  1. Yeah i thought so. Not used to this forum thing hahaha (can i move it perhaps, I'd love to) I got my RAM for about 50 bucks (2.5k php) on dynaquest last 2016, literally half the price of 2x4 gig kits (they run for about 5k). Perhaps I should just accept this inflated price, so sad :<
  2. Love to hear your thoughts on this one Component List: CPU - i3 6100 2c 4t 3.70 Ghz Motherboard - MSI B150 Bazooka RAM - Corsair DDR4 2400mhz 2x4gb kit GPU - Zotac Geforce GTX 1060 6gb Mini PSU - Seasonic M12ii Evo 520w Case - A metal shroud. (its fine. for holding the components.) Storage - Adata 120gb SSD; 1tb WD Blue HDD After 2 years of CONSISTENT use: Two (2) of my ram slots are dead. (The pair closest to the CPU) Due to my motherboard, max ram speeds are 2133 only. good thing i can tighten the memory timings. (Went from 15-15-15-36 @ 1.2v | >>> | 10-12-12-31 @ 1.35v) 8gb of ram is starting to be insufficient with the latest titles as I always get pageswaps that causes stuttering in gameplay. My CPU is STRUGGLING to keep up with my GPU, usually 100% utilization while GPU is sitting there with 70%. GPU is by far the best component ever. Still kicking it with the latest titles, sadly its bottlenecked by the CPU. My motherboard's feature set are slowly getting dated (i.e. lack of M.2 support and USB 3.0 Gen2 Type-C) PSU just started having COIL WHINE, I might need to RMA this boi but we'll see. Case airflow is tragic so i removed the side panel. Storage is fine for the most part, but SSD storage feels lackluster, with just 120gb to play with it's not enough. also, NO RGB ANYWHERE!!! UNBELIEVABLE! ehem...Overall, not bad for my first PC. I learned a LOT from these past 2 years about hardware limitations and general compatibility. You really want to hit that Sweet Spot of Price to Performance AND Reliability. Some people skimp out too much in the Reliability department thus creating problems after a few years of use? I would LOVE to get an upgrade, but as it stand i would rather wait for a few more years as AMD and Intel's next lineups will flow. (Possible) Upgrade path: 1 - New Mobo and CPU pair (with 16gb RAM if possible) (please memory chip gods lower your price) 2 - GPU change (perhaps the 20-series of nvidia or maybe amd's navi gpu's...who knows. for the moment i still love my GTX 1060.) 2.1 - PSU change (if i rma this PSU then i might not need to get a new one for the GPU.) 3 - Storage; new SSD, preferably the QLC flash dies from samsung. (i.e. price per GB) 4 - A new Case to put all this shii~ together. 5 - A proper desk. TY. PS: I didn't really know where to place this post. I'm not used to forums srry. PPS: People are probably gonna skip this post because of the lack of Pictures. Probably.
  3. The thing is I can't get them to see each other in the network. Laptop in WIFI Desktop in ETHERNET So basically I'm looking for WIFI-ETHERNET Lan (Not Ethernet to Ethernet) (I know how to do wired networking BTW, also my teacher said that the computers are in the same network if they can ping each other.) gpon onu an5506-04 (its unknown, even for me. it came bundled with the fibr plan so generic i guess?) I gotta read up on this thanks. Thanks for the replies
  4. I was wondering if its possible to create a LAN with the laptop on Wi-Fi and the desktop on Ethernet? Same router. I can't get them to ping each other (Request Timed Out). Is it firewall? Or what?
  5. I'm actually leaning into this more. Thanks for the feedback. Yeah on gaming probably, but I also do light video editing workloads generally for school projects. Anyhoo thanks for all the replies
  6. were both kind of in the same boat man. personally just waiting for january to come then our questions shall be solved with new, more affordable motherboards (especially on intel's side)
  7. So, here's the thing. I built this PC last year. Its outfitted with an i3 6100, alongside a GTX 1060 6GB Mini. I'm happy with the 1060, but I'm not happy about the CPU. I know, some would argue that I should have went for an i5, but there were no stocks and the only other option was the overpriced i7, so I went for the i3. I want to upgrade my CPU, but I'm torn between sticking with my motherboard (I have a MSI B150 Bazooka motherboard that supports kabylake) and just change the CPU (maybe like an i7 7700? I'm skeptical about the VRM in the motherboard, need opinions about that) or change the motherboard and get new features (M.2 and faster DDR4, I'm currently limited to 2133mhz). For Intel's side, the i5 8400 looks clean, 6c 6t although no overclocking, but unfortunately no motherboard to go with it (atleast a worth motherboard). I'm still waiting for Intel to release the B360 chipsets then I'm settled. As for AMD, I'm liking the look of the R5 1600, 6c 12t WITH OVERCLOCKING, and a paired B350 motherboard. The problem is, I'm also waiting for another motherboard to be released, the Asus B350-I. I know this is subjective but I want to go for an ITX build. My reasoning behind this is that I don't need multi-GPU or more PCI slots in that matter, nor do I need more sata ports (I want M.2) or even RAM slots, plus the form factor looks cute. Thanks.
