  1. Hey guys! So I got my hand on an oldish iPad for free, and wondering if anyone here has any recommendations for apps to run in it as a sort of 'dock'. My first thought was a monitor, but apparently legit the only good app is nearly 25 bucks! So yeah any other recommendations? I was also considering options such as macros, or network monitoring, etc but couldn't really see much. Any ideas are greatly appreciated! Thanks guys! Tom Bombadil
  2. Thanks for all the replies, guys, I am certainly checking these all out!
  3. Well that sounds freaking awesome and I'll be looking into that shortly!
  4. Hey guys! I know its an odd question, and while not something I am particularly considering, it is nice to think of. So my question is would it be possible to say get a server, DVR, set top box, etc and put the video output (such as a HDMI or VGA port) into a device or other computer / server and then distribute it or multiple other video sources across the internal network via wired Ethernet? So theoretically, one would have a shelf or even rack of little devices or set top boxes, all connected to a small server which would then provide a network connection to the LAN. A user would then be able to connect a monitor or TV or whatever and be able to utilize that signal from a selection or other and watch the feed directly. I do realize that is a particular part that would be difficult, being able to utilize an Ethernet port as a monitor feed, however I am curious if it would be possible as a thought experiment. And particularly as providing it is a gigabit connection, next to no quality loss if any, as far as I understand. Regardless, I know while not entirely practical, I do wonder if it would be viable and if it would be a neat system to realistically run. Thanks for all the replies! Tom Bombadil

  7. Also, don't forget you can filter google images via image size, so I could filter only 40MP and above for my triple portrait monitor setup.

  9. To be honest, it seems like alot of that is a bit of a stretch, while he sure isnt a pure being of perfect, The WAN show is not exactly a suitable place for an interview, not to mention the fact that while Linus has no obligation to release any information on internal company activity, it is also just bad practice, such as with media release. He has often said of how they have revealed a new employee too early, just to find them leave a few days later or to have issues arrive where they don't get hired at all. It wouldn't make much sense to publicize it, regardless of if they were or not.
  10. There are alot of older, very cheap rack servers you can find on ebay for around 100-200 if that tickles your pickle.
  11. Hey guys! So issue, I have Plex Media Server running as a plugin inside FreeNAS, and while it plays everything else fine, MKVs seem to not work, regardless of file, location, etc. From research, it seems that the reason is that the temp storage space where it trans codes needs the equivalent space + 100MB. Where the issue is, is that from what I can tell, I have hundreds of GBs of space left, and no idea how to expand that particular file. Any help? Thanks Guys! Tom Bombadil!
