Sounds like a problem my machine had a few years ago; it's possible that the thermal paste has melted and re-solidified which renders it less effective (sometimes even useless as it was in my case). Depending on how old the laptop is might pay to get a new one
 
If it's quite recent then re-applying decent thermal paste could do the trick

Why you trying to install windows 7 anyway? Windows 10 is superior anyway. Also i read somewhere that specific products are now not compatible with Win 7 and older; hve you checked that the CPU is compatible with Win 7?

I think Maplins here in the UK will fall soon as everything continues to move online.

I only have experience with university accommodation where i shared with friends; it can be tricky at first as you all have to be flexible to other peoples schedules. Just cos you might be ok staying up playing music till 2am doesn't mean your housemates will be fine with it
 
Moving to London is VERY EXPENSIVE! my colleague pays £1700 pcm ($2340.44 if your american) for a 2 bed flat near the centre of London so renting a room will be a bit cheaper but not that much, you're best best if you want city life is to look at the outlying villages/town of some the cities and you'll get better more for your money plus you can still get into the city easy

Generally rooms here in the UK are just the closing doors with no locks but the main door into the building has a lock; unless it's a hotel of course

I have had that as well,when they have done it both through a hardwarebutton and also the software button in windows.
