Glad it worked out, if you don't mind me asking for what company did you land a job?

Finally got my co-op, and will be officially em…

    Great news!
  3. okay, I wasn't sure if you used them and something was terribly wrong with it, I think I might go with the phantom, because getting the R5 will be a waste without liquid coolers...
  4. but it isn't cheap plastic and the R series has a notable amount of plastic as well
  5. why do you hate phantom cases?
  6. Well not really, it falls a behind the Phantom 530 in cable management and air cooling ability (my PC is 100% air cooled), and I prefer the sharp edges of the phantom series of cases
  7. I have watched videos done by a lot of tech youtubers on both, and I am still torn about it!
  8. So I was dead set on getting the Phantom 530, but with the release of the Define R5 I am kinda torn and can't decide! So this is how it is: Phantom 530 Pros: I REALLY like the looks of this case! It has very good air cooling capabilities It has a ton of cable management has a fan controller nice large case insuring that I won't have fitting issues top section can hold a rad Define R5 Pros: quiet Better water cooling support More customization Slightly Cheaper
  9. saw a 1gb HDD that thing looked it would need a coal plant to drive!
  10. So I was bored and was browsing YouTube when I found this video http://youtu.be/bw_JGFhlsUo%C2'> I was immediately struck by "Holy crap I remember that card!" and did what any reasonable person would do and watched it. As I was watching said video I had to sit back, and appreciate how far tech has gone is a reasonably short amount, I mean this card cost $350 back in its day, and I remember loaning my brother some money for the 5700 series, and that cost $250, and wasn't a great card, and was kinda hot, but it was the only thing that was reasonable to buy! Nowadays you can get that performace for $170! PC components have gone down in price, gone up in performance, and ease of use. I really wanted just to express how kind of amazing this all is!
  11. I reworked the build a bit http://pcpartpicker.com/user/jakenator96/saved/WCMypg
  12. So buddy for mine had the idea of gutting a broken NES (3.5in H, 10in W, 8.5in D) and turning it into a mini gaming PC for all the lols, and this is what I came up with http://pcpartpicker.com/user/jakenator96/saved/WCMypg . thing that is bothering me is what to do for the powers supply I chose a FM so if need I can just have it separate and plug the cables in when it is setup, but I have a little room to spare on the inside and I was wondering if anyone had other ideas?
  13. I have the issue that my closet is not that big, so all the boxes are slowly bleeding into my room... I think I have a problem... When all you think about in your spare time is working on tech When windows you start feeling the limitations of windows (experimenting with zorin 9 distro liked it for the 20 mins I had with it) When you take a old PC, and the previous owner asks "what are you planning to do with it?" and you lose them after one sentence. When the idea of having to use a program just to transfer over music onto a phone angers you the moment you know the names of PC parts the moment you know what a BIOS is
  14. what makes me laugh is that this thread died out like 2 months ago, and it rose back to life!
  15. finally said to hell with it and tried installing the 32 bit (I know it works because that is what I installed on my mother's PC) it gives me the initial Zorin 9 splash screen then nothing! also usb gives me this grub UI that I have know idea how the hell to use!
  16. how do you get linux live to allow me to install linux instead of just having work off a USB?
  17. I thought that, but even after redownloading I still have issues (this is actually my 3rd attempt...)
  18. I was trying to do that before, but it wasn't working out (the file would start get decompress and get stuck on the ubuntu file, this was with the Universal USB installer) I know my discs and drive are fine, because I used them to make a disc copy of the 32-bit version of this OS
  19. I try again. I kinda didn't get a paper (got the drive for free no box)
  20. my disc drive is 32x I believe, and I am writing at 4x to make sure to get the best possible write...
  21. ever time I try to burn to Zorin 9 to a DVD I keep this error, and I can't find a solution anywhere
  22. okay so I am in my Senior year and I would really like to make what is now my hobby (building/working on computers) a career, but I have a few questions... -Should I look into technical schools, and if so what should I look for in one? -What are techs looking for in employees skill set wise? -What are some keys things I should mention in a applications to one of these shops? -Is there a better way to find out about hiring shops other than going and calling them?
  23. it is actually pretty simple! When I first OC my 8350 to 4.2 (plan to overclock more when I get better cooling) I thought it was going to be much more difficult that it actually than it actually was.
