  1. Those all feel like band-aids to me. There should be a real solution out there to get it functioning properly so I don't have to think about it.
  2. After changing motherboards, my powered USB 3.0 hub is keeping my keyboard backlights on even after I shut down the computer, and I want to fix this. This behavior is occuring with an MSI B550 Tomahawk with a 5600x. I have my old Z87 Sabertooth with a 4770k in another PC, and if I plug the USB hub into it, it properly turns off the keyboard when I shut down the PC. -I've tried disabling fast startup and/or USB selective suspend in windows power options -I've tried enabling/disabling ErP in BIOS -I've tried changing wake on event setting in the BIOS -I've updated the motherboard BIOS Plugging the keyboard directly into the PC isn't an option because I need the distance the hub provides. The keyboard is a Logitech G710+ and I'm on Windows 10 64 bit. I have the black version of this hub.
  3. I have two G.SKILL DDR3 kits with the exact same size, speed, and timings, only one is a low voltage kit and the other is not. Should I be able to combine them without problems? And if I do, what voltage do I run them at? My motherboard is an Asus Z87 Sabertooth. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231416 https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231461
  4. I've been using dish soap, but it doesn't do much. I used Mayhems Ultra Clear soft tubing, I wonder if that's the problem. I thought plasticizer would be more soft and rubbery though. This stuff is hard. I'm having to scrape some of it off with my fingernails or metal tweezers, because the toothbrush just isn't cutting it. It's also caked down between the fins of the GPU block, making it really difficult to remove. Looks good, I'll have to get some.
  5. I thought EK Cryofuel was supposed to be one of the less messy coolants? I disassembled my loop after about a year and it's left quite a lot of staining and deposits of gunk that's difficult to clean off. It's the additive kind, mixed with distilled water. The first two shots are before cleaning, because I'm still working on them. The buildup of blue gunk is taking hours of soaking and scrubbing to take off. The last picture is the CPU block after cleaning. You can see the blue staining is still there.
  6. It's actually been updated a bit more recently than that, and it's still very relevant. You can find more great radiator reviews at http://thermalbench.com/

  8. So I've been using the Asus router in AP mode with the Zyxel gateway's wireless turned off, and it works pretty well. Attaching the vertical stand to the ASUS RT-N66U boosts the signal a lot for some strange reason. This setup allows me to use the ethernet ports on both devices. Would there be any benefits to switching the gateway to bridge mode, and using the Asus as a router? I know I'd lose the use of the ethernet ports on the gateway, but would there be any benefits?
  9. Which Bolt? Seems like there are multiple versions. And why would he need a new case?
  10. That's a 7C and a 6C temperature delta between ambient and water. Both of those are very good results. Also, a 15 minute test isn't long enough to show the benefit of having those radiators as all exhaust. After gaming for 4 hours you'll still be getting good temperatures if they're exhausting, but if one was intaking you'd likely get a big buildup of hot air inside of the case, with the case itself heating up as well. That's exactly what was happening to me, anyway.
  11. Could be the vibrations of the pump resonating with the case. Can you try gripping the pump in your hand (to stop the vibrations from transferring to the case) and see if that quiets it?
  12. I was having a very similar issue with temperatures and airflow in my thread here. I fixed it by switching all radiator fans to exhaust. It's funny because I'm actually planning on moving to a PC-O11D myself, because it's such a great case for having two exhausting triple radiators. I also intend to have fans intaking fresh air from the bottom of the case. There's no need to drain the whole loop. I assume you're talking about the top fan on the side radiator. Just unplug it so it's not running, and then ghetto-rig up another fan if you can. Either squeeze it in there on top of the current one, or try to stuff it in the back compartment behind the radiator. Just for testing.
  13. I see, it worked the way I had it, but would likely have problems. I switched the Asus router to AP mode. The wireless signal I'm getting from it is worse than the Zyxel gateway though. I'm disappointed. Also, Asus says to use the WAN port on the router. Apparently it turns into a LAN port in AP mode so the other LAN ports are free.
  14. I connected my wireless router to the gateway and went through the router setup, and everything seems to be working... But I haven't even changed the router to Access Point mode yet. I can connect wireless devices to my router's new network just fine, and wired devices connected to the gateway and router are both working fine. Why? Shouldn't I need to switch the router to Access Point mode or the gateway to bridge mode? I'm confused.
