  1. It could be I guess, after trying again it went to Amazon.com
  2. Hello, I just got my family member a new pc for the holidays. I set it up, it’s a Lenovo laptop. All I installed was google chrome, and printer drivers from brother and Epson. I always double check that I am downloading from the official websites. And I also set the user of who I gave the laptop to as a standard user, not an administrator. After they visited Amazon from google, it redirected the page to 64.225.25.197 (Visit AT YOUR OWN RISK). It’s basically one of those “there’s a problem, call Microsoft”. So my question is, what on earth would cause this, like I said, it was a brand new machine with nothing else installed but chrome and drivers for 2 printers. Could it be something with our isp dns server? My isp is Bell Canada for reference. We were in fact coming from google.com. I also looked to make sure there was no extension that was redirecting. thanks
  3. Summary Here is a post from Android Police that Google has an app to lock your phone if you refuse to pay your bill if your financing the device. So far, this is apparently only being used specifically with one company but I wonder how long until this becomes normal. Quotes My thoughts I think that this has gone too far. And I think that this is just gonna get more people rooting their cell phones or its gonna back fire on Google and people are going to get an iPhone. I could also see some carriers locking your device by mistake even if you payed your bill. 4. Hi, I have a Google home mini and for some reason when I call people with it, I shows up as an unknown number. I set it to use my cell number, verified my number and it didn't work. I factory reset my Google home mini but that didn't help. Anyone have a solution? Thanks.
  5. Ok thanks for the explanation. They are probably trying to speed up the network. Last week the speed was this... http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/3994379401
  6. Hi everyone, I would like to know if it's possible for an organization to block the use of VPNs on their network. I am a high school student and at my school I have noticed that streaming is throttled because when I use a VPN it works and when I don't, the content just keeps loading. But I tried to use a VPN today and it didn't work. And not only one, a hole bunch. Is this IT blocking VPNs or is it something else.
  7. Ya, I know that using ISP equipment is not really recommend in the first place but good routers cost a lot and the modem is really good.
  8. @Donut417 I have the drive connected and it is working on windows but I have not put anything on it yet. I don't care if they see it's connected, I just don't want them to see what's on the drive.
  9. Oh and I also want to partition the drive and use the other partition for windows update.
  10. Hi everyone, I want to use an external hard drive as network storage. The modem that the ISP provided has two USB 3.0 ports on it. But my question is does anyone think that the ISP can see my data on the drive? Or if it's safe to do this. Thanks.
