Clevo makes turnkey models that other brands sell that are more or less upgradable, like Eurocom's Tornado F5. But to compare these to boat anchors isn't really an exaggeration and there's a reason why they're called desktop replacements.

I'm going to assume you mean without formatting the old ssd, and not the new one, as you'll definitely have to format the new drive to copy the partitions over from the old one.
I would recommend you take a look at this article, seeing as it may not be entirely in your best interest depending on the cloning software. (I've personally never had a problem cloning drives).

Sorry I was focused on my final exams for the past two days. Glad to know you got it sorted out by Microsoft. Usually their support is pretty rubbish outside of activation.

That was able to help, in combination with additional steps I have taken such as reformatting the USB flash drive containing the latest Ubuntu ISO, using Rufus, to root out potential problems in Ubuntu install. I checked then flushed out any previous Ubuntu UEFI boot options prior to installing the OS again with efibootmgr.
 
I was able to wipe the disk containing the failed Ubuntu paritition and set up a new GPT.
 
With all of that combined, I was able to install and boot Ubuntu while in RST RAID. Got it working and managed to log in with control of the disk. The blank 1TB drive is also detectable, but will not format and mount it until I learn more about KVM and how to use it.

Not sure about that hard drive in particular, but many HDD's are now made with the USB header built into the PCB of the Hard drive, so many can't be converted. You'll have to take it apart to find out.

I use an Ornata for my daily keyboard. I love the membrane feel and I was used for blues for the longest time, but had a roommate who couldn't stand the loud noise of the blues, so I went for the Ornata because it was much quieter than other switches. I tried it at a friend's place first though, so I wouldn't recommend testing it in store unless they have it hooked up to a computer and you can feel the whole keyboard.
