      80% of college students I meet use their $2000 mac for typing essays. A core 2 duo with an SSD and 8GB of RAM will work just fine. My Formula SAE team is running solidworks on Pentium Ds as I write.

      even for gaming if you upgrade to a core 2 quad and pair with gtx 1050ti it'll run 99% of the games out there sure it might not be as good as sandybridge i5 combo but this hardware still is capable. it makes me sad when they're thrown out as junk because contrary to popular belief it's not junk the lifespan can be extended
