO motherboard. A couple of points on my usage: 1. I want to try to purchase a motherboard that is somewhat future proof. 2. I do like the latest technology. 3. I am not a gamer at all. 4. This PC will be used more for development purposes. I'll be running Software Development Tools, Database tools, Photoshot and other development tools. 5. Eventually, I want to be able to run 2 to 3 27 inch monitors. I do want to utilize a M.2 slot for my drive, so having that capability is a requirement for me. If you think another motherboard is better suited for my needs then please, I'm all ears. I do thank everyone in advance for providing their feedback in advance. Thanks, AJ
