  1. I guess anybody can lie and fake stats but a corporation the size of Enermax would really sour their rep if they did. I actually bought 2 of them and it appears they just reworked the impeller and housing. Laing makes the D5 and DDCs probably for 2 different things 1 as a high volume-D5 and 1 as high pressure -DDC. They both are excellent and have the reputations to back them. therefore why change them? I think as long as you buy a Laing DDC from a reputable company you will be happy. I was researching pumps because I was going to run 1 pump for my whole loop of 2 gpu's and 1 cpu and wanted to make sure I had the pressure. They were so inexpensive I just ended up buying 2 enermaxes and another radiator for the gpu's instead.
  2. Recently I went pump/res shopping and there are several new pumps in the last 2 yrs. I'm a D5 fan but Not all D-5 pumps can pump as far or as much head (Basically head is if you were to push the water straight up a pipe how high it could go) Most D-5s are 1200-1500LPH Volume, and 3,7-4 meters head DDC pumps are generally 500-900LPH and 5.7Meters head (higher pressure) I found the new Enermax combo is 900LPH and 5.2M head and is D-5 Based but their own design. I don't like the hotter running high pressure DDCs myself and have always ran the super quiet and cooler high volume D5s. However the DDC's had higher pressure- That is no longer true. (5.2M of head is 17Ft of vertical push overcoming water weight and gravity)
  3. It would not be good for the pump to run with air in the CLC as it cools the pump as well as the cpu. I would cut 1 hose, refill with distilled water and get a clamp like a automotive hose clamp and reseal it or its days are probably numbered.
  4. Exactly what Damascus said. That would be the easiest and probably cheapest, i think. You could always spray the conformal coating stuff on the circuit board as well just for extra humid salty air effects if you arent toatally airtight on the case. The PSU would have to be outside as well to get cool air I would just carry a spare and spray it as well.
  5. If your really worried you could use some fine 3m scotchbrite pad on it.

  7. If your keeping the top closed off your probably not exhausting enough air for a big non blower GPU. Your cpu temps will rise as compared to having 2 fans in the top. The video above shows 2 -120s in the top of the case during all tests and he even got a 10c rise with the top rad and fans because the case wasn't exhausting enough GPU heat fast enough I assume thru the radiator which is added restriction at the top. Also remember heat rises.
  8. If all out quiet is your goal the best way to achieve it is with the most radiator surface. That way you can spin your fans slower ,and achieve the same cooling result. That limits you to 360's in AIO coolers like Fractals Kelvin S36 or Celsius S36 expandable AIO coolers. Of course you would have to take out the cage in front of the case to do this.
  9. The Fractal designs Celsius 336 AIO is the only one I have seen that is reasonable and expandable FWIW EK makes a system and Swifteck but they dont have the pump on the block like the Fractal FWIW Jaystwocents did a review on it. If that pump/block trips your trigger. You can easily add the GPU later.
  10. No don't use Kool- Aid or food coloring because its essentially sugar as well! The bacteria growth and clogging will ensue! The problem Jay had was with the Pastels and Pauls Hardware had it too again with Pastel fluid. It is basically white particles suspended and then color is added. You didn't say if you were looking for a solid type pastel Purple or a more Translucent. I have been hard researching fluids for days myself. I wont use any pastel. Period. Mayhems has a good rep for colors - (Other than pastels) I just ordered this fluid. Its cheaper makes more and is mixed in Gallons PrimoChill True™ Infused - Insanely Concentrated Liquid Pre-Mix (8oz) - UV Blue The other thing most agree on is the red dyes are problematic and unfortunately red is most of what is used to make purple. People that use greens blues yellows and clears have almost zero problems with colors. Providing they didn't mix metels etc. The coolant I used is not recommended for any aluminum, But my loop is all copper. Just read the warnings on whatever you buy for sure
  11. They recommend using a biocide like PT Nuke if you do not use a kill coil, actually even if you do I believe you can use it as well from what I have read everywhere. I think its 2-3 drops per litre of distilled water or algae and stuff can grow. Plain distilled water is the best and cheapest and longest lasting coolant just add a biocide. (or kill coil where applicable)
