GoldenLag got a reaction from Haro in Single CPU 8-pin (EPS) for a 5800x in a Gigabyte x570 Master
you are likely reading total system power consumption. In scenarios outside of LN2 overclocking, it is not gonna draw anywhere near that.

Also a single 8-pin EPS would be fine with that powerdraw.

while its a good PSU, id encourage getting a new good unit instead. idk how much he is asking for that unit.

2 cheaper and better PSUs to consider.

    edit:
Something like the Fuma 2 linked above would be go to.

if you mean the Hyper 212 from Coolermaster, then its strictly mediocre-average in the market it covers.

This is the best out of the three.

    any other PSUs available?

out of these three. the Prime TX-1000 is just not as good as the other two options. It is also not digital, nor does it have any monitoring functionality.

The DPP 12 would afaik be the best option out of the three, being a very nice Digital PSU.

Depending on how much cheaper the HX1200i is, i would also consider that one. Afaik not as good as the DPP 12, but you do get monitoring functionality.

there may have been some reports that 1000w Prime units may have tripped, hence its relevant. Also, singlerail for 1000w is dumb.
Question: why roll dice? you can just get the known best unit. In this case, not the Prime. and untill Seasonic starts doing digital units with Multirail (they are relativly small, so its gonna be a while unless they outsource it) they rarely will be the best option (ignoring price). (tho offcourse pricing does matter, some Focus units (rebrands or otherwise) are priced very nicely in some regions).

GoldenLag got a reaction from SorryBella in threadripper vs epyc, for unraid homeserver
SP3 uses the same mounting as TR4. wouldnt realistically be an issue. if you are using large amounts of Registered high capacity dimms, you should have a fan pointed at the memmory.

a fan pointed at the VRM is also likely a good idea.
if you pick up something like the EPYC 7443P (or a 16 core offering). the difference would be smaller, but each instance will likely be worse.

to utilize the ammount of PCIe the Epyc plattform offers. might want to prep for using extensions and U.2 to PCIe adapters.

also depending on what is actually available at the time you are buying. id suggest looking at Intel Ice Lake Xeon. some of their low end products are fairly nice offerings, tho only 64 lanes of PCIe.

Do it properly next time, propper cooler, and propper PSU.

Its probably "fine". Just dont go booting without a cooler next time.

Some  cost reductions and improvements at the cost if essentially nothing.

Id change the powersupply  but you allready bought that. Id also consider looking at the 11400 or 10600k instead.

Thats not a reason  for something being better in the long run....

If the chipset offers something of value, sure.

And for OPs usecase, excessive high Bandwidth PCIe device does not appear to be a thing.

You get some quicksync improvements with the 11700k. How much impact those have in comparison to the 10850k, idk. Not seen a deepdive by GN or someone similar yet.

There really isnt much appeal to the 11700k when the 10850k has quicksync. (Unless there are some major improvements i havent seen)

Unsure if they updated anything notable between V1 and V2. Hxi has some neat monitoring functionality.
DPP12 (higher wattage variant) is in the very top of PSUs you can get your hands on. So yes.

To get better, you need to start looking at the AXi (not AX, AX is worse than HX), or a few harder to get units.

Ok awesome. 🙂 will be ordering the be quiet dark power pro 12 1200W then 🙂 should be plenty to handle the system and a top of the line PSU so i will definitely go with that one.  😄  Also checked cablemod and they support custom PSU cables for this PSU so i will be able to get a really smooth and clean looking system 🙂
Thank you again so much for the very helpful tips. I really appreciate the awesome help this forum has to give with nice and helpful people like you! 🙂
