  1. Yeah, I guess I just had to hear someone else say it to confirm my suspicion. Thanks! I just ordered a 280mm H115i, and I'll eat the cost of the h60, can probably use it on something else down the road, budget build or something.
  2. So I just got done putting together a system for a buddy and used a Corsair H60 to cool a 5900x. After some benchmarking temps never reached over 84 degrees under full cpu load (prime95 and browsing around with chrome for about 30min, then running unigene heaven). Curious though if I screwed up here and should probably go with a larger aio? Thoughts?
  3. That indeed resolved the issue. Simplest things first. I don't why I always tend to think of the worst possible scenario and troubleshoot that first, you'd think I'd have learned better after all these years. Thanks again!
  4. lmao! You know...we didn't even think to try that. We'll give it a go this evening and see what happens. Thank you for pointing this out!
  5. Hello all! So I'm assisting a buddy in trying to figure out why his wired internet speeds are substantially lower (unusable) compared to his wifi connection. The first thing we tried was replacing the ethernet cable as I've ran into this in the past, but no dice there. I'm wondering if it could possibly be a setting in his modem/router? But this I've never encountered before. So for a frame of reference his internet plan is supposed to be 7.5mbps from what I can tell based off of the provided information. Through wifi he's able to achieve roughly 6.5mbps. When switching to a cat5e cable plugged directly into the modem/router he's only able to achieve 0.75mbps, exactly 10% the advertised speed. Could there be any configuration settings inside of the modem/router that would be causing the wired connection to behave this way compared to the wifi signal? Edit* Probably worth mentioning that device manager does not show any of the network adapters to be having issues, all lan drivers are showing functional and up to date (no little yellow exclamation icons)
  6. Think I fixed this. I just disabled "auto" and upped the fan speed in nitrosense. I was thinking if you disabled auto then your fans wouldn't ramp up when needed, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Apparently I was just confused.
  7. I recently picked up an acer nitro 5 and have noticed at low utilization the cpu fan emits a pulsing sound as if it's constantly ramping up and then back down ever so slightly. Within the pre-packaged "Nitrosense" monitoring application if I disable "auto" the pulsing goes away, and comes back as soon as I re-enable it. Does the fan curve need to be adjusted somehow? There's no option to do so from within this software that I can tell, and I doubt I'd want to leave auto off as the fans need to dynamically adjust speed for various load. Any suggestions?
  8. So yeah, discord worked flawlessly. I just had to (when selecting the screen option) choose the specific application, which in this case was the capture window of the capture software. Both desktop and mic audio went through without any issue. Oh how far we've come
  9. 0_0...is that a thing! Checking it out. Edit* Looked into it, this might work. It seems some people mention that when streaming their desktop they can't stream the audio from it and that you have to select the specific app you want to stream. Guessing that feature may or may not work with the capture software, but it's worth a try. I'll give it a shot once my rca cables show up and report back. Thank you for suggesting this!
  10. First off let me explain what I'm attempting to accomplish. I've recently located some old vhs tapes a buddy and I had made waaayyyyy back in the day. We thought it would be a good time to go back through some of them and see what was on them. I jumped on ebay and sourced a vcr, capture device (rca to usb type deal) and software to record the playback off the vcr. Now I can either go through them myself, record what I feel is relevant and then send the files off to him, OR what sounds like a better time would be to jump on discord and watch them together, but to do so I would need a way to stream my desktop along with audio to his computer over the internet (or at least that's what would make sense to me seeing how the capture device plays back the footage on your desktop as you're recording it). Is there a relatively simple way to do this?
  11. Oh wow! Looks like it was forked from an older release of synergy. Source is on github. I'll give this a go instead. Thank you for mentioning this.
  12. Is anyone here using Synergy? I'm considering setting this up on my new rig, but was worried about it affecting my mouse latency. I'm no pro, but I do enjoy me some CS:GO and wouldn't want this to some how mess with my mouse in game. Although as I'm typing this I'm realizing that that's probably not an issue since most games are going to grab raw mouse data, and even if they didn't, from what I understand synergy is a client server based application, so if my main rig is setup as client it's inputs shouldn't be affected, only latency would be detected on the server machine (which wouldn't matter to me). So...Did I just answer my own question? Or has someone encountered latency issues with synergy on their client machine (main system)?
  13. Update. So the rtx 3070 DOES NOT support more than 4 monitors even with an MST hub. Windows recognizes all monitors connected, but disables all but 4. Going into nvidia driver manager, monitors also show up but you can only select 4 and a message comes up stating that the gpu only supports 4 monitors. Oh well...I had to give it a go. Now I just have a spare MST hub if needed down the road for something.
  14. Just purchased the mst hub linked above. Probably should have followed my gut and gone that route from the get go. One of the reviews was someone with a 3090 that confirmed it worked flawlessly for them. We'll see how it goes.
  15. Oh it does, and they're full up. The three display ports are connected to an ultragear 27gl83a and two acer sb230s. Then the hdmi port is connected to a 4k tv. I NEED the extra ports for the two other monitors. My original plan was to use an MST hub since these three ports are each dp1.4. You'd think something like this would work to split the signal from one port so I could get two 1080p outputs at 60hz, but I was informed it would not: https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-Port-DisplayPort-MST-Hub/dp/B0839LTNFK
  16. You're probably right on all accounts. The gt710 was suggested to me via another user on the board as a cheap card that would work with the 3070 to increase my video outputs. With that said, I'm totally down to try another more up to date card if anyone has any suggestions. Something that could possibly work better with this 3070 that's not another 30 series card that you can only get on ebay from scalpers for $1400 >_<
  17. I believe that makes sense! So the actual processing is being done on the 3070, then forwarded to the gt710 for output via some horribly unoptimized driver code? If that's the case that's probably where the issue is. Cause who else is going to think to run a 30 series card with a gt710? Or better yet optimize drivers for communication between the two. Probably why the 3070 utilization is 40 something percent for just streaming video.
  18. All monitors have been configured to run at their native refresh rate. This ain't that.
  19. I recently put together a new build which is using an rtx 3070 as a primary gpu, and a gt 710 for additional monitors. I've noticed that when interacting with one of the two monitors that are connected to the gt 710 they are very stuttery/choppy (just dragging windows around on either monitor), and when trying to playback video (have tested youtube videos via chrome and local video files via media player), while the audio is fluid, the videos are extremely choppy. System is running the latest nvidia drivers (461.92). Not sure what could be going on with this? Thinking maybe it has something to do with the drivers??? Something else I noticed that is confusing is within task manager, if I have all windows closed on my primary monitors (running off of the 3070) and two chrome tabs open on the two monitors on the gt 710, task manager shows my 3070 utilization between 30-40% o_0. How could that be if the load is currently on the gt 710? Screen capture attached. Is there something going on behind the scenes where the 3070 is forwarding to the gt 710?
  20. Updating to the latest (beta) bios resolved this issue. I was able to enable xmp profile, and ram is now running at 4000mhz...nicccce.
  21. Just found the following thread where apparently this is a common issue with msi motherboards. When I did the bios update I used the latest stable release and not the beta release (because beta), but some users stated using the beta bios corrected this issue. Going to give that a go and see how it turns out.
  22. Just put a new build together. MSI Meg x570 unify, 5900x, G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 4000, rtx 3070. Factory bios everything boots and runs fine. I went into the bios today and noticed that my memory speed was running at the default 2133mhz. I enabled one of the default xmp profiles to run it at 4000mhz, rebooted, and now I receive error message "AP Initialization after microcode loading" 0_0. Anyone have any insight into why I may be receiving this message?
  23. Boy do I look silly...Yeah, right there in the bios there's a nice gui menu for adjusting the properties of all fan headers including the ability to select a temperature source, switch on pwm, and define a curve.
