I have a 480 thats been gathering dust for a few years...I feel it's a waste and wouldn't mind giving it to someone who needs it. I'd prefer if It'd go to someone who'd use it for things other than (just) gaming; FAH, content creation for work or something.
I'll take photos when I get home...
I'm a bit miffed 'cause I gave my old build (haf case, 12GB ddr3, antec 1200 watt PSU+a 670 FTW EVGA FTW...my friend has a daughter in H.S., who does editing but can't afford a computer so I gave the mom+daughter the build (i7-920/rampage II MOBO)+non oem windows 7 ultimate...
That was more then a year ago and they haven't bothered to do shit with it.
So you can understand my reservation re: want the 480 GTX to go to someone who'll use it.
    It's in excellent condition, never OC'd, box/stickers etc...needs a good home.
Again, I'm not asking for any $$$, I feel like an idiot as it's just hanging out in a closet.

Here's a few taken on a 1.6x cropped canon. The last one with all the graves is really old, taken on a 2 megapixel camera. I put that there not cause I think it's good photo-wise, the subj. matter is just nuts. It's from the Philippines. 2nd largest graveyard for US soldiers (+ Filipinos who fought alongside 'em) in the world. Fer some history look up Japanese Occupation of Manila during WWII+death march of Bataan+Malinta Tunnel/Battle of Corregidor.

Set the DAC as your default playback device and leave the other things alone.  It's not like a graphics card with onboard graphics, one doesn't cancel out the other.

Your recording devices and playback devices are two separate things.

You can have your sound card + onboard audio + dac amp all turned on at once, you can only use ONE as your default music / audio player.   Your mic is completely separate from all those things, as it has nothing to do with playback, it only deals with your recording devices.

Yep...couldn't imagine using an I-Thingy minus the jailbreak. The kinda-more-than stock sec features and slight O.C.+ a few other key apps have extended this I-Thingy 5 way past its dirtnap.
    Essentials IMHO:
    Firewall /w port/header control+built in Whois
    diskpie
    udid-faker
    Location Faker
    Speed-Boost
    Speed Intensifier
    Browser Changer
    Screen Clip
    Bridge
    Everything downloader
    Signal 2/Cell Tower info
    Live Screen (mp4/mov) recorder
    ifile
    read any text format thingy
    Torrents
    Ability to use/import any song/video into eye-tunes
    TV-out (all apps)
Everything anyone should be able to do with a 700$ gadget they payed for
    Midi-Everything
    Adjust dB(z) output strength of wi-fi transmit/receive
    Activator
By-Pass goofy apple mail-FaceTime-twitter-vimeo "baked in" API/SDK crap
    Bake Lasagna/Grill tacos
Plug in any PC USB keyboard, use other non-appl USB devices (like microphones)
Take control of ur own public/private keys, use openvpn over proxy
    Blah blahs
This iPhone five was going to be my last less than dumb phone. Not so hip on ze phone taking my vitals.
The firewall shows every port (trying) being accessed. It's a nightmare and nooooo, I'm not talking analytics. Egads.
Question: how's android compared to a well-jail broken I-thing re: having the capability to see where that CC# is headed?
I became a bit weary after receiving a 60k tab courtesy of the irs. It wasn't phone related, some putz "dug" my trash can.
Fortunately, the person(s) involved were busted.
Buuuut, aside from the sec stuff, there's a lot of handy-dandy things, mostly music related a jb'd iPhone can do well.

I would do everything manually and completely forgo using AI Suite 3 for anything other than fan control. I'm at 1.29v 4.375GHz core 3.65 cache (125BCLK 3000MHz RAM).
1.31v is insane for 4.1GHz, which is why I never recommend auto-OC settings from any manufacturers "OC" software...it throws too much voltage for no reason other than guaranteeing stability, which isn't much of a guarantee when you're risking your CPU.

You should be able to get 4.1 stability ~1.25-1.27v, maybe even lower, I forgot where my voltage checkpoint was @4.1

If you want constant clock at 4.1 disable Intel Speed Stepping.

Hmmm. Seems like we like similar games.
Day of the Tentacle. Laughed my ass off. Lucas-arts had a few years where they did no wrong. I really like turn based RPGs, no j/RPGs though, mythology/culturally relevant subtilizes don't translate well, some goofy stuff. I think I lost half a year of my life playing x-com. Planescape-Torment is probably one of (as I remember it) the deeper, intense RPGs I remember. I'll have to check out Divinity Original Sin...
As DLC goes for ME2-3, I forget how it goes- does one buy all the add ons then start as a new Shepard to get all the story out of the ME universe? Or is it play through, then DLC then play again? Also is their an AIO boxed edition /w all the DLC? I know patches are inevitable but I realllllly don't like interwebz background services mucking things up.
Duh! I just remembered, I did buy Witcher 2, it's still in the shink wrap somewhere (always had a thing, 1 game at a time).
The two main writers quit after ME3 correct?
Oh yeah- Kotor 1. That was the game which "re" gamed me after a decade+ of no gaming...it went like this:
Space Raiders->Atari 800->Ultima II, III and IV. PC->Ultima V, blade runner, other things...I think the big end was fallout 1 era. (Still one of my favorite opening/intros). I did do Sierra stuff...and early interplay. Out of this World, more action blew me away, I remember it was "the show off game", ppl would come over and woooo out "It's a frigging movie!".
I did notice when playing a bit of ME2, the cut scenes look clunky vis a vis the gameplay.
That was 100% idiocy...when ME1 came out and fox-news did a spot about "inter-species sex gaming for your kids". Best response from bio-guy: "uh. Anyone [on this panel] play the game?" "no". Heh.
The state of games now mirrors Hollywood...crazy budgets=transformers 6. Zero story.
Odd thing which should be happening soon (in a few years when gaming rig graphic-ability ~ parity with Hollywood/Real-time fx) is the reverse. Hollywood not making movies from games (done) but Hollywood taking lessons from the games.
Hopefully (?) The industry won't dupe that aspect...Call of Battle Field 10 etc.
Good touchstone for a all this is ye olde Sci-Fi/Fantasy novel.
I thought ME (Kotor too) would have Series-Franchise Novel "quality" writing but I was proven wrong...maybe no Hugo-Nebula material writing but- and I'd say this often- when someone would ask
"What's the best movie you've seen past few years?"
    "Kotor...and Mass Effect"
    "Huh? Missed those".
Fallout 1 being the iso-turn based masterpiece it was, didn't translate into "movie" experience but I gotta say, it's a huge accomplishment, after playing it thru having that epic-story immersion experience linger.
    Hmmm....Divinity O Sin...
    Heh heh

Cupitor got a reaction from Stagea in Need Best Speakers for $5000 maybe
One can dish out 5k, 10k, 15k for speakers BUT if the room has no acoustic treatment=waste of $$$. Using EQ to attenuate problematic frequencies is a Bandaid covering an axe wound. Depending on how shitty (or not) the shape/dimensions of the room are a few hundred bucks can do the job (lucky) or most likely you'll end up doing the 1:2 or 1:1- as in $2500 on speakers, $1000-2000 on treatment. $600 speakers in a well treated room will sound much better than $4000 speakers in a rectangular shaped room with a 10'> ceiling height. You can search the webs for blueprints to DIY some great stuff on the cheap.
For most of us, the big issue is controlling 100hz> the waves are so dang long, they hang in the corners (standing waves) and do terrible, unthinkable things to the low end.
1st reflections are easier/cheaper to deal with. That's the sound (freqs/hz) that comes outta the speaker, misses your ears, "hits" the surface behind you and is reflected back into your ear- despite the speediness of the phenomenon, your brain does register the same sound 2x (multiples actually) creating dropouts due to nutty phasing issues going on in a crappy room.
Frequencies that reflect can be calmed down with diffusion. Mid-High/High frequencies (1st reflection hz) are directional and can be treated on the cheap, unlike the low booming stuff, which needs absorption. Look up "1st reflection mirror sound test". You can use a hand mirror while sitting in front on ur speakers to see where the "bounce" (a small delay) happens on the wall/surface....and stick something diffusion-y there. 1 problem solved.
If people consider buying 5000$ monitors or 4x mega sli setups, $5000 doesn't seem way outta line here. Gearslutz is the best IMHO for audio stuff but I'm fairly confident I'm not alone in saying that some of those threads get really nasty and go on for years.
People round here seem much more willing to dole out advice in congenial manner. Minimum snubbing.
