ImpulseRez got a reaction from supRac in GPU Overheats with Air cooling
They get hot, it's fine. They're designed to be able to handle the heat. Only if it's 'overheating' and shutting down/artifacting should you worry.

I think you should be able to move the temp limit down though. By your last screenshot it looks like you've got the power limit and temp limit linked together. Try clicking the little 'link' icon to the left (it's red in your screenshot and looks like a diagonal '8'), and I think you'll be able to move them independently?

ImpulseRez got a reaction from TechyBen in HDR not working. Spent 100$ on HDMI cable
Ah yes, my bad. I mean 4:2:0. That's the highest supported at 10bit 4K 60fps on HDMI 2.0 (nothing to do with the cable, all to do with the standard. Any ~$10 cable will support the required bandwidth).
See the table in this link for what your choices are:
    https://www.hdmi.org/manufacturer/hdmi_2_0/hdmi_2_0_faq.aspx#146

Your TV is also HDMI 2.0 I think, so that's why displayport adapters wouldn't work also.

I'd still recommend going to 4:2:0 subsampling to maintain the other goodness if you aren't prepared to drop any of the other things. I still bet you won't notice...

HDMI 2.0 can't do 4K 60fps 4:4:4 at 10 bit colour depth. This article here might help clarify why:
    http://community.cedia.net/blogs/david-meyer/2017/06/22/4k-60-444-hdr

Return the cable while you still can ($100 for an HDMI cable is absolutely absurd), get a perfectly fine <$10 one (e.g. Amazon Basics, monoprice), and make the choice for your TV of what you want to sacrifice (chroma subsampling? 10 bit? etc). I'd recommend dropping down to 4:2:2 from 4:4:4 as you're unlikely to be able to see the difference at TV viewing distance.

ImpulseRez reacted to dgsddfgdfhgs in at Ultra/ Max graphics setting, what games are you really impressed with?
For a really beautiful looking game, I would not care for high fps.
but so far I havent seen many games that really looks great at max setting.
so far I am only amazed with square soft /enix
    what do you think?

You don't need a separate subwoofer. See the little speaker in the Edifiers? They'll handle the higher frequencies. See the big speaker? They'll handle the lower frequencies. Don't pay the 'gamer tax'

ImpulseRez reacted to ZUB XD in G2A and Kinguin
I don't know if everyone here knows about G2A and Kinguin but hey decided to post it.

    G2A
G2A()com is an online webstore were people can buy/sell games.
Here you can buy games cheaper then Steam, safely, head over to there site it's pretty self explanatory.

    Kinguin
Kinguin is like G2A, but for CS:GO skins.
Kinguin offers CS:GO skins for (pretty) cheap, they have some good deals.

    That's it..
    I hope this helped someone

ImpulseRez got a reaction from TechyBen in How can I make my pc super responsive in a certain game?
You only play Fortnite and Brawlhalla but have a 1080ti?? Bit of a waste!

And responding to your original post, it's not hardware related other than peripherals. Faster response time monitor for example would help. But internal hardware does not. Really the solution is just to get better I'm afraid.

ImpulseRez got a reaction from TechyBen in More details about the throttling issues of the 15" core i9 MacBook Pro, this time with Final Cut Pro X
A bit ridiculous to blame Intel on this one. Apple must have made a conscious design choice to keep the laptop thin at the expense of cooling. Intel chips are pretty good from an efficiency perspective, and being the first 6 core laptop chips are always going to be thermally dense to start with.
Also, bringing up the ARM mention is pretty absurd (performance compared to an 8th Gen 6 core Intel CPU is not going to be in the same league!)

What is this, 2007? This 'download only model' has been the primary distribution system of PC games for years (does the name 'Steam' mean anything to you..?).

The idea of going back to cartridges won't happen, as they cost an order of magnitude more to manufacture and distribute.

Optical discs cost pennies to manufacturer, whereas the costs of flash cartridges is in the 'dollars' range. Downloads are even  cheaper still, and this is the main reason that platforms like Steam have been pushed by publishers.

No point replacing with a different air cooler. You'd be looking at very (very) few degrees of performance increase.
