  1. Stupid question, but does this mean that I'd need to replace the entire keyboard base/deck? Or just replace the scissor switch? Unfortunately that was the best angle I could get with my phone camera.
  2. Got a replacement XPS 17 yesterday, everything is fine except for one thing: my H key. It's loose, and if I press it near the left end it kind of pops up and gets stuck like that. Otherwise, the key works fine. Is this something I can fix on my own, or is this something that Dell will need to replace for me?
  3. Rest assured, if it was financially beneficial, tech companies would gladly share your data with governments, like they do anybody else willing to pay for it. Two sides of the same coin, IMO. Politicians and tech companies desire the same things: money and power.
  4. Yeah so I ended up going with the Corsair MP510 and it's working like a charm. But the 960GB model only had ~893GB of usable storage so that kind of sucks...
  5. Hey, I'm looking to upgrade the SSD on my Dell XPS 15 9560 to get more storage, as I want to dual-boot Windows 10 and Linux (Specifically, Manjaro). My laptop currently has some SK Hynix SSD. I've never heard of this company and up until yesterday actually thought I had gotten a Samsung SSD installed (they may have switched it out when I fried the laptop earlier this year, but I digress...) The Corsair Force MP510 960GB m.2 SSD has caught my eye, mainly because it is on sale on Newegg right now for $169.99 CAD. There's a 1TB HP EX920 SSD for the same price. I considered the Intel 660P but the LLT video on it and QLC turned me away from it. I don't know very much about SSDs compared to other hardware components so I'm hoping to get some advice on here. I'm going to use the SSD for dual-booting, playing and installing games, as well as working wtih FL Studio though the files shouldn't be too big. I'll also hopefully be doing some programming. I don't need Samsung 970 level speeds here, I'm not down to spend $300+ CAD for an SSD... The most I'm willing to go is probably $200 CAD. I'm hoping to have 450 GB for each OS (I don't know if, or expect, all 960GB or 1TB of storage space to be available). Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
  6. Thanks! Does that go for the uubiquiti nanobeams only or the range extenders as well?
  7. Well it's a relatives' house lol, I haven't been disowned yet (AFAIK) and I have the password so I should have permission. It would be more convenient to get it at the house I'm in rather than go there every time I want to watch a video on YouTube.
  8. That's the easy way out lol Hm... Would the extender go in our house or theirs?
  9. So two houses down (approximately 50m distance) the owner of the house has given us the password for their wifi network. We can get a very week signal right up against the fence, but absolutely nothing inside the house and even outside the signal is not stable, basically it connects but that's about it. I'm looking at two network adapters (USB) to use for my laptop and a desktop from ASUS: USB AC68 and USB AC56. Will the AC56 adapter be sufficient to get a good signal (I won't be playing games online or anything like that) or should I just go with the AC68? Or will neither of them work very well? I plan on using the laptop in the house,
  10. I've seen similar tools to the EZ-Out tool you're talking about. Going to try the pliers later this week and see if that works. Can I ask what specific tools in that iFixIt set are used for removing stripped screws? I'd like to see if I can find just those rather than the whole set which is like $80 CAD.
  11. Added some pictures. I'm way too nervous/paranoid to hammer the screwdriver into the screw or put a drill anywhere near the internals of this laptop lol..
  12. So I was attempting to remove the heatsink on my 9560 to re-paste the laptop. The first two screws came out fine, and went back in fine. I don't know if Dell uses really cheap screws but the remaining ones stripped. Troubleshooting on my own only made it worse. I'm looking to buy new screws for the heat pipe (they're size M2x3mm) but need to get them out first. Tried the elastic method, but that didn't work at all. Anyone here have any experience with this (or should I just be posting this on the Dell support boards) and if so what worked for you? Edit: Also, considering this will be used for the heatsink, is there a certain type of screw I should be looking to get? Or will any screw of this size do the job? Edit 2: Should have added pictures to begin with.
  13. Are video game developers willing to risk this turning into a domino effect?
  14. And they're DRM free which is a win right there. Though they don't have as large a catalogue as Steam. Edit: well you beat me to it, @Zodiark1593
