  1. No I meant UnveiledShadows His original post states his rig couldn't run anything but minesweeper
  2. Some of these rigs posted are pretty sweet. But damn man, this dude that posted his computer that could only run minesweeper??? Wow, you definitely need the upgrade.
  3. #ROGRigReboot Hi, I have been a lurker for a long time on these forums, I just signed up for an account to post my video. I mainly watched LTT and NCIX Tech Tips on YouTube for years. So here is my Desktop PC, where I play some of my games. This HP Pavilion desktop has been with me for over 10 years!! Originally purchased for around $1000 CAD (taxes in) from BestBuy back in January of 2011. It was a birthday present from my parents. I am still holding on to this PC as it was special to me. It was one of the first pre-built desktops that came preloaded with Windows Vista Home Premium... I still cannot believe I was "excited" for Windows Longhorn/Vista. In the beginning, I really loved the "transparency" Windows Aero UI.. But using it for a while, I realized OH GOD, what a disaster that was... It was slow and sluggish for everyday use, let alone gaming... It was hogging resources like mad, not many of my older XP applications did not work well, and some does not even run at all. Windows Aero was an insult, sure it looks "nice", but without a proper graphics card that supports hardware acceleration, minimizing windows and maximizing animation were slideshow city!!! Anyways, in the early years (2007-2009), I was using the onboard nVidia nForce chipset graphics, it was slow, and crappy. CS 1.6 cannot even hit 60 FPS at 1024x768 resolution. It was a complete disgrace. But due to being in early high school, I did not have the throwaway funds to upgrade any components on my PC. After a bit of saving up, in early 2009, I bought a ATI Radeon 4670 512MB graphics card. This was the perfect choice since my HP desktop power supply did NOT come with ANY additional power cables that I could have used. The power supply quality was questionable anyways, so I would not have trusted either way. At the same time, I also upgraded my RAM to 4GB DDR2 - 800 (Originally came with 1GB DDR2). Below are my Specs of my HP Pavilion Desktop: CPU: AMD ASS-alon X2 4200+ @ 2.2GHz (2 Cores) GPU: ATI Radeon 4670 512MB from Sappire RAM: 4GB Kingston DDR2-800 HDD: 320GB WD 7200 RPM SSD: NONE OS: Windows 7 Home Premium Network: 10/100 Mbit/s interface Audio: Built-in chipset nVidia nForce I have a Asus branded Bluetooth 2.1 USD adapter, as well as Logitech Unifying adapter, and a D-Link Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n USD adapter for wireless internet... Pretty ghetto as the computer did not support any built in wireless solutions.. What it did have was FIREWIRE!!!! It was awesome with my old Classic iPod with firewire support.., in fact I only used FW with my old iPod back in the day haha. Anyways, some games I ran on this computer were: I tested with High Performance system setting with the last version of the Driver that supported the 4xxx series GPUs. Counter-Strike 1.6/CZ @ 1280x1024 avg: 50-60 FPS Counter-Strike Source @ 1680x1050 avg 25-40 FPS (depends on players on screen and explosions) L4D was better than CS:S with 40-50 FPS at med-low settings. L4D2 had slower frame rates, around a 10 FPS drop, but depends on the map and zombies on screen.. Software Inc at 1440x900 Windowed has avg: 30 FPS on the main menu, and when you start playing it, once you hit around 25+ employees, oh god does it lag like a slideshow.... ~5-10 FPS... Sims 4 ran at abysmal framerate. NFS Hot Pursuit at 720p ran around 30 on low settings. Cities Skyline REFUSES to run.. RE7 crashes and would not load. I wouldn't dare to try more modern games as it would just freeze my system up, then hangs for a bit, ultimately displaying error or system not responding error... Even FireFox HTML5 YouTube performance was abysmal.. The max video resolution it can play back is 720p.. The 1080p option does not even show... PhotoShop CS4 performance is just as disappointing.. Any filters applied will take eons, and even free-transformation takes forever. As I use Unreal Engine 4 at the office back in the day, and I know I cannot run it at home, I just stay in my office to work on projects. Nowadays, due to the lack of performance from my main PC, I mostly game some recent titles on PS4... Yes for now, I am a console "Gay-mer" ... I won't be joining the PC Master race until I can get my PC updated.. I wish I could get my Rig Rebooted by LTT and Asus ROG!! I would love to be able to use Unreal Engine 4 again (the last time I used it was a computer when I lived in Japan). I would love to be able to play the latest games at a higher resolution and frame rate than my PS4 (original launch Fat model) I would love to be able to use my Wacom Intuos4 in Photoshop CS4 and ClipStudio Pro without Pen LAG I would love to be able to view YouTube videos and NetFlix at 1080p or better and have an overall smoother Web browsing experience. I would also love to have a sRGB color accurate display for assisting with graphics work. Anyways, my dream list goes on and on... I know my chances are slim, but boy would it be great if I do get my PC Rig Rebooted!! Anyways, regardless the results Thanks for the contest Linus and Asus, and good luck to everyone who entered!
