  1. Depending on the direction they go, it may be the time to purchase a licence. I highly doubt they would fuck over existing customers, especially seeing how their entire business is based off of the "buy once, lifetime updates" strategy. I imagine current customers are going to be grandfathered in, else they are going to have a fairly large lawsuit on their hands.
  2. stolen from this post on /r/selfhosted. sharing to spread awareness. go upvote this original post. So, it looks like Unraid is switching things up and moving towards an "annual support" model for updates. They just rolled out this new update system, and in their latest blog post, they mentioned: Their code tells a different story, though: if (cee.value) { const eee = "Your {0} license included one year of free updates at the time of purchase. You are now eligible to extend your license and access the latest OS updates.", tee = "You are still eligible to access OS updates that were published on or before {1}."; or text: tee.t("Extend License"), title: tee.t( "Pay your annual fee to continue receiving OS updates." ), }), Some translation pieces too: Starter: "Starter", Unleashed: "Unleashed", Lifetime: "Lifetime", "Pay your annual fee to continue receiving OS updates.": "Pay your annual fee to continue receiving OS updates.", "Your license key's OS update eligibility has expired. Please renew your license key to enable updates released after your expiration date.": "Get a Lifetime Key": "Get a Lifetime Key", "Key ineligible for future releases": "Key ineligible for future releases", (Source for all of these: /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/dynamix.my.servers/unraid-components/_nuxt/unraid-components.client-92728868.js)
  3. My Samsung Focus S may it rest in peace. Unironically the best UI of any phone I've owned.
  4. I've tried pretty much every smart TV platform out there from Fire to Roku to Nvidia Shield Pro. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that nothing comes close to the quality and consistency of the Apple TV. It's absolutely worth the money in my opinion.

Is your memory okay? @Needfuldoer has for sure been a mod for a really long time now 🤔🤔🤔

  6. This is what I'm referring to as well. The act of spelling water on a computer that's disconnected from power will do very little harm. The minerals contained in the water left behind after evaporation are what causes damage to the component.
  7. Assuming that you are able to disconnect the power supply quickly enough, the issue with getting electronics wet is often not the moisture itself, but rather the minerals and deposits that are left behind after the liquid evaporates. This will cause corrosion to the electronic components over time and is the true killer. I would argue that it's much more important to wash electronics with something like isopropyl alcohol to remove any foreign debris than to remove the actual liquid.
  8. To be fair, most decent registrars offer some type of Dynamic DNS services. Quite easy to set-up on my namecheap domains.
  9. I... what? This has to be a mistake. $7 trillion is more money than the entire US Federal operating budget. It's a quarter of the US GDP. The concept doesn't make sense sense. Like, $7 trillion on a future evaluation I can maybe see, but what could possibly be the scope of a project could that costs $7 trillion?
  10. ? maybe I'm the weird one, maybe it's personal preference, but I think the photo looks fine for a low-lit indoor shot. It certainly doesn't look "blurry" as you suggest. Again, it looks Neon Green to my eyes.
  11. What's the motherboard and what BIOS version are you running?

    Windows S mode

Windows S is Windows Home, but locked down so only applications from the Windows Store can be installed. You cannot run .exe, .msi, etc.. It is a version of Windows good for children or tech illiterate. Windows S can be freely changed from S -> Home with no additional change. There is no hardware or software lock. That said, obviously do not change someone else's computer from S -> Home. As far as I am aware, the change can not be undone.
  13. Thank you Microsoft Copilot. You made missing my Grandma a bit more bearable.

Holy S***t this worked for windows 11.  I wonder if the keys would work.   If so email mr Paul Iracy at Microsoft.  First initial last name @microsoft.com

      ACTUALLY DON'T because

      Spoiler

Turns out there really has been someone named Paul Iracy who once worked at Microsoft.  That was a joke/meme from the days of Usenet newsgroups.  Piracy@microsoft.com

  14. Move the whole partition... to where? I'm not understanding the question or what you're trying to do.
  15. What CPU do you have? There's a difference between 13900 (which you indicated above), 13900K, and 13900KF. The KF variant does not include a iGPU.
  16. You are going to need to provide some additional information. What type of PC is it? CPU, GPU Motherboard specs? Where are you plugging in the display? HDMI or DP?

Hot take of the day: Louis Rossmann, while nobl…

Oh, I typically don't. Every once in a while however, a video comes across my radar as his subject matter often crosses over into my interests (such as his latest fight regarding the Google legal letter). I'm quickly reminded why I don't watch him.
  18. Hot take of the day:

Louis Rossmann, while noble and justified in his fights against soulless bloodsucking corpos, is an obnoxious, insufferable prick. His pompous, holier-than-thou attitude reeks through every video he publishes.

I truly don't understand how anyone can listen more than a few minutes of him babble.

      🤝🏻

Guy is annoying asf, constantly poorbashing when it comes to tools and the workshop in general, not noble at all. And he looks like a Playstation 1 game character. But all of his thirsty fans will jump at your throat and say you're "against right to repair" if you don't like him... bruh.wma

I constantly repair things for people and don't boast about it on youtube.... maybe I should, given he has a million dollar workshop and I work in a dimly lit basement with crude tools. *furiously types www.youtube.com*

This  was so brutal it reminded me of ....

I agree he is a bit sure of himself when it comes to repair.  I mean if you think about it any very large company is going to want to sell you a new device more than it will want you to repair it.  If car companies could get way with that they would.

  19. That seems to be different than your initial question. I'm not sure where you are located, or what the secondary market is near you. Obviously the price is going to depend on condition, model, controllers, various accessories, etc.. The price sounds reasonable assuming it's a good package. It's a fantastic price if it's a PS4 Pro.
  20. "Worth it" is subjective, so it all depends on what you are trying to do with it. There are a ton of exclusives for PS4 that may make it worth it for you. The price for used games is probably the lowest it will ever be for the platform. I'm not sure I would recommend any online experiences at this point, as the platform is dated, focus more on the single player experiences.
  21. Agree with @whispous... if you must dual boot: Create new partition Install Windows to new partition. Confirm functionality Boot to Windows creation media again. Delete both old partitions and create new, full sized partition Reinstall Windows.
  22. I think given the replies to this thread, I believe this is an indication that this was a good video, or at minimum one that spawned interesting conversation. @LinusTech - I hope this is encouraging to continue to produce video like this that interest you (as you said on the WAN show this week), as they clearly interest us.
