That's cause crossfire was crap back then (in my opinion). I had hd5770s in crossfire a couple months ago, and almost no games supported it properly.

That's not Coffee Lake. 8th generation processors are just updated Kaby Lakes. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2017/08/intel-first-8th-generation-processors-are-just-updated-7th-generation-chips/

LCR is also one reason and cross talk electrical conductivity,
More grouped transistors next to each other closer to each other has a high potency of causing micro errors because of the electricity,
Heat, Size, Power, And the tech isn't just there yet, Also just producing such chips is hard for them to have a 100% success rate of making things like that, there's a fail rate of making small sized dyes + chemicals solutions etc.
    That's why you have I1 I2 I3 I4 I5 I6 I7 I9, I1 being the waste product of the failed chips.

Also heat causes problems with electronics a chip will work better when cool, "writing/reading/compute" etc errors.

My guess is that your PC is "on the edge", and the benchmarks are simply more demanding than games, and thus push it far enough to reveal the problems and/or instability, while the games do not.

Fixed vcore means your CPU will stay at that vcore, and will be unable to get more voltage to clock higher.
Auto vcore means that the CPU can turbo properly.
Offset means you can add a specified amount of voltage ontop of the default.
Basically, there's no problem here, that's just how it works.

Thermals are pretty much the main reason. More cores using more power = more heat.

(嗜杀本性)狼队 女 梅 reacted to Changis in Best way to stay on top of driver & firmware updates
windows typically handles most of your drivers now, even video drivers, though they will be old by the time microsoft has ok'd them, and original drivers tend to give better performance.

gpu drivers gets updated because their use continuously changes based on the game or other usage, improving performance in some aspects..

wifi, usb etc usage does not change at all, so you don't see a usb driver update for a 15% increase of the 16gb corsair voyager gt for instance.

Tl;Dr: keep your gpu drivers up to date, the rest is handled by windows

Don't get software called "Driver booster" or any of the "Auto Driver updaters" They get versions of drivers not listed by the vendors and can be malicious impact performance or be data mining or use your computer for a botnet/bitmining.

Get updates from your respected device vendors, and from your windows update.

Just saying for your own safety, The guy above me kinda already gave the right info,
I am just stating this because people are fooled and tricked all the time by the "easy one in all solutions" when they are fake.
    They are freeware/malicious solutions.

    Well yeah basically.
Ifyou have a 144hz monitor that can only display 144FPS saying that you get more from the game or feel like you do at FPS higher than that (which is the physical limit of the screen) seems like jibberish to me.

To me that's like saying "My car is going 100mph, but adding costum rims will make it faster."
    I remain sceptical.

If your mobo has software for it, use that. Otherwise there's no need for update unless something isn't working. Even with GPU drivers. I used 2 years same drivers since there wasn't any need for newer ones.

To me this sounds like something memory related, I once had a memory stick that got loose and since it didn't have enough memory everything slowed down drastically. You might want to observe the memory usage when the problems start to happen.

I am currently noodling about in Device Manager and seeing what the posted versions of various drivers are. The thing that got all this started was a problem with wireless drivers a few weeks ago that kinda sorted itself out. But still, I decided to check out http://www.killernetworking.com/driver-downloads/item/killer-control-center-x64 page and compare their listed versions to the one's I currently have.

    Using the wireless example
Killer Wireless-n/a/ac 1535 Wireless Network Adapter Driver Date: 2016-03-21 Driver Version: 12.0.0.230 The current version is 12.0.0.325 which if I am reading the release notes properly, came out a week or so ago. Now Killer looks to have its own driver manager like Nvidia does, but I expect I could just go through Device Manager and do the manual updates that way.

I will take collective advice and stay the hell away from all-in-one third party driver managers. Not surprising that they are a haven for malware.

In an update to a long running legal issue for AMD concerning their Llano APUs from 2011 and the class action lawsuit about it's performance filed in 2014, AMD has announced that they will be paying out $29.5 million to close out the lawsuit.

    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/08/28/amd_drops_295m_on_llano/
Now that AMD appears to be getting their feet back under them with their Zen architecture and the whole Epyc, TR & Ryzen CPU line-ups they can hopefully not have to worry about having to pay out higher legal fees and maybe put that money into further development of improving their architecture.  Just wish that this lawsuit would have served as a better lesson over the hype training that AMD can suffer from (although some of that may come more from AMD fans than AMD itself and Intel's lack of significant improvements)...

Theoretically yes, but GPUs are nowhere near as flexible as CPUs so it would probably be very difficult to do.

(嗜杀本性)狼队 女 梅 reacted to Drak3 in Can a GPU run its own OS?
Technically, yes gou can. However, it would need to be a basic, low level OS and you'd basically be locked into compute worloads.

This is how the Xeon Phi coprocessor came to be. They run a specialized Linux kernal, and it acts as a slave system to a workstation/server.

I think what they're saying is the cheat program would bypass any checks that are looking for suspicious draw calls to the API. Because once it reaches the driver, which compiles the calls into GPU commands, then it's basically out of reach.

But I don't see how this would make cheating more prevalent if we're running the OS (and by that extension, the application) on the GPU. They're all now in essentially local memory.
