  1. Right now i have a 1080p TV as my monitor and due to lack of space it is not feasible for me to have a separate TV and monitor where i have my PC (1 bedroom apartment and my bedroom isn't large enough to fit a computer desk in there with everything else

Seeing as how 4K is becoming more prevalent 1080p might soon go the way of 720p and become extremely hard to get tech for

Right now i know my rig can't handle 4k gaming

1050ti, i7 3770S is not gonna be able to play anything at 4K really

The most graphically intense games i own is Crysis 2 and Skyrim SE (With Mods)

What kind of gear do i need to be looking at to be able to build a rig that can happily do 4k on those games, looking at the bare minimum specs to COMFORTABLY game at 4k i know that the latest i7 and RTX cards could do it but that's a bit beyond my price range

  2. This might require someone who knows more about servers etc.

But i've always struggled to get my head round how a game can be rendered/run on a server and then beamed to a 'dummy' device requiring next to no real specs on the remote device. Can someone basically dumb this down for me cos my brain is thinking surely the remote device still needs to draw the polygons etc which requires a discrete GPU if we are referring to modern games

  3. I just got my Honor View 20 yesterday, one thing i noticed is that by default its setup to not wake the screen when i receive a text. But when i go to change it it looks like it changes it for all notifications rather than just text messages. Is there a way to only wake the screen upon receiving a text and if i get any other kind of notification (whatsapp message etc.) it the lock screens stays off?

    Hello there..

I was thinking about taking a guitar course in the future but the lesson is only 30 minutes long per lesson?

I ask my older brother to teach me and even after 2 hour i am still struggling let alone 30 minutes and he have teach me for 2 week...and now i can play a little.

The place is about 10KM away from my home and it will cost me around $150/month ( 4 courses 30 minutes each per month) actually around $300 because i have to take a taxi.

For those who have experience it, What do you think?

Having played guitar on and off for close to 10 years (taken more seriously past 4 years) i'll offer my input on it. 30 minute sessions are not long enough in my opinion. Unless you are extremely young and can't concentrate for an hour; 30 minutes isn't enough to get into the stuff you really need to go into. Barre chords for example (the unofficial test of every beginner guitarist imo) will be tricky and 30 minutes isn't enough time to work out kinks

Your best best would be to find a private teacher (not a course) that will teach you. Make sure you find a teacher that will help you achieve your goals. For example you don't want a person to teach you Jazz if you wanna play rock/metal. Have a long term goal in mind; if you want to sound like Meshuaggh. That's great but learning Jazz won't help you to much there (for example)

Courses aren't really a good option unless you're going for degree's etc. Best way is individual lessons. try for a month or so if you like the teacher maybe then ask if you can book a block of lessons in one go for easy payment

You didn't mention your age or whether you're playing electric/acoustic and what genre's you like though so

Funny enough, both. I collect CDs and I don't mind buying digital, so long as the shit I can find is in FLAC.

On the topic of vinyl, I really don't see a point as to why it's being revived. Very few people who are buying vinyl nowadays who aren't audiophiles who swear by a piece of round PVC are buying turntables worth a damn to play the records.

I'm a slight audiophille but more like a realistic one i've listened to FLACS and i can't tell the difference between a high quality MP3 and a Flac on my home cinema system, but i don't have the income to buy like £2000 speakers

  6. It's a discussion i always like to get into to see the different arguments people have

I find myself personally getting CDs. I love to have the physical media; i of course rip the tracks as soon as i get them, but i hold the mentality of should something go wrong with my computer phone etc. I've still got the music i love to listen to as i have the CDs so i can put them in my Car or back onto my computer (I'm also one of the only people i know that is annoyed that machines have gone the "No CD drive route")

Also i don't know why but there is something satisfying and having actual CD albums when everyone else seems to be going for the "Download from Amazon" route

I don't go vinyl as i personally don't like the resurgence of Vinyl. It's only happening thanks to 'hipsters' i personally think and you can see that with the music being released on Vinyl

  7. A little bit of background in this

A few years ago my brother passed away and i'm wanting to honour his memory by making a video combining me improvising a solo (im a guitar player) and then fading into what his favourite track was. Now the track i know is owned by Sony music and to make sure that this video wouldn't get copyright claimed or a content ID strike i am willing to pay to be able to use the song in a video. Is there a way this can be done? (like how you can purchase a PRS license to play music at venues for events)

I have no clue about the mileage, the seller hasn't done a close up of the gauges or even said anything relating to mileage.

It hasn't been taxed since 1999 and has not had a safety inspection/MOT in it's life. My guess is that it's just been sat in a field for nearly 20 years doing nothing.

Then i'd HIGHLY advise asking to look round it first before you start talking price. Now if you know cars thats great; but if not bring someone along who does know it, maybe you have a friend who's a mechanic?

And for that £1000 is the absolute MAX i'd go

    Hi all,

Thinking of buying a cheap and cheerful old Mercedes as a project car soon.

    I've found a 1977 280 that's definitely seen better days.

Current price is £1095 but I feel like that's too much considering how much rust and crap is on the car.

Here's a photo from the listing:

I'm thinking of talking the guy down to about £600-700

    What would you pay?

    Thanks :)

(i know LTT forums are more tech-oriented but I've had no luck with any motoring forums so I'm turning to off topic for some help)

(if any mods see this, please don't lock this thread. I know this would've been better as a status update but hardly anyone ever responds to a status update so it's pointless for me to post one)

The guy wants a grand for that??

Even though i don't know cars that's being optimistic, i'd say not even £500 due to the rust and the damage on the car; also what's it's mileage?

An i7 3770 should still be adequate for a GTX 1050 Ti in every sense, make sure what's slowing you down isn't an unhealthy OS, Bloatware and such.

It's more things with the mobo that are starting to go wrong like USB ports suddenly deciding they don't want to recognise what's plugged into them (which is solved by simply restarting) and to buy a replacement Mobo for a 3rd gen intel processor will be quite hard to find at least in the UK where the second hand market isn't very strong generally

Too be honest sure you can get away with it for awhile longer. But you're probably already having sacrifice little things like AA(depending on the type) or render distance in skyrim or even lighting and shadows. So I'd probably upgrade when you get the chance but you don't have to race to it. Fortunately the consoles help make sure games don't get more graphically intense each year as to keep them running smoothly...

Yeah i'm not looking at upgrading right now. I can handle the little gemlins that come my way

I just want to show you something then (these are in games the same performence, keep that in mind)

    you see what I mean?

That is quite a price difference, obviously account for conversion rates to (I'm UK)

well, that's true, but if you work you're probebly familiar with the 14nm shortage at intel too... prices aren't going well for them, and that makes ryzen a way better value

That's a good point. Thinking about it this is gonna be fairly expensive as the parts i need to replace are the some of the most expensive ones really

Mobo, RAM, PSU, CPU and Cooler

most of the time you can just get away with getting a new CPU as it is the most important component when it comes to gaming (usually).

you might aswell just get an r5 2600, though i will recommend waiting untill after CES. we are expecting announcement/teaser during the event from both AMD and Nvidia.

I don't mind waiting, i do IT as a job so any of the gremlins that arise i can solve. I was informed that Ryzen is kinda not needed if you're not going to be taking advantage of the benefits of Ryzen. Plus i don't plan on overclocking as none of the games i run right now struggle in terms of FPS

  15. Currently i have a 3rd gen i7; was top of the line when i got it. However my machine is starting to have little gremlins which is making me consider (finally) upgrading my machine to something more modern, I'd reuse a lot of stuff from my previous build (mainly SSDs, HDDs and GPU) therefore will be building my own machine

That being said part of me wants to get an i7 beacuse that's what i had before but when i look at the price. It's really high which got me thinking, is a i7 actually NEEDED for gaming anymore. If i'm not gaming i'm onyl watching netflix etc. i don't do VFX work anymore so i  know i don't need Ryzen

    Games i will be playing

    - SMITE

    - Warframe

    - Skyrim SE

    - Dishoured

    - Old RTS games which obviously could run on a phone at this point

I'm fairly sure none of these are CPU intensive like GTA is known to be

Including digital and physical. Gog, humble and steam. You have to pay tho, free to grab not included.

I bought no man's sky back in September. After two years of aging it's now a decent game. However its performance issue always bothers me. Can't turn vsync on or fps plummets, have to live with that epic screen tearing. Very bad texture filtering, straight line all shimmering nonstop. And that UI, bad on controller, bad on mouse,.. Piloting a spacecraft is no-go on keyboard and mouse. Have to use controller with this game.

It's a good game now i won't deny it, but i can't play it more that an hour on one go, its awfulness in ui, and performance issue are always stopping me from enjoying its awesome content.

Feels like some dev really know nothing about pc gaming. Same awful ui also in destiny2 too. Never played 1 so no comment. I strongly discourage anyone buying this game even tho base game is free. It's my second to latest buy and it's my biggest regret, second one is Mad effect Andromeda.

If today goes as planned, Dishonoured, Age of Mythology and Age of Empires II

    Thank god for Steam sales

I’m not purposely gonna spend over want I have lol but I want to know what happens ?

say if I had 5k in a bank and I spend 4999 on one order then 50 On another online wat would happen ?

would I goto - money or just the order wouldn’t go through? Or would it take as much as it can to 0 then don’t go past that

If it's a credit card it will simply decline the payment, if you overspend on your regular account (IE with a debit card) if you have an overdraft you will go into that
