The caps I plan to just desolder and measure. I don't know how to do that properly in circuit. to get it into the circuit (there were 2 I could check) you would find what point on the board its connected to and place the probes there. for instance for r206 it's connected to the open solder pad right to the left of it, so you can measure it there and on the right side of it, it hits the lower solder pad. Not all are going to be able to measured like that as the board is layered making it exponentially harder to find whats connected to what. To clarify this is not my specialty, and my knowledge isn't the greatest. the guy who brought it to me brought it as a last ditch effort as no one else would touch it, and its unusable anyway. (I'm also doing this pro bono). Most of my work similar to this is classic console modding/repair with schematics or really well done instructions.

I watched this, the problem is they're 0402 and 0603 parts, so no marking on the resistors or caps, only way to get the information is to find someone with the card who knows how to use a multimeter to get the exact specifications of those parts. I appreciate you sending the video though. Thats also the Gigabyte 5700xt, not the aorus.

Hey guys, I’m repairing a broken Aorus 5700xt that a customer dropped off. It has several resistors and capacitors knocked off and I need to find someone who can measure them with a multimeter and tell me what they are (resistance, and capacitance). Apparently he sent it in to Gigabyte and they sent it back without any option for a repair, even if he paid. Here are the part locations: c525, c531, c698, r5016, r5022 Pic of board: https://imgur.com/a/S8HTZRZ Any help would be appreciated.

Which Motherboard for Ryzen 1600 ?
Digital_Zero replied to furtz83's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I really like Asus' AMD motherboards, and they have good compatibility with the corsair vengeance line for ram OC. That would be my recommendation. -
Thanks for this information. I just found that out myself. Also there is no proof of concept on any of these vulnerabilities. I work in the industry myself, so I'm sad to say I hopped on the believe the media train as I had seen the information from normally reputable sources. It'll be interesting to see what comes of this. I have a ryzen 1800x myself and I love it, I hope Red Team keeps kicking ass and the 2k line puts them out infront in the CPU market.

The vulnerabilities exist, though are not nearly as big of a deal as they have made them out to be, it's not fake news, it's poorly reported news. But I hope Intel gets a smooth kick in the ass for their part in this "vulnerability assessment". It's bullshit.

It is a repost, but I wasn't aware at the time of posting this. It's not fake news, but it is a HUGE smear campaign. but I'll be happy to remove it nonetheless.

This is absolutely a huge smear campaign. Doesn't mean the vulns don't exist, but the extreme lack of notice screams some competitor is nervous and most likely helped push these guys to release early. As someone who does this for a living, it is ABSOLUTELY unprofessional to do what these guys have done. It would get your average analyst blacklisted hard.

https://thehackernews.com/2018/03/amd-processor-vulnerabilities.html Luckily it appears none of these are unpatchable, but defeating SEV is scary at the very least. Edit: Take this information with a HUGE grain of salt, there has been NO proof on concept, The people who discovered the "vulnerabilities" have no clout and are unknown, and the group funding these guys are known for stock manipulation. Until it can be proven or dis-proven though I believe it's helpful for the information to be there. Sounds like someone really wants that AMD stock to drop. but that is my opinion and not based in any proof.
