  1. @Analog Thank you for your answer. My PBO was in "auto" so I will just leave it like that (maybe I will let it "enabled" after I have hyper 212 cooler). I have enabled global C-states or something from auto I guess, I will probably revert it back as well and run the Cinabench to compare just in case. [Updated] Well, it seems like global C-state is just in "auto". I guess it reverted back while I was testing other settings...
  2. Hi guys, I am trying to tweak my ASRock B550 Phantom Gaming 4 MB to get the most out of Ryzen 3600. I heard that overclocking is not particularly worth it, and I found here and here that the following options in the BIOS can help improve the performance of Ryzen 3600: Set Cool-n-Quiet to Enabled Set Core CPPC to Enabled Set CPPC Preferred Cores to Enabled Set Advanced C-States to Enabled Set Global C-State Enabled In my MB I could only find global C-state, which I have enabled, but I could not find the other settings. I have found "echo mode" and I am not sure if it is equivalent of "Cool-n-Quite". I am using the stock cooler, so I am not planning to set PBO to "enabled" (opposite of "echo mode"). Is this all that I can do? Are the rest settings specific to B450 board? My MB has the latest BIOS and the chipset. Any recommendation or advice is welcomed. I am attaching the pictures just in case: Thank you for your help! [Update] Also, is Ryzen balanced plan still preferred over Windows balanced plan?
  3. Thank you. I will let my case fans set to the CPU temp. I have already set my threshhold to 65C since the stock cooler of Ryzen 3600 is rather noisy and with the XMP RAM setting it bumps up to rather high temp temporarily. Also, thank you everyone for the discussion!
  4. My CPU fan is following the CPU temp but my case fans should be following MB temp (at least I have set it like that in the BIOS). Hm, then maybe I should just let my case fans follow the CPU temp as well? That is even more confusing lol So my plan was to let case fans follow the MB temp, which I think I have done with my previous build in my signature. But one thing for sure; the case fans are not speeding up even when the motherboard is heating up even though I have set them to follow the MB temp in the BIOS. I guess downgrading the BIOS is going overboard? Maybe just letting them follow the CPU temp is good for now? [Edited] Perhaps this is a problem with the recent BIOS version?
  5. Hi guys. I am using ASRock Phantom Gaming 4, and it is always showing 33C Southbridge temperature no matter what I am doing as shown in the picture. The problem is that the case fans would not work according to the motherboard temperature since they are fixed to the Southbridge temp, and the temp would not even budge even when I am running various stress tests. The motherboard is updated with the latest BIOS and chipset. Is it a malfunctioning product? When I am running Cinabench, I can see that the mainboard and the CPU temp is rising, but the southbridge temp is stuck at 33C, and the fans would not increase their speeds. Thank you for your help. It is such an annoying problem...
  6. Hello, my new build has motherboard ASRock B550 Phantom Gaming 4 with the latest bios and chipset. But in the bios, I could not find CPPC or other related settings. Are the settings only accessible on b570 motherboard? If that is the case, I am not sure what else I could tweak to improve my Ryzen 3600. Thank you for your help!
  7. [Update] It seems like I have to update the bios from the mb manufacturer (ASRock) and upgrade the mb chipset from AMD, am I correct?
  8. Hi, I just built a new PC with Ryzen 3600 + ASRock Phantom Gaming 4. I realized that I do not have the Ryzen balanced power setting, so I updated to 1.7 whose update date was listed as "2020/12/10" in ASRock site. However, on the AMD site I have found that there is a 2.10. version. Can I use the 2.10. version as well? I just thought that I should follow the ASRock's driver, but it seems like it is perfectly okay to use the AMD driver instead. Thank you for your help.
  9. I'm not sure what you are talking about. Many 75Hz monitors are freesync one. See this. Also, the AMD page says HDMI works and I already own a machine that worked with hdmi and freesync. About adapter though, I am not sure, which is why I am torn.
  10. Thanks for reminding me of it. Both are 75Hz with Freesync. My experience is that HDMI can work with Freesync to get 75Hz, am I correct?
  11. Hello, I have purchased RX5500xt and 2 1080p monitors , but unfortunately the monitors do not have displayport input. Do I need to buy a displayport to hdmi converter something like this? Will there be any loss in the quality of the display in this case? Thank you so much for your help.
  12. Really? My understanding was that the tier might differ with different wattage. BTW RX550x costs more than $100 and I think that is way too expensive for RX5500xt build. I'm not sure whether I really should be checking each item at this point since it takes too much time. Is dual channel really that much better than 1 slot? I guess I can pay about $10 more to get dual channel though.
  13. @Prodigy_Smit Thank you for your reply. The thing is, I am going to dual-boot Linux so if possible I want to get a Radeon GPU. Does GT1030 perform better than RX550? My impression is that they are pretty similar. @Edmond Dantes Yeah I'm keep thinking about this but I have even seen that RX550 can cause trouble for just using two monitors... that's pretty bad you know.
  14. @FurtasticLoser Thank you so much for your reply. I am actually building a new one since I have arrived in the U.S. from another country. I am really not sure whether I should purchase RX550 and wait for the GPU shortage to alleviate or just go for RX5500xt for now.... sigh..
  15. Hello, everyone. Basically, I want to find a good power supply for my RX 5500 xt build, but I am not sure how to find a good-priced power supply for it. I looked into the tier list, but many of the items with tier B and above have way too much watt supply, and even in tier C I just had to manually search for each item on Amazon to see whether the item even exists at the moment, so I really would appreciate it if you could pinpoint several options that I could choose at the moment preferably with tier C and above. Here is my tentative setup for RX 5500xt: CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor ($194.99 @ Newegg) Motherboard: ASRock B550 Phantom Gaming 4 ATX AM4 Motherboard ($114.90 @ Amazon) Memory: OLOy 16 GB (1 x 16 GB) DDR4-3000 CL16 Memory ($54.99 @ Newegg) Video Card: RX 5500xt (previously I was thinking of getting RX550 for now) Case: Lian Li LANCOOL 215 ATX Mid Tower Case Monitor: LG 24MK430H-B 23.8" 1920x1080 75 Hz Monitor ($89.99 @ Adorama) Monitor: LG 24MK430H-B 23.8" 1920x1080 75 Hz Monitor ($89.99 @ Adorama) Thank you for your help!
