  1. Apple is dumb.... why didn't they just go with AMD instead of making their own chips?!?!?!!?

That's why... it's always been why even when AMD proved itself in terms of performance.

AMD has YEARS--maybe even decades--to go before the big boys can truly rely on them for the volume they need.

This is what so many people fail to understand when comparing the size of Intel to AMD.

    INTEL. IS. MASSIVE.

So AMD uses TSMC to fabricate its CPUs and is having a hard time competing with other companies for that fab time...so Apple's solution is to join them in competing for said fab time?

This is somehow a benefit? You'd think that by purchasing CPUs from AMD they'd be able to do larger orders which would make them more likely to get fab time from companies like TSMC as they'd have higher production off of their runs.

fair, but having to use AMD's CPUs might land apple in the same shortage in some form as well...? or maybe TSMC might lower the priority of apple's iDevice CPU orders if they're not ordering more apple ARM fab time from them directly? o_o

I'm entirely certain Apple has more pull than AMD with TSMC.
