  1. Great suggestion. I rigged up the 450W power supply and everything worked perfectly including the m.2 drive. Like I mentioned in the orginal post the bios was reporting low voltage which wasn't an issue with the 450W, so just to be safe I removed the custom cable extensions from my 850W power supply and what do you know it no longer reports low voltage either. I guess I must've damaged the extensions or something. Regardless though I think this is case closed
  2. The psu im using is about 6 years old, and the only spare I have is a 450W, which I don't think is nearly enough. I went ahead and orders a pcie 4x adapter to try the m.2 drive in and see how that works, will try to give an update when it gets in
  3. I should have mentioned that I've tried both m.2 ports. It's just weird to me that both ports would spotaniously die at the same time, makes me think there is an issue with the power delivery
  4. Hello all, a year or so ago I upgraded to a ryzen 5800x and ASUS TUF x570 mobo. About a month ago my system started crashing under load while using a corsair MP510 m.2 as my boot drive (at idle and low load pc would run fine but as soon as I booted up Anno 1800 or something heavy it would crash instantly), I swapped out for a SATA drive and sent the m.2 for RMA, and just put it back in a few days ago, same issue. After putting it back in I noticed my bios was reporting low voltage on the 3.3V rail, so I repluged all the power connections on my corsair RM850X, and that issue went away but I still can't use this m.2 drive for anything, windows often refuses to read or write to it at all. Also since reinstalling the m.2 my computer has started to stutter alot. Prior to reinstalling the m.2 drive my system was completely stable running off the sata drive. So then is the problem with the mobo or the power supply? I've already gone through the motions of updating drivers and my bios, clearing cmos, etc. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks for reading.
  5. Hello all, My current situation is a bit janked up and I don't know what i'm doing, I have infinet 150 (175Mbps) through sasktel and theres a fiber line to my apparment which is connected to a Alcatel-Lucent ONT (model #7432), which from is to connected to the WAN port on the router my isp provided (Actiontec V1000H), which I have connected to my desktop, a wireless tv box, and another router (Asus RT-AC1200). Now I got the asus router because the actiontec has horrible range and speeds, and in my current configuration the asus router is much better (Gets about 50Mbps) but from what I've been reading this is the wrong way to do it, the main problem is that I can't directly connect the asus router to the alcatel modem, it will only recognize it for a second and then it cuts the connection, it must restrict the access somehow. So I can't connect the asus router directly to the alcatel so my next move was to put the actiontec router in bridge mode, which I was able to do with the help of some guides, because the option is hidden, but it doesn't seem to work, there's no speed increase at all, still round about 50Mbps over wifi and ethernet. So my question is, is there anything I can do here? I'd like to connect my desktop to the asus router without losing speed, and to have wifi on the asus router work at full speed, but I also have to keep the actiontec router for my wireless tv and for the HPNA port. Thanks for reading, sorry if this gave you a headache just thinking about it.
  6. The samsung software only works on samsung drives.
  7. Macrium Reflect is the best free software I'm aware of that's capable of cloning drives reliably, and you won't have to install windows and run a recovery, just clone the drive and change the boot priority, then delete the partition on the old drive. I just used it about 3 days ago when I installed a SSD in my old laptop.
  8. You could try putting the old card back and manually downloading and installing the drivers for the 1060, could also try updating the bios.
  9. As far as I know most, if not all Asus mobo's come with a stock HB bridge. It's just a bare pcb but it still does the trick.
  10. Using the HB bridge that came with the mobo, like I said it's a little bent but as far as I can tell it's still working fine.
  11. So earlier today I got my second 1080 to put in SLI with my original, however now that it's all set up I can barely see any performance improvement what so ever. To be clear I'm using a 1080 FE, tricked out with a nzxt kraken g12, and corsair H90 AIO, and the second card is a Asus Strix 1080 A8G. I know that probably sounds stupid but I did do my research before and while I couldn't find anyone else who had done this exact combination, everywhere I looked said that it should have no problems as long as both cards fit, which they do, both cards are seated properly and the SLI bridge is slightly bent but works all the same. I should also point out that I've done testing with programs like Furmark(4K preset) where my SLI set up consistently almost doubles the score I receive with just a single 1080, but in games like Fallout 4, PUBG, and Battlefield 1, the performance is the same, and sometimes worse. Here's a full list of all my relevant specs: Intel 7700k @ 4.8Ghz Asus Prime Z270-A 32Gb Corsair Veng. 2400Mhz Corsair RM850x 1080 FE (with nzxt bracket, and corsair h90) Asus Strix 1080 A8G All games run at 4K on a Asus MG28UQ One last bit of info, the SLI is recognized by the nvidia control panel, the system is totally stable, and both cards are overclocked and boost over 2000Mhz without any thermal throttling at all. If any of you out there can pick out anything I'm doing wrong, or give any advice it'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.
