My perfect motherboard:

  • 2-4x CPU sockets
  • 4-phase (70a caps) VRM design
  • 3x switchable BIOS/EFI chips, with dedicated CMOS for each
  • 16x DIMM slots
  • 1x 1394 header (Power, Reset, HDD Activity)
  • 2x USB 3.0 headers
  • 4x U.2 ports
  • 6x SATA III ports
  • 4x PCI-e 3.0 x4 slots
  • 4x PCI-e 3.0 x16 slots
  • built-in speaker (beeps and BIOS noises only)
  • built-in Qualcomm Adreno 640, with DP passthrough
  • built-in DisplayPort (for basic video output/troubleshooting)
  • no built-in chipset (included with CPU instead, similar to AMD EPYC)
  • no built-in audio
  • no built-in Wireless NIC
  • 2x Ethernet 10Gbps ports
  • 2x Quad SFF-8644 ports (PCI-e Passthrough)

    4-phase VRM design

    with like 70a or something?

Why would a 4-phase VRM be perfect in anyones world? You want more like 6-8phase with 60a caps

@Ashiella that's actually no joke, the x399 meg creation uses 70a

tho i'd rather have a bigger one too

@LukeSavenije in the end, its the total amount of current so /shrug
I was interested that he stated no built-in audio, when its always like a why not situation.

PCIE passthrough over USB 3.1 is just thunderbolt.

From what I understand from tophatproductions, he likes to do it all overkill. For no reason whatsoever, he comes up with an overcomplicated solution for everything; whilst he still makes it viable in his own head. When to others, its illogical. ?

    @Ashiella

    1. Built-in audio tends to be limited in some capacity anyway, and I always have a spare audio card. So, it just adds unnecessary cost in my situation.
    2. Not in this case. I'm looking at 8x to 16x Passthrough. That's not even available in current Thunderbolt 3. Thunderbolt 4 is rumoured to finally achieve PCI-e 3.0 speeds. I'm looking more at PCI-e 4.0 x16 over USB ;)
    3. That sounds more like Linus than me. But, I guess it's open to interpretation :P

so you admit it's necessary... XD

    3. That actually sounds a lot like me...

I wrote a piece of music once and it included alternating dotted and non dotted 32nd notes, to which my music teacher/expert piano player refused to play...

    2. Didn't put because i was responding to your numbers

    3. if you know how to read music, you will know how ridiculous that is... I'm basically a monster

@Jtalk4456 Play it, so I can hear what it sounds like

XD that's funny @Ashiella. You think i can play it when i don't play an instrument and my talented music teacher flat out refused to even try?
