Judging by an earlier SU, I'll say one from Lenovo. Possibly one with a 4700u, if those are already out.

    3. Spotty

@lewdicrous It weighs so much because of all the extra cores it has

    4. lewdicrous

      Makes sense.

  2. Should I re-run it on my 3970X? This iteration seems much longer. (I did it on level1 the other day)
  3. This F@H extension from @LAR_Systems is pretty awesome.

What is Folding at Home? Folding clothes at home?

    2. TVwazhere

@AshRiver Folding refers to Folding proteins. Its essentially donating your hardware to medical research to study how proteins fold themselves. Practical applications of these studies range from research for most medical diseases like Parkinson, cancers, and even COVID-19. \

      Looks awesome!

      Nice work @LAR_Systems!

  4. Don't be making fun of my hard workers! They've earned respect.
  5. The march towards 50k continues!

    1. Lurick

      Ah, I see @FakeNSA

You try to steal the rep for yourself!

  6. BWAHAHAHAHA.... funny story.

There was once a time I was mildly frustrated with Etude.

It has a B450-I and for the life of me I could not get all the RGB LEDs to shut off.

I re-flashed the BIOS thinking it was just screwy out of the box.

That did nothing and it had a side door that was barely see-through, so I didn't waste much effort.

Fast forward to today. I sold my Asus Zenbook to @The Blackhat and also an Inland Premium 1TB NVMe SSD.

Hat DMs me and is like WHY DOES THIS SSD HAVE LEDS?!

I'm like oh wow that weird. We checked the Micro Center page for it and 0 mention of the LEDs.

They also don't have any way to control them. I laugh it off as strange since (as Hat points out) this something to market to the rainbow puke fetishists..

I get sleep and start to doze off.

    My brain jolts awake.

    I am amused.

I picture @Den-Fi in old style 50's pin stripe pajamas with a cove hat with a ball at the end of it, in bed with a teddy bear all sound asleep and then, cheesy sitcom style, sits up immediately and shouts RGB!!!!!!!

    3. Den-Fi

Replace teddy bear with human, and pjs with boxer briefs and yeah pretty much.

    4. Damascus

I actually modded my inwin 301 to have rgb front panel, the USB/PWR etc. have a frosted acrylic housing that was just perfect for it

  7. Why dream when you can use brute force?
  8. Nope. Normal. My 2080 Ti STRIX never broke 70C even when folding. Now on water it never goes over 43C.
  9. Is Heaven maxed out or just at standard settings? Also, without context, those temps don't mean much. What does the loop look like? What size rads? Have you checked to make sure your inlets and outlets are correct in the loop?
  10. Something I did recently was slip a $190 entry level used T2i w/ crappy kit lens into my camera lineup. One reason was personal curiosity. The other was to see if people who keep crediting my "expensive cameras" as the reason my photos are liked, would notice.

You really don't need to go out and spend a ton on a camera. Esp if it is not a source of income for you.

Lighting and skill on the other hand... you need plenty of those.

The main reasons I always have a modern body are 1. it's a source of income and a write-off. 2. There are so many conveniences I missed while using the T2i. Quality of life is something that cannot be overlooked in a tool. 3. The technology is awesome and I love it. As sensor tech improves, I don't have to be constrained by light but instead, can focus on other things and shoot in worse conditions. 4. Because I want to Den, lol. But you already knew that.

tl;dr -Get an eye for photography and some experience before you dump a bunch of money into it. I started w/ an XTi and you really don't need to get terribly far from that until you start to factor in other things and it makes sense.

I agree it can be awkward but I’ve taken some absolutely awesome pictures on my phone. Because like you said its the only camera that’s on you sometimes

    3. Den-Fi

Yeah. It's just not good at the type of photography I do. You can get great results for sure, but when I truly want to take something that represents my own vision, it will definitely be with a DSLR. Most of my personal work attempts to pay respect to the beauty and work put into the object being shot. I mean, just look at that EOS R/50mm. From a design standpoint it's absolutely beautiful. The heatkiller block is awesome and that skull was handmade by one of my friends. The GN mat also had a ton of effort put into it. I like to pay respect to the things I photograph and the people that made them.

I get that way with people too, but computational photography on phones is made with people and scenery in mind. It can be good for capturing those things. It's absolutely not designed for taking pics of PCs, knives, and other things like that. It wants to sharpen and/or soften to try and make skin/eyes more appealing or saturate to try and make nature appealing. Just the way it is.

That was a lot more words than I intended lol.

    4. TopHatProductions115

The one thing that ticks me off most about using integrated phone/tablet cameras is how the lens is always off-center, so I can't just point the back of the device at the target. Have to do weird adjustments as I approach the target, to make sure the scene and subject are centered. For far-off shots, it's not too much of an issue. But for close-ups and such, it's a PIA.
