Den-Fi reacted to sowon for a blog entry, EXID - I Love You
EXID's 2018 single, I Love You, marks the comeback of their vocalist and leader Solji, who was absent from previous comebacks due to complications with her health. The five-member group returns with their new single, I Love You, a single that harkens to the themes of 80's disco and pop culture with the overly-engineered synths, VCR effects, polaroids, extreme shots of saturation and color, as well as the amazing vocal performances from the girls.

I've been a big fan of EXID and am glad to see Solji is back for this new single. Today I'll be going through the single and analysing the composition, instrumentals, vocals, as well as my general opinion on the song as whole.

I actually have a physical edition of this particular K-pop release and have acquired the 1411Kbps lossless FLAC version of this song, since I love EXID so much and bought the album! I'll be listing the timestamps of I Love You through what I can see foobar2000 is reporting.

0:00 - Immediately the song begins with a very retro composition with a low synth, kickdrums, cowbells, and a fervid vocalist repeating "I love you" in a catchy and repetitive way. EXID are known for doing these repetitive intros and choruses so it is not surprise that they incorporate one here, and it works great as it gives a sense of intensity as to what is to come next.
0:18 - Hani's vocals are so present and warm, they're accompanied perfectly with the background composition and the flow is fantastic. I love the coldness of her voice complimenting the 80's theme of the song.
0:35 - The transition from Hani's verse to LE's rapping is amazing, it goes from this low and dark composition followed by a synth to turn the beat from warm & seductive to urban & hip, the beat picks up an octave along with the introduction of the cowbell. The kickdrums appear to have a lot more echo and body about them as well especially with LE's subvocals and echo effect underneath her vocals. LE's voice is naturally sexy and having double her vocals and a high-end beat is a great combination.
0:53 - Hyelin's vocals are amazingly presented here with the exponentionally higher-toned background composition with now super bubbly sparkly tones contrasted by the low-end bass, this is truly something I would associate with 80's disco. Hyelin's voice here sounds so beautiful and fits the composition so well.
1:00 - Solji's vocals are equally as beautiful as Hyelin's, the composition remains the same which emphasises the differences in their voices and focuses the listener on their own voices instead of the composition, which is difficult to pull off given the 80's influence and the emphasis on the poppy instrumentals, but they do it perfectly, especially when they have such trained vocals and singing. I also love how Solji's high notes are in perfect timing with the times in the instrumental where the synth reaches its apex. Great compositional design.
1:11 - I once again absolutely love how Solji's "I love you" lines are perfectly harmonised with the instrumentals, it adds body and elevates her already-stellar vocals so much and I love that. In fact, the remainder of the chorus also gives the members perfectly in-time synth elevations. I love this compositional choice and it really gives a retro 80's vibe.
1:44 - This simple kickdrum and synth combination to go with Hani's cold yet seductive whispery vocals is great, the vocals have a nice reverb around them and gives full attention towards her amazing vocal performance.
1:52 - LE's rapping comes in again and it's once again fantastic, her high notes are complimented by a vibrant echo which gives her voice some body and elevates her song above the composition, contributing to the vibe of the song.
2:01 - Similarly to the first verse, there's not a lot that's going on composition-wise, but Jeonghwa's vocals are amazingly vibrant and complimented by an echo effect, same applies to Hani's vocals later in the verse with her once again sexy whispery voice.
2:44 - This is where the song reaches its climax and its a happy one, the chorus' amazing hook combined with Solji's adlibs finish the song off so perfectly. What a great ending to an amazing song.

This is easily going into my top K-pop songs of 2018. The song is rich with talented vocals, amazing instrumentals, and even better composition and producer choices. Hyelin and Solji's vocals compliment each other perfectly, LE's rapping is as usual on point and elevated by the quicker tempo of the instrumentals, and Hani's luxurious vocals were a gift to the ears.
If nobody had told me (and mostly because I was born in '00) I would have never guessed this was a 2018 song, the song screams a time before EDM and productions heavily favoring electronics rather than raw vocal power and of course synths.

I love that EXID are not afraid to break boundaries of what music should sound like, or conform to the usual bubbly songs found in mainstream K-pop. EXID's I Love You is a perfect example of how music can be expressed by anyone and not locked down to a particular theme, pattern, or genre. This retro song is truly a work of art and the girls have done a fantastic job in making it.

Den-Fi reacted to sowon for a blog entry, SuperM - SuperM
Dubbed 'The Avengers of K-Pop', the Korean pop SuperM is a group comprised of SM's current greatest male vocalists, rappers, and dancers. The group has made their official debut with the release of their self-titled album 'SuperM' with the title 'Jopping' which is described as jumping & popping.

I find it cool that SM has decided to create a super group with all the elements of the individual groups together into one. I believe this is for North American success projection, but only time will tell. Jopping has been described as exactly what a North American consumer would be interested in, featuring a lot of English lyrics, as well as focusing on the members' abilities themselves as singers, rappers, and dancers.

I'll be listening to the full album and reviewing each song individually to highlight the strong points that I find in each of the songs.

0:10 - Right off the bat, the epic anthem-like instrumental with the hard-hitting brass with the clapping is an amazing motivator and grasp into the song. Harmonise that with the amazing chant from the members with the rich sub-vocals and it makes for a striking intro.
0:32 - This low-end hip-hop-like flow is nicely detailed and controls the tempo of the song nicely. It's a great head-bopper. The vocals have a distant echo effect which creates a sense of space and room to really volumise and resonate the low-end in the instrumentals.
0:48 - I like that they keep that hip-hop beat when Taehyong enters with his rapping, his rapping is no accompanied by any sort of subvocal which is nice as it lets his vocals speak for themselves. Mark's latter half of the first verse is similar in giving his vocals the spotlight with no extra frills.
1:05 - Here there are nice, echoey subvocals from Kai with the (paraglide) (pair of slides) (paradise) (better life) and it makes his vocals so fluid and roomy, the highs in his husky voice naturally contrast with that consistent instrumental background.
1:21 - Baekyun's naturally feminine tones in his voice contrast nicely with that background instrumental and also share the same no-strings-attached vocal as the earlier part of the first verse did which is great in showcasing his vocal ability.
1:28 - Taemin's entry with his low pillowtalk tone is a great change of flavour from the previous members' lines earlier in the first verse, whilst still sharing the same composition. I absolutely love how great this song is at showcasing their vocals and individual prowess.
2:06 - I love that despite the song's inherent confusion over where the main chorus is, it still flows into a verse after the initial second chorus. Mark Lee's rapping here is exceptionally deep and punchy especially when paired with the returning hip-hop instrumental. The echoey subvocals have the same traits as Kai's earlier verse too. Taemin returns here too with his masculine whispery vocals and it's a fantastic contrast in mood to Mark Lee's dark and mysterious rapping.
2:37 - The chorus is here once again for a third time and I love how it's naturally a connector between the second verse and the bridge to properly transition from the deep and masculine vibe of the verses and the upcoming bridge which I anticipate is going to take the tempo down a notch.
2:54 - There's a faint humming in the background to once again give the atmosphere some body and room, and the vocals of Taemin and Baekyun here are the pinnacle of the vocal ability of SuperM. I love the change in tempo and pace in this section to set up an epic finale.
3:16 - This chorus sounds epic. The subvocals and the high notes of Baekyun are amazingly well detailed and make for the most hyped chorus I've heard in a long time.

0:12 - The heavy and punchy drum is so echoey and deep, especially when combined with the higher tones of the vocalists. This has a similar styling to Jopping so far.
0:48 - This section really reminds me of Exo's earlier work with the heavy bias towards EDM-like instrumentals and the vocals being overly-worked.
0:58 - Wow, the high vocals really pop especially since there is a swift transition from punchy drums to this dreamy instrumental.
1:22 - The drum returns and the vocals also make their return with little echo effect, once again very similar to Jopping's style of composition.
2:27 - This almost half-time section sounds very primal and animalistic with the drums being far deeper than before, and the vocals being forward.

0:12 - This is a nice mellow beginning with the whispery vocals, it makes for a calm and airy atmosphere.
0:59 - I love the echoey vocals of the members here, the calm instrumental background is also a nice touch too as it retains it low noise floor.
1:36 - I particularly love this bit for the echoey vocals that return with the vibrant and roomy tones.
1:56 - This change of pacing in the bridge is a great opportunity to showcase the vocals of the members and emphasise them with the whispery cloudy subvocals.
2:30 - I like that the chorus seems to pick up the tempo a bit and also increase the instrumental volume a bit along with it. The echoey vocals combined with the subvocal adlibs make for a nice finale.

0:06 - There's a very distinct futuristic and EDM-like background instrumental to go along with the amazing vocals here. A very different change from the previous songs in the album.
0:43 - The 'Vroom' drop was simply epic. I noticed that the instrumental was let loose and became punchy and deep, with the vocals also coming alive, almost chant-like.
1:18 - Similarly to the intro and first verse, this has the low notes of the instrumental with the simplistic vocal stylings.
1:51 - I absolutely love the transition from the calm and shy instrumental from the verses to the absolutely dirty and nasty composition of the choruses.
2:20 - If there was any proof that this is an EDM-style song, this is it. A bridge that encorporates an EDM beat and very raw and edgy vocals.

0:20 - This is quite a calm and lowkey song, at least from the beginning. A simple echoey choir-like vocal composition with an even simpler 4-chord piece in the background. The entrance of the bass gives some body to the composition and creates a dark sound.
0:54 - Similar to the first verse, there's an eerily-harmonic vocal composition with that noir-like instrumental composition.
2:00 - This is probably the one point in the song where vocals pick up a notch. The rest of the song so far has been whispery and shy vocals with an even darker and muted instrumental composition.

Going to be honest, I was only really hooked to Jopping. The rest of the songs did not seem very interesting nor prominent as Jopping was. Jopping simply one-upped every other song on the album. The album's songs all have the same hip-hop style about them, but Jopping does these the best, in my opinion.

Jopping is simply put, an amazing dance track as it encorporates plenty of instrumental choices to get the listener hyped up. The brass is an amazing choice as it gives a royal and suspenseful vibe around the song. The bass is extremely evident in the Spotify 320kbps version and it makes the song so punchy and deep. Additionally, since that instrumental persists throughout the whole song, it's super easily to get into the flow and vibe with the song.
To touch on the vocals and not specifically just in Jopping, I know the members very well so I was able to tell which members sang what parts. But to those uninitiated in Korean pop, I absolutely love that each of the members have their own specific flavour of vocal styles so there's an abundance of energy and character around the songs.

As an album, it's not necessarily my thing to listen to, but Jopping as a song I will easily oblige to listen to. It's an amazing song with an amazing composition, and perfected by the unique and charismatic vocals of all the members.

Den-Fi reacted to sowon for a blog entry, Oh Hayoung - OH!
Oh Hayoung of Apink makes her solo professional debut as a singer in her first mini-album, the lovingly-titled 'OH!', which is cutely her surname. I was super excited to hear that she was making a solo album as I am a huge fan of Hayoung, she's my second favorite member of Apink, closely behind Jeong Eunji, South Korea's #1 vocalist and absolute fluffball of cuteness.
I find Hayoung's voice unique with its misty, pillowy soft natural tone and ability to effortlessly reach highs. She blends well with her group Apink with her unique voice and you can definitely tell when it's her that's singing a particular part of an Apink song.

Her solo is her opportunity to show her voice on her own and allow her to stand on her own feet outside of Apink. With her title track, Don't Make Me Laugh, I anticipate a bubbly, fun, outgoing side of Hayoung, as I find her voice suits the soothing serenity of relaxing Summer songs. I can't wait to listen to the entire album, it will be an absolute treat to my ears.

For this particular listening session, I have acquired the FLAC versions of all songs on this album and will be listening to the 1411Kbps FLAC versions using my FiiO FH5 IEMs.

0:01 - The gentle 'Don't make me laugh' notes from Hayoung are so very pleasant to listen to especially with the slight echo reverb behind her vocals to give the vocals more soul and body. Additionally, the background instruments are also nice and calm to give a gentle backdrop to her vocals.
0:10 - The introduction of the guitar gives almost a ballad feel to the song when combined with Hayoung's tender vocals. The claps give a nice rhythmic tone, and everything marries together so nicely. Hayoung's vocals are so far forward and they're lovingly displayed. The guitar is nice and vibrant which goes perfectly with the highs of Hayoung's misty vocals.
0:30 - I absolutely love how well the beat goes with her singing, it has a slow rise and we really get a sense of rhythmical pacing from the lyrical speed as well as the accompanying instrumentals. Hayoung excellently displays her vocal ability here, effortlessly reaching the high notes.
0:39 - I love the rise in guitar pacing and the slight piano chime to create a fresh, inviting tone to perfectly match Hayoung's beautiful vocals. Hayoung's vocals barely need any echo or reverb to stand out in front of the rest of the instrumentals.
1:12 - The second verse follows the same styling as the first verse but this time with a much more upbeat and sparkly instrumental, despite the more prominent instrumentals, Hayoung's vocals stil take center-stage, and I love this composition.
1:24 - This pre-chorus also follows the same stylign as the first pre-chorus which implies a steady buildup when we recall the second verse also had a more bubbly, sparkly instrumental. This time around, there are subvocals from Hayoung with the "Ahhh~" and "Wow~" which gives her main vocals some company and soul. I love the addition of the subvocals as it doesn't make the pre-chorus too repetitive and keeps the high energy and tempo going to keep the song at a consistently happy atmosphere.
1:36 - The second chorus is identical to the first chorus in every way and I love that despite the previous buildups, we as the listener are bedded back into the comfort of the first, minty fresh chorus. We get to hear Hayoung's vocals front and center once again and I absolutely adore her misty, whispery voice.
1:54 - This bridge puts the piano beside Hayoung's vocals to emphasise the ballady nature and also reinforces the gentle and calm atmosphere that the song began with. Hayoung's whispery-soft vocals are amazingly crisp and she effortlessly pulls off her high notes as well as her gentle whisper vocals. I love that this bridge has a very subdued instrumental to allow Hayoung's vocals to be unapologetically the center and in your face.
2:12 - This is the climax of the song where all the build-up has been leading to, Hayoung has these whispery "oooohh~" subvocals to accentuate her vocal performance in this song and I am absolutely in love with the song for how amazing her vocals are, and it shows in this final chorus.

0:12 - Babylon's husky, masculine vocals are a welcome addition to Hayoung's album, it's a nice contrast to Hayoung's otherwise misty vocals. The background instrumentals have this R&B style feel to them, it's a chill start to the song and I'm a fan.
0:36 - Hayoung's vocals enter the song effortlessly, her high tones perfectly blend with the background instrumentals to create a soothing harmony with the instrumentals but also a stark contrast to Babylon's vocals.
0:46 - The R&B feel definitely comes through here with the house/EDM-style light tempo and Babylon's raised tone.
1:01 - I love that when Hayoung re-enters, the instrumentals become softer and quieter, this is in contrast to Babylon's high-tempo, upbeat lines. A very nice back-and-forth duet.
1:21 - This unity of both of their vocals is an amazing harmony and completion of the seperation of both of their vocals from before where they were both disconnected. Both of their vocals compliment each other so well and they gave each other's vocals body and soul.
1:45 - This second chorus is a lot more energetic with the subvocals, and also once again has the contrast between the two, very interesting composition.
2:09 - This calm harmony is another treat for the ears and succeeds the first harmony in such a great way.

0:12 - There's certainly a Hawaiin/Latin vibe with the mix of the the instrumental and Hayoung's soft vocals.
0:41 - I am definitely getting a really relaxed, beach-oriented song from this opening and chorus, Hayoung's soft vocals really suit the light instrumental composition in the background.
0:52 - Hayoung's voice moulds gracefully with the instrumental, this is a song which utilises highs so well and Hayoung's vocals really pop here.
1:20 - Kanto's heavy, deep, bassy voice is a fantastic contrast to the soothing nature of Hayoung's voice and the instrumental.
1:50 - The reggae style really picks up here and introduces a lot more volume to the instrumentals as well as Hayoung raising her voice slightly to a higher register. This build up is nice and comfortable.
2:00 - This chorus also follows the same relaxed vibe and I love how warm and inviting the whole composition is.
2:31 - Hayoung's high notes explode so nicely, the instrumentals also pick up far higher and I love how gradual of a buildup it has been up until now.

0:12 - This simple instrumental really allows Hayoung's vocals to stand out front and center.
0:38 - The warm roomy lows compliment the highs of Hayoung's vocals so nicely.
0:50 - This song has a lot of resemblance to the previous two in that they have really relaxed instrumentals and give plenty of room for Hayoung's vocals.
1:47 - More or less the same as the first pre-chorus with a lot more energy and kicks here which makes for a nice build-up and still keeps Hayoung's vocals in the front.
2:25 - I love how whispery and echoey Hayoung's vocals here are combined with the simple composition in the background.
3:00 - Hayoung's subvocals give some body and soul to this final chorus, overall I love how simple the composition is and letting Hayoung's vocals do the work to showcase her amazing vocals.

0:12 - This opening sounds so soulful with Hayoung's soft, ballad vocals accompanied only by short piano hits and a small kickdrum. There's a ballad feel about this one so far.
1:02 - Oh yeah, ballad Hayoung vocals explode here. Her soft "You ain't gotta worry about nothing" is so soothing to hear. Her vocals combined with the still relaxed but slightly volumised instrumentals make an amazing theatre atmosphere.
1:28 - This second verse shares the same characteristics as the first verse in that her vocals remain this calm, wispy tone yet the background instrumental is taken up a notch. The piano appears to be louder which gives her vocals some more body and enhances the ballad vibe of the song.
2:20 - This second chorus is absolutely gorgeous to listen to. Hayoung's vocals are so so beautiful especially when accompanied by the warm instrumentals and in particular that simple yet effective piano melody.
2:42 - This bridge is a true display of Hayoung's vocal ability, there's a soft subvocal undertone which emphasies her vocals so much, and the instrumentals also appear to have risen a bit. This has been a steady and consistent buildup.
3:10 - This choir feeling with Hayoung's vocals being the only presence along with the soft undertone truely emphasises her vocal performance, this ballad is absolutely phenomenal.

Listening to her debut album in FLAC format was a feast for my ears. In every single song, her vocal performance had me so comfortable. The whole album greatly showcased her vocal performance and how well she could sing on her own without her peers. Hayoung's graceful, beautiful, and dreamy voice was absolutely the front and center of all her songs, with the instrumentals perfectly complimenting her vocals.

Don't Make Me Laugh was absolutely my favorite from the album, it is such an upbeat and energetic song which I think goes perfectly with Hayoung's unique vocal tone. Her voice is really infatuating and the amazing instrumentals of the song further compliment them.
I also particularly like Worry About Nothing, it was so interesting to see a ballad in there, and she proved in the song she can sing in all the ranges and do it beautifully. The simple composition with the pianos is a perfect accompaniment for Hayoung's vocals to take the front of the stage and show us all what she's capable of.
As a whole, the rest of the songs in the album had a quite reggae/R&B vibe to them, the instrumentals were always simple compositions that complimented Hayoung's vocals every time. The duets in particular, the male vocals were a neat contrast to Hayoung's extremely feminine tone. They were beautifully constructed songs.

Hayoung's first mini album 'OH!' has been an amazing listen and I see myself looping Don't Make Me Laugh for years to come, her vocal ability is amazingly refined and her unique tone is adorable to listen to.

Den-Fi reacted to sowon for a blog entry, BTOB Blue - When It Rains (Single)
BTOB Blue is a subunit consisting of BTOB's Eunkwang, Changsub, Hyunsik, and Sungjae, essentially all the vocalists of BTOB minus the rappers, Ilhoon and Peniel. When It Rains is the quartet's 2018 single, and of course will follow the ballad style that the vocalists of BTOB are known for.
I love the vocals of BTOB a lot so having all the vocalist in a subunit like this seems like it will make for a soothing, relaxing, comfortable, warm ballad to listen to when it rains, no pun intended.
Today I'll be listening to the group's ballad, When It Rains, and sharing my thoughts on the song.

0:21 - The opening is beautiful, with Eunkwang's vocals effortlessly flowing in with the simple background instrumentals. I love that the vocals are ever so more forward than the instrumentals, the background composition is giving his vocals a lot of body especially with the undertone present underneath his vocals. The piano's rhythm also follows the vocal flow and it makes the whole composition sound so complete.
0:53 - Changsub's strong and powerful vocals are amazing here, and the background instrumentals rise ever so slightly. There's also now a background choir underneath his vocals which gives Changsub's vocals some more body and it sounds so melodic and warm. The piano also stays throughtout to maintain the slow, ballad tempo.
1:41 - The instrumentals are more subdued here and they gradually increase in volume compared to the vocals which allows the listener to anticipate the next chorus and keep the listener on edge, I love the feeling of being kept on the ride of they boys' amazing vocals.
2:17 - Much the same as the first chorus but with a harder-hitting kickdrum to accentuate the caliber and atmosphere of the ballad, combined with amazing vocals. The background choir sings in a higher register here and it gives the boys' vocals even more soul and energy.
3:00 - The choir is even more prominent here and I feel like it's become an epic opera, the caliber of their vocals is outstanding.
3:32 - The vocals are exploding here, the amazing vocals combined with the epic choir and the muted instrumental composition makes for a great final chorus to fully complete the building energy that was present throughout the song.

BTOB did not disappoint here. When It Rains is an amazing ballad that perfectly showcased their amazing vocal ability. The addition of the soft choir gave their vocals and the song more energy and charisma, especially when the background composition mainly consisted of a few guitars, a piano, and some other minor instrumentals.
I love the focus on their vocals moreso than anything else, I feel like that's what BTOB is out there to do. Their vocals were far forward than anything else in the song and it shows. The choir was merely there to assist them. It's a common theme in BTOB ballads to use a secondary choir to accentuate their main vocals, and it's definitely worked in this ballad.

Den-Fi reacted to sowon for a blog entry, Ace of Angels - New Moon
AOA's latest EP, New Moon, released November 2019, has officially come out, and having bene a long-time fan of AOA for the latter part of my life, I am extremely excited to check it out.
This time around, AOA has 5 members with the departure of Kwon Mina, but if their Mnet Queendom appearance taught us anything, it's that AOA can slay the entire K-pop industry no matter how many members leave. Their title sing Come See Me has been highly anticipated, so I will be sharing my thoughts on not just the title, but also the entire album's array of songs.

0:00 - Immediately the song opens up nicely with a melodic guitar melody with echoing finger snaps and a mild kickdrum. Jimin's vocals are forward and echoing too. 0:20 - The girls' vocals are amazingly clear and given body with the low undertone beneath their vocals an octave lower than what they are singing. This vocal performance accompanied by the extended guitar melody make for a great first verse. 1:00 - The girls' vocals are once again center-stage as the instrumentals enhance the mids and highs in the song's composition. I especially like that the background instrumentals follow the vocal's raise and low in pitch to give the vocals some more flow and enhance the change in pitch. 1:32 - This second verse's composition is more or less derived from the first verse, only this time with a kickdrum to further accentuate the atmosphere and give Jimin's rap even more body and speed, upping the tempo. I love the flow of the second verse. 2:32 - This half-time bridge is amazingly clear and the subbass is full of vibrance and warmth. The girls' vocals here take center-stage and give the bridge lots of body and soul, especially with the instrumentals underneath the vocals elevating the vocals even higher than the low, subbass floor. 2:50 - A very simple clap and vocal bridge climax here to focus the listener on the excellent vocal ability of the girls. The slow buildup also leads to a dramatic final chorus which re-introduces the base composition of the first chorus combined with the second chorus to end on a high note.
0:00 - The simple whistling is a melodic base combined with the stark dirty electric guitar. 0:20 - The vocals are the main focus here with a very bass pluck, guitar, and the repeat of the whistling from before. 0:49 - The half-time here also focuses on the excellent vocal abilities of the girls as well, letting the listener appreciate the vocals that much more as there is such a simple composition. 1:15 - The vocals here are accompanied by the return of that electric guitar with the kickdrum and whistling, making an awesome yet simple beat. 2:27 - The electric guitar here is subdued to allow the vocals to come forward that bit better, and I love how simple the composition is for the song whilst also keeping that repetitive catchy whistling in the background.
0:07 - The simple guitar plucking combined with the traditional kickdrum accompanying the soft vocals is a great, seductive start to the song. 0:38 - The introduction of an additional guitar to add to the composition is great as it gives the song some more body whilst still keeping the focus on the amazing, sexy vocals. 0:54 - The amazing, high harmonies of the girls combined with that rhythmic background composition makes for an awesome jazz beat. The echo in the high notes makes for some amazingly wide sound staging too despite them only singing in a high tone. 2:32 - The muted background composition here with the vocals allows the listener to really take in the amazing vocal ability of the girls. I love this part so much because it puts so much emphasis on their talent.
0:13 - That hard drum beat combined with their vocals is a nice, jazzy start to the song. 0:47 - The jazzy instrumental in the background combined with the girls' vocals is a head-rocker for sure. The background composition isn't busy enough to be muddled but still manages to keep the girls' vocals far forward. 2:20 - The soft "oooooh" sounds in the lower parts of the composition really elevate the girls' vocals and gives their vocals some body to enhance their vocals. The song otherwise has a very flat, low background profile.

As a whole, the EP really impressed me. I particularly enjoyed Come See Me and Ninety Nine. Come See Me had those Latin vibes that I am honestly so weak for in Korean pop. The Latin-inspired guitar melody really enhanced the body of the song. Their vocals were out of this world.
Ninety Nine stood out to me a lot thanks to that catchy composition combined with the alluring vocals of the girls. It's a nice, jazzy, seductive song.
This album is a great return for AOA, Come See Me is an amazing song and part of an amazing album.

Den-Fi reacted to sowon for a blog entry, MX Brown - Tactility? What Tactility?
The MX Brown is the last of the Cherry originals, its siblings being the MX Blue and MX Red, a clicky and a linear switch respectively. The MX Brown is the tactile switch that completes the trifecta of Cherry's flagship switch line.

I personally prefer linear for its smooth actuation, and tactile for its actuation indication, and unfortunately the MX Brown isn't tactile at all. It's almost a linear. I describe it as a Red with a food baby. The bump is so minimal, yet it is just enough to let you know that you've gone past the actuation point.
Taking a look at the stem, the legs are where the tactility is created. The small, tiny little dip in the legs that even my phone - that I used to take a photo of this stem - can barely detail it. While this particular stem that I have extracted from a Gateron Brown is particularly smooth, I imagine the likes of Cherry's Brown stems share the same characteristics.

Next up is the force curve of the MX Brown. The bump's peak force is around 55g with the actuation point at around 45g, and around 0.75mm away from the actuation bump. That's a large gap in delay between the bump and the actuation. While this wouldn't be noticeable in real world usage, I assume for those whom don't often bottom out will have to get used to the late actuation. I'd be inclined to think I confirmed a keystroke once I experienced the tactile bump.

The MX Brown is a tactile switch which also has the softest tactile bump of any tactile switch I have used. ZealPC's 62g Zealios being the most tactile switch I have ever used, with the sharpest, most pronounced, most detailed tactile bump I have ever used, and also with the bump being directly at the top of the keypress with no pretravel.

You could read my Zealios review here:

Another notable tactile switch I have used is the YOK Purple Trash Panda, which uses the same concept as the Zealios V2, sharing the same characteristics with the tactile bump being at the top of the keypress. Despite the Purple Panda being scratchier, I still prefer it due to the sharper tactility.

You can read my YOK Purple Trash Panda review here:

While the MX Brown is Cherry's flagship tactile, I don't feel like it deserves the moniker. It's barely tactile. While it does have a slight bump that allows the user to indicate when they have pressed a key, it's far from the standard of tactility that I expect from a tactile switch.

Den-Fi reacted to sowon for a blog entry, Zeal Zilent V2 - Zealios V2 With Pillows!
The Blue ZIlent V2 is a silent tactile switch offered by ZealPC, the same vendor who has created other famous switches such as the Zealios V2, Tealios V2, and the Healios. This time around, Zeal has created the Zilents V2 which was made to compete with the MX Clear.
The Zilents V2 are offered in 62g, 65g, 67g, and 78g weights, similar to its brother, the Zealios V2, which are also offered in those four weights, and additionally in four colors, with a progressively darker stem color with each weight option. I've personally chosen 65g as I own 62g Sakurios which I find a touch too light and 67g Tealios which are near the peak of my weight preference, so 65g was the middle ground in my weight taste. In my testing, I've compared the Zilent V2 to both 62g and 78g Zealios, and here's what I think.

Starting off with the stem, the color comes extremely close to the Tealios, the Zilents are more blue in hue than the Tealios, where the Tealios take on a more turquoise saturation key. The stems of the Zilent V2 are smooth and definitely up to the standard of other Zeal boutique stems, made of ultra smooth plastic and it shows in the feel of the switch. This time around, there are silencing rubbers similar to those found in the Healios and its recolors the Sakurios & Roselios, three more of ZealPC's silent switch offerings. These silencing rubbers are excellent and provide a soft, pillowy bottom-out on keypress as well as dampen the impact on the way back up as well.
These silencing rubbers also obviously make the switch a lot quieter as well, they slice about half of the sound profile of the Zealios V2, which is what the switch is designed after.

Pictured below on the left is a 78g Zealios V2, and on the right is the 65g Zilent V2 that I have been analysing. They share the same stem leg design as well as the same stem slider design, only on the Zilent, the bottom and top of the sliders are lined with rubber instead of the traditional plastic. These are the defining characteristics of the Zilents V2 which is why I often refer to these as silent Zealios.

The leaf inside both of these switches housings also remain identical to the human eye, with the legs of the contacts being highly protruded to promote that crisp and sharp tactile bump.

The Zilents V2 inherit the same traits as the Zealios V2, having a defined, sharp, crisp bump at the top of the keypress, much sharper than that of an MX Clear or MX Brown. This combined with the silencing rubber to soften the bottom-out and upstroke impact, this switch is an excellent choice for those that find the Zealios V2 to be too forceful with bottom-out and upstroke, as well as find the Zealios to be too loud for a tactile switch.

The ZIlents V2 are a modified switch done right, keeping all the traits of the Zealios V2 but improving them to target the market who want a silent variant.

To read my review on the Zealios V2 where I go in-depth about the actuation and design of the switch similar in fashion to how I reviewed the Zilents V2, you can read below where I have linked my original Zealios V2 review.

Well guys, my oh my has it been a month of pure excitement and an unexpected plot twist, the king has been dethroned!!!

But before we get into it I just want to say a few things, first and foremost, I want to thank the guys who have been helping behind the scenes, @Gorgon for his exceptional data handling and filling in for blog posts, @palespartan for being my rival giving a helping hand with data validation, prize allocation and a blog post or two and @Imbellis for validation and giving us a secondary source of point data. You guys really have been lifesavers this event and without you I honestly don't think the event would have ran at all as I would have needed to throw in the towel with all the hospital trips.

I want to thank every one of who participated, no matter if you made 3 points(yes, somehow that was a thing, I even validated it myself) or if you made over 800m *cough* @Yggdrasil128 *cough*, you really are all beautiful, amazing people. I also want to give a special thanks to you all for standing by me despite all the hospital trips and unavailability, I really appreciated all the warm messages I received wishing my partner good health, it will surly be needed over the coming months and possibly years.

Competition was stiff this year, with not only the highest number of sign ups for any folding event here on the forum but also some of the most impressive folding I've ever seen, period. You guys have rocked it hard and you should all be proud for what we accomplished. 17,933,433,473 points over the course of the event and moving from 10th place to 8th, but the science is not over and the folding must continue.

Roughly, if team LTT was measured on the top500 list of supercomputers we would have found ourselves somewhere around 70-75th, just think about that for a moment...

Please can all make sure we donate a few dollars to Jason over at EOC, his servers must have taken a beating with all the traffic we have thrown at the guy over the last month or so. You can either use this PayPal link or find the PayPal donation button on the EOC Website on the right. Don't forget to include a note thanking him so he knows its from team LTT.

    List of the dead

And now, without further delay, here are the final, verified ranks and prize winners.

In first place we have @Yggdrasil128, with 886,386,763 points over the course of the event. Mr. Drasil, now crowned the new king of folding for team LTT, really surprised us all, laying low for much of the event before making a dash to the top with his mercenary armies rented folding power, we don't mind how you get your points as long as you get them under your name. You truly deserve to sit in this spot, your prize os to have the bragging rights for the next 11 months, All Hail The King of Folding, 2019!

In second place we have the dethroned kind, @Den-Fi with 660,756,810, you really pushed hard towards the end of the month, but with some sandbagging at the start it has to be asked if you could have taken the crown, that is something we will never know. But, hear this, there is no shame here, for we are all winners when it comes to folding, as we fold, FOR SCIENCE!

In third place we have @Gorgon with 520,575,343 an impressive number, our very own Gorgon showing that we are all in it full tilt, even if we are consumed by crashing google sheets and failing giant IF statements. He was up there right from the start and really took the fight to the dethroned king, a real man of the people.

In 4th place we have @miker07 with 438,025,030, a fine effort from the folding month veteran.

in 5th place we have @catawalks with 415,533,572, if only he pushed that little more he could have taken 4th.

    6. @_Rlocke with 221,628,810.

    7. @JB25304 with 212,774,860.

    8. @leadeater with 202,564,470.

    9. @Favebook with 191,299,492.

    10. @GOTSpectrum with 186,742,539.

If you don't see your name on the list above you either did not sign up for this event or you did not meet the minimum requirements. All event badges will be handed out without any intervention needed from you guys, PLEASE DO NOT message me or the team about event badges.

Now it is time for the prizes!

I was planning to tag each winner but due to the number of prizes and limitation I have recently been made aware of the winning ranks will be listed here and the winners will be tagged in comments to this post. This will ensure all winners get a notification for the tag.

The winners will have 7 working days from the publication of this post to claim the prize, if the prize goes unclaimed it will be raffled again. In order to claim the Prize you will need to PM me here on the forum, with the subject

The first is, the billion point badge is now here!

    Well Ladles and Gentlespoons,

The fight for the top spot has gone from standard folding to full on nuclear warfare, With the king bringing in over 36 million points, but @Yggdrasil128 is blowing him outta the water with just over 41 million points, if he was a team of his own he would be 11th in the world. This is very much a real clash of the titans, but who can pull out all the stops and play that organ at full power... only time will tell.

Den-Fi reacted to GOTSpectrum for a blog entry, Day Twenty-one - Production Boost
Evening everyone. With the event still going strong we have just over 2 weeks left in the event and an estimate of 2.2 weeks to take the 8th spot on the overall list. But I personally think with a little elbow grease we can get it done before then so all steam ahead. But into the inter team battling:

in now first with a commanding amount of PPD (almost 30 million) is our king @Den-Fi with 361.2 million points. Having taken 2nd place a couple of days ago we now have @Yggdrasil128 with 337 million and he will stay there assuming that @Den-Fican keep up this insane amount of production. In 3rd now is @Gorgon with 322.2 million and seeming safe in that spot as well. Now that the big 3 are out of the way lets shift down the sheet a bit and see what other battles are happening.

In 50th we have @ladd134 with 33.6 million but is being very closely trailed by @ossi120 who is less than 200k behind with a good amount more production but even after @ladd134 gets passed he will have to battle it out with @Stormseeker9 who seems to have just a slight amount more production and is only 400k back from that 50th spot right now should be fun to see how that battle turns out in the next couple of days.

And moving further down the battle for 100th continues as @mparker42 holds the spot currently but with their production numbers will actually be moving up soon leaving @v.zollner to have to battle it out with a bunch of people since the difference between 99th and 112th is less than 1.4 million but the major contenders bassed on their production are @SynapseBreak @Gorillix and @shp based on their production.

But overall with the top 10 all but set in stone with their places the races for the everyone else are starting to heat up. Especially as people learn more about cloud computing and start using it to their advantage. So what will happen next? will we look at even lower battles? will we tag your name for seemingly no reason at all? am I running out of interesting things to say to keep you reading? Find it all out and more next time on Dragon Ba... I mean folding month blog post.

As always the usual team stats: top 10=28.26% top 50=52.7% top 100=68.57%

We are now most certainly over the half-way mark, its time to take a look a little further down the table, many of the prizes from ourselves and LMG are aimed at the top 100, so, lets have a look who has a chance to break past the century point!

In 101st we have @mparker42 with 19.4m whos production could see him push past the 100th mark, the same could be said for @VCInventerman with 19.3m, @Psycho-Ben with 19m and a production rate of 2.3m over the last 24 hours, he's really one to watch, @EnderDeath with 18.9m, @Gorillix has a 1.2m production over the last 24 hours. Further down the stack, @ir8munk33 with an impressive 1.9m points over the last 24 hours looks to be setting his sights high, maybe even higher than 100th place. @lorth Sitting in 193rd with 11.3m points over the last 24 hours and @JVK in 198th making 1.6m over the last 24 hours, you guys could really push up the table if you can keep it up!

All in all, you guys have excelled, I'm really just so impressed with your dedication and drive, pat yourselves on the back because its surely needed.

The top 10 takes 24.32% of the total today, with the top 50 taking 49.11% and the top 100 have 65.61% under their ranks for the last 24 hours.

Well another day another dollar. As day 18 passes by we are now over the half way point in the event. And at the current production rate its looking like we might take that 8th place spot just before the end of it to add a little cherry to our ice cream Sunday of a folding month. (Sorry if your lactose intolerant). But you're here just for the team stuff so into the dirty stats competition.

In first we still have @Den-Fi with a whopping 290 million points and will soon be the first to 300 million over the competition by tomorrow barely holding onto second we have @Gorgon who holds his place for the last day at 274.8 million since @Yggdrasil128 is only 160k behind still holding that 4th spot is @miker07 with 227.7 million behind them to round out the top 5 we have @catawalks with 182.6 million down in 6th we still have @_Rlocke holding on with 152.1 million. In 7th is still @leadeater with his massive cpu army giving him 106.4 million and @DUW1G1T steadily holding his 8th spot with 86.4 million. and in 9th and 10th we have @GOTSpectrum with 82 million and @Lucky7 with 77.7 million (I guess it really is a lucky number) respectively. But there are challengers on the horizon with @GoatCrasher and @JB25304 having really high production numbers we might see some tom foolery happening in the top 10 pretty soon... But you will have to tune into a future episode of Folding Month Stat Blog to find out...

We are her with yet another update, oh how times are exciting here at folding month 2019!

We have had all the plot twists, a fight for the number one spot continues to be stirring, the top ten is being shuffled more than a deck of cards being readied for blackjack and the best of all, my baby has begun the process of sleeping through the night(for the most part).

So, oh yes, the ranks, I know why you are all here really and its not to listen to be dribbling on.

The King himself @Den-Fi sits in a preciousness position in first, Followed by @Gorgon, @Yggdrasil128 is in third and is revving his cards on all FPUs making a dash for the top, @miker07 finds himself in fourth place, @catawalks in fifth, @_Rlocke takes 6th, @leadeater, the man with the plan, throwing all the cores at it is quite impressive for a mostly CPU folder, @DUW1G1T takes 8th place, followed by @GOTSpectrum in 9th and @Lucky7 in 10th.

The top 10 can claim 25.19% of todays production, the top 50 takes 48.92% while the top 100 gave us 65.51%.

Two weeks down and what a two weeks they have been. Between taking 9th spot overall, to outproducing curecoin to become the number one producing team, to yesterday having half a billion points in one day! Who knows what will come next all I know is we are up for the task now into the individual stuff.

As our leader in first we have @Den-Fi with 220.9 million points. Behind him we have @Gorgon who had the number one spot until a few days ago with 211.9 million points but both are in trouble of getting overtaken by @Yggdrasil128 who has 188.8 million but is producing over 22 million each day. In a safe 4th we have @miker07 with 180.4 million and to round out the top 5 we have @catawalks with 135 million but hopeful to battle his way into the top 5 is @_Rlocke who currently has 115.8 million but seems to have a slight edge in production over @catawalks . Further down it seems that @DUW1G1T has taken 7th from @GOTSpectrum with 64.4 million and 64.3 million respectively.  But @leadeater seems to be hot on their tails with 62.5 million points and 10.9 million in production. Then to round out the top 10 is @Lucky7 for now with 60.1 million but with so many people producing more this week than they were the battle is really on and it seems that no place is safe anymore. But what will happen next?... Tune in tomorrow to find out on our next edition of Folding Month Blog post.

    Top 10 produced 26.17%, top 50 produced 51.02%, and top 100 produced 64.85%

Den-Fi reacted to GOTSpectrum for a blog entry, Day Eleven - More To Come
Well guys, it looks like the team is clawing back some lost production as we are seeing a slight bump today, that half billion day is still elusive to us though, but it will happen.

In first place we see @Gorgon hanging on by the skin of his teeth with 164.66 million points, he looks like the king is poised to strike and take his lead over the next day or so, it will be interesting to see if he has anything to respond with or if he will need to concede to @Den-Fi who has ramped up production and has 164.35 million points to his name. In third place we see @miker07 with 139.84 million points, he must be finding himself looking at the rear-view mirror and wondering what, if anything he can do as there are a couple of people behind him looking to leapfrog his position. Forth place is taken by the challenger @Yggdrasil128 who is looking at the top dog, the king himself with envy in his eyes as he races towards dominance, currently holding onto 124.9 million points, he has some liming to go, but he does have the highest production of any participant for the time being. @catawalks takes fifth place with 96.9 million points, giving him a lead of over 15 million, placing him comfortably ahead of @_Rlocke  in sixth with 82.3 million points. 7th place is taken by @GOTSpectrum who continues to plod along consistently with 50 million points to his name, @DUW1G1T seems to be fairly consistent too with his 48.9 million points giving him a small but adequate lead over @Lucky7 in 9th place with 45.9 million points. @palespartan has been knocked out of 10th place and down to 12th as @Cbwgoose sits as the gate-keeper of the top 10 with 39.1 million points.

The top 10 has pumped out 24.48% of the events total for today, with the top 50 bringing home 50.64% and the top 100 claiming 65.44%.

Den-Fi reacted to GOTSpectrum for a blog entry, Day Eight - Production Soars For Week Two
Well guys, here we are, the first day of the second week and my oh my have we been busy bees, that 500m day is still elusive but we are creepy ever closer.

In first place we have @Gorgon with a massive 116.56 million points, he really has expanded his fleet since last folding month and finds himself in first, but that lead is slipping away as @Den-Fi is hot on his tail with 115.66 million, and seeing as the advancing royalists are outpacing the the rebel leader it's only a matter of time. Taking third place we have @miker07 who continues to play with the big boys holding onto the number three spot with 103.63 million points, in fourth we can see the teams biggest producer @Yggdrasil128 flying up the ranks at warp speed currently holding onto a ticket with 66.13 million points, fifth place is take by @catawalks with 64.2 million points, The cat man is slowing that he can do more than simply scratch a post. 6th place is taken by @_Rlocke with 57.8 million points, hes built himself up a mighty lead over @GOTSpectrum in 7th who has 36.1 million points to his name, 8th place we see @DUW1G1T continuing to push hard with 35.8 million points, hes so close to 7th he can taste the rainbow Mr spec is leaving behind. In 9th place we have @Lucky7 with 33 million points and he isnt feeling overly threatened by @palespartan in 10th who has 26.7 million points.

The top 10 brought home 24.44% of the points for this update, the top 50 ranks can claim 48.46% while the top 100 has 63.23% this update.

    Well guys,

This will have to be a quick one, if I have time I may come back and edit this later on, I'm not sure yet.

@Gorgon is still holding onto first place, @Den-Fi the king has rallied the troops and is marking on number one, @miker07 Seems to be enjoying himself sitting in third, @catawalks is in a dangerous position with a number of people below him out producing him, @_Rlocke seems to have found the wind and has given the order to make full sail, @Yggdrasil128 has entered the age of steam and is pushing forward at a tremendous rate, @DUW1G1T has found the extra hourses and taken 7th place, @GOTSpectrum finds himself in 8th after what appears to be a bad day of production, @Lucky7 continues his forward march keeping pace with the rest of the forces and in 10th we see @palespartan has made good on his promise and has conquest the number 10 spot, now only time will tell if this was a take and hold objective or simply an overstretching of supply lines.

    top 10 - 23.21%

    top 50 - 46.7%

With our fearless leader @GOTSpectrumindisposed I'll try to fill in with Today's stat's update ...

Team LTT has produced almost a billion points in the first three days of the event and since today are posting the most points per day of all Folding@Home teams with 423MPPD versus CureCoin's 392MPPD today.

A fierce battle is still raging for the lead but @miker07 remains in 1st place at 39 Miliion points and is slowly increasing their lead over @Gorgon at 38 million. @Den-Fi has ramped up production leading the pack over-all today but is still in third place overall at almost 36 million points. Its 32C in Glacock County Georgia and 5C in the Great White North. Will that be enough of a Delta-T for @Gorgon to stave off the advance of the Georgians? Will Mainfest Destiny come to realization?

@catawalks is in 4th at almost 22 million with @_Rlocke next at almost 17 million. @GOTSpectrum is in sixth place with 13.6 million with @DUW1G1T on his heels less than 100,000 points behind. @Lucky7 is on his own in 8th for now at 11.3 million and @palespartan in 9th at 9.7 million has 10th place @Yabdat just 80,000 points behind him.

@yaboistar in 11th place at 8.4 million but he better watch his six as @SpecialService is coming up fast in 11th place and bagged 3.2 million in the last day passing @TVwazhere who has fallen to lucky 13th at just a titch over 13 million but all is not well as @porina is swimming fast on his tail and is a little over 400,000 points behind but gaining by half a million PPD.

    @Cbwgoose, @viperssxt, @RollinLower, @Corrupt_Liberty, @sopordave and, @sanya567xxx round out the top 20.

The top 10 contestants are producing 21.5%, the top 50 45.4% and, the top 100 61% of the Competition's points. More than 700 out of 1750 registered participants are actively folding.

Don't forget you must fold for 20 over the 35 days of the event to be eligible for prizes so if you haven't started yet you've still got a little under two weeks to get started.

Den-Fi reacted to GOTSpectrum for a blog entry, Day Two - So Early, So Impressive
In these early days we start to see the initial ranks coming out, much can, and will change over the next 33 days, but for now we can get a small idea of generally where many of us will find ourselves, will we be comfortably finding ourselves fighting for a respectable top 100, maybe even top 10, or are we in for the misery of finding ourselves fighting to stay afloat in the middle. These numbers are interesting if nothing else and may be an indicator of what is to come, but one is is sure, that nothing is sure right now. So... lets get on with it.

We see @miker07 topping the chart with an impressive 25.54 million points so far, he is looking like the man to beat, the one who may finally dethrone the king, in second we have our very own @Gorgon with a still very impressive 24.77 million points, he will be looking forward with wonder, can he tune his rigs and close the gap. Third place we have The King, @Den-Fi he seems to have hit a hurdle already with 21.96 million points to show for all his effort over the last couple days, but he will be looking forward, he will be questioning, how do I take back my throne. In forth place we find @catawalks, a new comer to folding month who seems to be wanting to make his name known by taking the number 4 spot with 14.09 million points. In fifth we have @_Rlocke a veteran of the month of folding and a well known heavy hitter, I'm sure he will have more in the tank to come having produced 9.71 million over the last couple days. 6th place sees @DUW1G1T whos been pushed out of the top 5 by mr Locke, with 9.07 million points he cant really feel very comfortable as 7th place is @GOTSpectrum who is only 8k points behind that mark. We see a fair gap open of about 2.5 million points  before 8th can be seen and who is it, its yet another new name @Lucky7. He must be really thanking lady luck for the comfortable position he seems to be in with another million points behind him we have @palespartan with 6.5 million points, as one of the events core team and the reason for this event even existing he must be asking himself why he cant do more.To round out the top 10 we have @Yabdat, another familiar name for us who took part in last years folding month, the gate keep finds himself with 6.2 million points.

The top 10 have produced 20.75% of all points produced by folding month participants over the last 24 hours.

The top 50 make up 45.06% while the top 100 made 63% of todays total.

as always anyone who hasnt produced any points so far this month wont show up on the table below.

Den-Fi reacted to GOTSpectrum for a blog entry, Verset
Well guys, it is my pleasure to once again welcome people from all social echelons of the LTT forum to the second official Linus Tech Tips FOLDING MONTH!

We welcome folding titans such as @Den-Fi who is the sitting champion, @Gorgon who will be eyeing up the top spot this year with the intention of dethroning the king and @_Rlocke who has promised to give us a good show with more hardware to throw around this year. LMG staff such as @jakkuh_t will hopefully be joining us along with moderators such as @TVwazhere and @leadeater. @Tomerrs is nowhere to be seen though, and with his startling leap to second it will be a real shame without him.

We have seen the biggest number of participants to date sign up  for any folding event so far. I'd really like to take a moment to thank each one of you; from guys with multi RTX rigs right down to the CPU folders, all are welcome and appreciated here at folding month!

It has been an exciting year for tech, with the release of RTX cards we are seeing productions numbers that are seemingly unreal to what we had only a few short years ago, along with high core count chips from AMD at affordable prices and the falling prices of HEDT platforms from Intel's previous generations make it ever more easy to get yourself set up with some decent hardware and start smashing out the WUs under the orange banner of team LTT!

Could we all give thanks to the team this year, we gain nothing out of this event other than your gratitude so please give a hand to: @palespartan who folding wouldn't exist without, @Gorgon who helps facilitate the stats handling, @Imbellis who will be offering a secondary source of production data,  @Ithanul and @dean_21 who will assist with data validation, and finally myself, who will be working hard behind the scenes building the datasheet, organising data and writing these wonderful blogs.

I'm feeling a little rusty with the writes up so please excuse me getting back into the swing of things as the event goes on. We have the most advanced datasheet to date when compared with folding week 2017, folding month 2018 and the summer folding sprint of 2019. With multiple methods of validating data, increased redundancy of data fetching and more hands to share the load we are hoping there won't be a repeat of last years mishaps.  Here's to hoping for a good clean event. But, if you do notice any errors or mistakes please do feel free to drop me a PM then we can investigate and get it sorted as quickly as possible.

One thing I have to say is once the month is over I really hope to see you guys continuing to fold. We have always punched well above our weight class when it comes to the number of active folders we have compared to the number of points we can churn out on a daily basis. When I first started folding the team was in decline, but since the first folding month we have exploded, and I hope to see that continue into the future.

As usual just a little PSA, we are a small tight-knit community here, so if someone helps you out don't forget to thank them and give them a reaction, Also always remember we fold as a team first and for individual glory second. So be kind, be humble, here at Folding Month 2019!

With only a few days to go we have been working hard behind the scenes, building the datasheet, advertising the event and delegating tasks. But the time for planning is coming to an end, and the time for action is fast approaching. These last few days are crucial, so get checking stability, tuning clocks, running general maintenance and prepare to push your hardware right to the limits of what they were designed to do.

Let us all bask in the warmth of our folding rigs, listening to the pur Scream of the fans blasting away and be proud of just what we can accomplish when we come together.

Den-Fi reacted to sowon for a blog entry, Kailh Box Jade - The Best Clicky Switch to Ever Exist
The Kailh Box Jade is one of the most famous clicky switches in the mechanical keyboard scene, boasting a thick click bar, MX stem with a box, and moderate afforadability at around $0.34 at any major mechanical keyboard switch retailer.
I have owned and use Kailh Box Jades for a month on my main keyboard and have experienced great joy from using these particular switches, they have a consistent click and actuation, and the sound of them is crisp and full, compared to that of the Cherry Blue's click jacket, which in contrasts sound hollow, dull, plasticky, and unapologetically cheap.
The Kailh Box Jades were my second major mechanical keyswitch, the first being the Outemu Blue in my previous E-Element Z-88 mechanical keyboard. The Jades blow the Blues out of the water in every single way.

As mentioned earlier, the Kailh Box Jade feature what is called a click bar,the small metal, paperclip-like bar in the middle of the bottom housing, this in conjunction with the stem leg on the switch's stem is what creates the satisfying, full, punchy click of the Kailh Box Jade.
The click feels as good as it sounds. The super thick click bar generates a very loud, typewriter-like sound signature that exudes pleasure on every keypress. It is that good of a keyswitch and I would easily call these the best clicky switch available to buy on the market at present.

The box around the stem is not just for aesthetics either, it's for dust protection as well as keycap stability. The housing is made by Kailh and does feature the traditional four pegs but rather only two clips on the side which shows in the unique bottom housing and the stem to accomodate. As a result, frankensteining these switches with other switches such as Gateron Blues or Zealios will not work. I have however had luck swapping the springs an dstems of the Kailh Box Jades and Pale Blues as they both feature the Kailh housing.

My one complaint about the switch is its weight, at stock, it takes approximately 70-73g of force to overcome the click followed by 50g of force to actuate after the initial bump. I found this heavy after long sessions, although your mileage may vary, and I am a fan of light linear switches, so a fairly heavy clicky switch like this was not in my alley. I believe if you are able to have the finger stamina to type on these switches, you'll find them very satisfying, just as I did. I believe the weight is what creates that heavy and full click, as I imagine a lighter spring or thinner click bar would result in a quieter, toned-down, crumbled down click compared to the crisp clean click of the Kailh Box Jade.

As a complete package, the Kailh Box Jade is easily my favorite clicky switch. It has a crisp & sharp click thanks to that thick click bar and decent weight albeit a bit heavy for my tastes. I have not had the opportunity to use the Kailh Box Navy, the Jade's heavier brother, but I would assume with my glaring concern regarding weight and finger fatigue of the Jade, that I would find the Navy a bit overbearing for my fingers, and I find the Jade the perfect mix of click and actuation.

Den-Fi reacted to sowon for a blog entry, Tealios V2 - The Smoothest Switch Around
The Tealios V2 are a boutique linear switch offered by ZealPC which features a 67g spring, Gateron-made housing, and a smooth, linear stem in Tiffany & Co. blue, no I'm not joking, the pantone for the stem is inspired by Tiffany & Co, and it's adorable. It sets itself apart from color from Zeal's popular purple Zealios, Hermes orange Healios, and pink Sakurios and Rosélios switches.

I bought a 68 pack of Tealios V2 from KBDfans, for $1 a switch, which is expensive especially when I have a 60% keyboard. I would definitely say it's well worth investing in the Teals if you are after the smoothest switches on the market, a close second in my eyes are the Gateron Ink Blacks.
What gives the Tealios its extremely smooth actuation is its stem legs, the stem itself appears to be made out of an outstandingly smooth plastic mould, and it shows in its construction where nowhere on the stem is rough to the touch. The legs are also angled perfectly to give the linear actuation of the stem a good balance between weight on the downpress and upstroke.

Even from factory unlubed, these stems and by extension the Tealios as a whole switch feel extremely smooth to use, it's one of the best linear switches to use stock in my opinion purely because of how smooth the stem has been made.

Despite its stock smoothness, I lubed my Tealios switches with a mildly-thick coating of Tribosys 3204 on the housing sliders as well as the entire stem, and this ultimately made the switch all users of linear switches should try. Zeal cracked the code for how to make the smoothest linear possible, and it's thanks to the ever-smooth stem.

Personally, after using these Tealios lubed with Tribosys 3204, I don't think I can settle for anything less anymore. I formerly used NovelKeys Creams and even those now feel scratchy thanks to my time with the Tealios. Same can be said for Gateron Reds where while they are smooth, they feel hollow and far too light.

The Tealios are a well-weighted switch which when paired with lube make the best linear switch in the game. If there was one thing to keep me from rating it a 100% switch, it would be the spring weight. I find 67g a little too heavy personally, although the weight also does accentuate the smoothness a lot, so I feel 67g is just the right spot. A spring swap to 62g might eleviate the heft a bit but like mentioned before, may reduce the feel of the actuation force and leave me wanting more out of the switch.
