  1. I'm planning to make a new gaming PC, and I've currently put together this build in PCPartPicker.

My budget for the build is around 1000$ and I already have a graphics card (GTX 1050ti)

I'm looking for any changes regarding maybe the cooler, and anything else that may catch your attention

you are heavily overpaying for ram. you can get a better mobo, you dont need such a big psu and you can get a better SSD for the price. if you want me to recommend lemme know and i can.

So if I were to change my RAM, as well as the PSU, what would you suggest for the changes?

  3. So my budget for a new build is around 700$ (would like to go a bit lower if possible) and the games that I normally play are just CS:GO, Overwatch, GTA V, and sometimes Hunt:Showdown (very unknown game imo). My question is

     1. Will this be able to support 144hz gaming (specifically in CS)

     2. Will there be any small changes that can lower the price of the build

     3. Is this build good enough to even play Apex (I haven't played it yet)

    The Build:

    https://pcpartpicker.com/user/h0ly/saved/4yP299

    P.S. I already have a GPU, a MSI GTX 1050ti

  4. Ok, so I went on ahead to make a build on PC Part Picker, wondering if this is good enough for gaming (play CS:GO, TF2, OW, and sometimes Arma 3 or GTA V)

P.S: I will be using the same 1050ti for this build

  5. So I have a Dell Studio XPS that I kinda want to make a bit better

    The PC has this:

    -Intel i7 975 Extreme

    -10gb of DDR3 RAM

    -GTX 1050ti

    -Stock Intel cooler

    -3.5(ish) tb of storage

    -idk what my PSU is

My GPU works completely fine with this, but my biggest problem is the RAM and the storage, as they are both about 5-7 years old, so my plan is to buy new DDR3 RAM and new hard drives

    Thinking of this hard drive:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013QFRS2S/ref=twister_B07M8JQ5S5?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

    And this RAM: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DHA44MK/ref=psdc_172500_t2_B007GWMR6U

Any ideas as to what I should do would be greatly appreciated :))

Edit: If I were to build new, my budget would be around 700$, while an upgrade would only be about 200$(ish) as I my current build is for just gaming, and I just want to fix my PC the best way I could.

  6. So I am planning to upgrade my PC since my current one is being somewhat annoying.

I used PC Part Picker to create the build and I want to know if this build is optimal for gaming

       - The build is missing a GPU mainly cause I already have one (MSI GTX 1050ti)

    The build:

Let me know of anything that I can change (my budget is about 750ish).

Make sure every single connector on the mainboard is plugged in correctly (including power delivery, sata, gpu and what not).

Do a clear cmos. Check the manual for how to do so! I think you need to bridge a jumper on the board.

To check the ram make sure it's in the correct slot. The manual suggest for two sticks slot 2 and 4 (counting from the cpu side). I had boot issues with an msi B350 mate if I wouldn't put the stick is exactly these slots.

Also try only booting from a single stick in slot 2.

The board has indication leds close to the 24-Pin power connector and above the cpu. Do they light up?

I tried to boot up without the RAM sticks, and there was no response. So the best thing for me to do right now seems to be calling MSI or trying the CMOS

  8. My brother has a new system that has these specs:

    MSI B350 Gaming Plus

    Ryzen 3 2200 G

    8Gs Corsair Vengeance DDR4 RAM

    No GPU

He has been having a lot of problems with boot up as the computer will turn on, but the monitor will give a no signal. He had this problem earlier on, but it turned out to be the motherboard since the motherboard had the wrong BIOS to support the APU. So he sent it to MSI to get a BIOS update, and then built his system with no issues. Now the computer won't boot and I don't know what exactly is causing it. My two guesses are the motherboard OR the RAM.

I'd gladly appreciate any help I can get, thank you!! ^v^

  9. I am using a Intel Core i7 975 extreme @3.33Hz

Whenever I start gaming competitively at games like CS:GO, the CPU will jump from about 50 degrees to about 70 degrees. Then it will jump to low 80's and soon hit 90 and shut down

My two ideas to fix this is to reapply new thermal paste or replacing my fans, but my fans seem to be good.

Yeah, that's not good. I would go ahead and just get a new card at that point, unless you really want to fix the current one you have.

You could check if the fan is even connected to the PCB underneath (it connects to a header on the video card) and blow the card out. It is possible the fan died and needs to be replaced.

Would this be a good idea, I plan to take out my GPU and run a game and see if the GPU is what is causing the crashes. But would that be ok and afterwards do I have to reinstall drivers after putting the GPU back?

Is your video card 78C at idle? If so, that would make sense why it is cutting off during a game.

You should probably get a better cooler for that card, or at the very least, blow out the shroud with compressed air and reapply thermal paste to the GPU. It's pretty toasty. Is the fan spinning?

Ok, I used NZXT CAM to check my spec temps during gaming, and what I'm seeing is that the GPU fan doesn't even spin. Also these temps are from when I'm streaming a video from YouTube.

download NZXT CAM. its a software that displays temps and some other details while in game(you have to activate it first with a keyboard shortcut). watch the temps. see how high it goes before the pc restarts.

The GPU would jump to about 87C and the CPU jumps to about 76

your normal temps seem quite high. did you check the temp while gaming?  could really be a over heating issue.

If I were gaming, I have to do it quickly since I know that my computer will restart very soon.

what game are you playing? i have the same issue. intermittently. PUBG. started about 2 weeks ago. computer just goes black and restarts. cld be a game issue.

Basically any game I play does this, and it basically plays for about 3 minutes or so and then the screen turns black and my whole PC restarts.

If you choose to replace the video card you will be fine. Just remember to dust out your case every 6 months or so. The upgrade would do you a lot of good. The one you have now is really dated.

So there is no problem with the PSU? Also what is the best way for me to dust out my computer

So would it be fine if I choose to upgrade my GPU? Or should I first check if the fan of my GPU will spin and if there is a build up of dust on it?

We will need more information in order to help you with your problem, although it appears your system may be overheating. The solution could be as simple as dusting out your PC, to installing new fans in your case.

Please download, install and run the following (free) utilities:

    Speccy

    HWMonitor

Open Windows' built-in Snipping Tool, take a "new snip" (screenshot) of Speccy, and add it to your original post.

HWMonitor can read sensor data from various components of your PC, such as your motherboard, processor, graphics card, and storage devices. It will be helpful to diagnose any overheating components.

I took a photo of the some components when I'm just using the PC to search up things online
