  1. Interesting concept. I'm simply not understanding how this could affect your credit score without having... a line of credit? Are they issuing a line of credit and simply immediately paying off the balance directly after making the purchase? Very interesting. They are owned by Evolve Bank & Trust, which I am unable to find any real information on. They appear to be a smaller sized bank but are a FDIC member and regulated by the FRB so.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  2. Is this a sales pitch? How would a wrist rest be any different to any of the 1000s I could buy on Amazon right now for $15? How could I verify that a magnetic wrist wrest would even connect to my keyboard? The majority of keyboard shrouds are plastic anyway.

    Help!

Adjust what channel(s) you are broadcasting on. There may be other people and access points in the area which are broadcasting on the same channels.
  4. Interesting. Okay, looks like I am looking into a motherboard swap to do what I want to do. Thanks!
  5. My main reasoning for doing this would be to quickly hot-swap my gaming PC and work laptop with one cable
  6. Hi everyone, I am currently completely renovating the second floor of my house and am currently planning out my office space. My current plan is to create a step-up inspired by Linus and put my gaming PC in a closet on the other side of the wall and run a Thunderbolt 4 cable to a dock located on my desk. One of the main rationales for doing this would be the capability to quickly hot-swap my gaming PC and work laptop with one cable, and have all my peripherals simply work. My current computer: Ryzen 5 3600x Asus PRIME B450M-A RTX 2700s Now, this PC obviously doesn't have a Thunderbolt 4 port, but I was thinking about adding a PCIE card similar to this one from ASUS. Does anyone have any experience with these Thunderbolt 4 PCIE cards? My other concern is that the Thunderbolt 4 run is going to be around 10 feet or so. I know this is a long run for full Thunderbolt 4 capabilities. Any advice would be appreciated!
  7. I did about 5 minutes of digging about "The Dawn Project". The founder of that company, Dan O'Dowd, is also the CEO of Green Hills Software. Did some digging on Green Hills Software and they appear to offer a competing product: https://www.ghs.com/products/auto_solutions.html Cool.
  8. Display Port cables often have a tab on them to release pins. Press on the tab and pull out gently.
  9. Check out Gamer's Nexus review on the case. This will more than likely give you more information about airflow configurations than anyone would be able to give you here.
  10. Want to explain what isn't working? Are you able to see the card in device manager? In networking?
  11. Yes, most modern websites are reactive depending on the size of the window you are viewing them in. A large portion of webpage traffic occurs on mobile devices with various aspect ratios and webpages need to be designed to display appropriately and intuitively in all of them while still maintaining the styling of the full scale website. Back in the day, most websites were not like this as the only browsers that were accessing them were on a computer. Back in the 90s, websites would only display in one way. If you were using a web browser that was "too small" for the site, you often had to scroll side to side to view the entire page (or worse, the webpage would display horrendously). As mobile devices began to be able to access the web, many popular websites moved traffic based on the device you were accessing from to a mobile version of the website. (m.website.com or mobile.website.com) Back in the day, these would be still be considered static webpages as they weren't reactive to the browser size, but simply moving the traffic to a different landing page depending on the device. Some websites still use this mobile nomenclature (such as the m.wikipedia.org URL you linked in your OP!). Typically these are still used to reduce the amount of data transmitted to mobile devices. Today, often these mobile landing pages are reactive as well. edit: I had to dig into my bookmarks to find an example of a static webpage, but I did end up finding one. Check out the website for my state's public library system. You will notice that no matter what size or orientation you scale your web browser to the page remains the same and only moves assets around slightly. edit edit: Oh even better! I tried to access the same webpage on my phone and I get redirected to the m.catalog.oslri.net version of the page! This is exactly what I was referring to earlier and is a relic of the early "mobile friendly" versions of websites.
  12. Dynamic (or reactive) web-pages typically change their buttons, links, and relative sizes depending on what size browser you using when viewing them. Take these images of foxnews.com for example:
  13. I really like the style of Danny Gonzalez's chair, but I can't for the life of me find what kind of chair it is. Anyone have any idea?
  14. I would be tempted to say that this is a transcoding issue, assuming there no GPU in the device and the CPU is attempting to handle the transcoding itself.
  15. You have an i9 on a spare PC? My god dude. Regardless, I'm sure you are already aware that's going to be overkill for a media server. As for an OS, I would highly recommend using Unraid. I have used it myself and found it pretty easy to configure. It uses docker containers, so you can run Plex within it and have that serve your video streaming needs.
  16. Hi everyone, I am in the process of renovating my house and setting up my new office. I am taking a page out of Linus's book and planning on putting my PC in a utility closet in a small rack that will service the second floor of my house. I am looking to run peripherals over Thunderbolt 4 over a fairly short distance. (6-10') My rational for doing this is two fold. 1) I can move the PC physically off my desk and into a sound enclosed environment and 2) I can quickly swap out the thunderbolt from my main gaming rig to my work laptop without having to move any cables or peripherals. I am looking for rack mounted case suggestions. Thickness isn't a particular concern, as I will have more than enough room in the rack I am putting in the closet. Looking for something that fits traditional ATX configurations and ability to mount standard PSUs. Thanks!
  17. Hi everyone, So as a disclaimer: I only have a rudimentary understanding of how blockchain technology works, so what I am pondering may be completely impossible depending on the logistics of the technology. Question: Why aren't game developers and sellers (ie. Steam) looking towards the blockchain as proof of ownership of videogames as a form of DRM. This would allow users to purchase and verify ownership of a video game licence against the blockchain, rather than a centrally hosted credential based server by the developer. It could allow for game re-selling with the advantage of giving a cut to the developers on the resell (a la NFTs). I haven't heard any chatter about this yet, so I am assuming I am missing something when it comes to this topic.
  18. So is no one going to ask about the glove? Okay I will.. What's with the glove?
  19. The moment you upgrade your CPU and motherboard your windows key will become invalid and you will need to purchase a new one, regardless.
  20. You added additional components and left out the Windows licence, thus going over budget. I don't see a reason to upgrade the PSU until we also upgrade the GPU; at which point they can choose a power supply that matches their needs.
  21. All in all, I think it looks pretty good. I would go with the 16gb of RAM you have listed. You would probably be fine with 8GB, but I would still recommend going with the 16GB. It will be cheaper in the long run. Your power supply you have listed will be fine until the point that you need to upgrade your GPU. I would recommend upgrading both when you do.
