  1. I currently have a PC with a GTX 1070 and i5 6500, and am selling that to build a new computer: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Torchii/saved/zzg3t6 My only problem is I keep wondering if I am able to squeeze any more performance out of that price, this would be my first time using AMD so I'm not 100% certain as to what that translates to for Intel. Any recommendations for the build? I don't care about RGB or anything, I only really care about it being able to run any game in 1440p way above 60fps, and I will be using the machine for a game development course.
  2. I ran a monitor test, and have noticed that the problem is slowly but surely fixing itself and reverting back to normal. I don't understand how this works and I'm just going to avoid using this PS2 HDMI solution on my monitor. Thanks for a bit of information.
  3. I have an Asus VX24AH monitor that I've had for over half a year now. I primarily use it for my PC, however occasionally switch over to a PS4 or in this case a PS2 using a component to HDMI solution. When I switch back to PC, I realise that my monitor now has a flickering ghost image from the PS2 start menu that is visible on certain colours on my screen. Does anybody have any idea what caused this and how I can either revert this or stop it from getting worse?
  4. It just means that unless you're putting a heavy enough load on the psu then the fans won't start spinning, no way to turn it off externally I don't think though.
  5. So do you think the best thing would be to just buy a new psu?
  6. This is the op just on a different account. Basically, I tried to take a video to show, but all I could see is that once again, no lights appear on the gpu and nothing that could indicate life on the motherboard. The smell is mainly unlocatable as it just lingers around in the case. A new discovery is that the only way to actually " turn off" the pc and get rid of the blue led on the on button is to actually turn the power supply off. I'm guessing this means that the power supply is not completely dead, but maybe just doesn't have enough oomph to power anything but a measly blue light. I'm not really keen on buying a new psu just to test this and I'm kind of at a lost cause with what I can do. My Psu also has that eco mode thing so the bridge with the paperclip would most likely not work as the other replier suggested.
  7. From looking more into the LG 29UM68-P monitor, it seems that the 80Hz is limited only to freesync? I may be wrong however some clarification would be nice.
  8. Usually yeah, I know that my local hardware stores have monitors laid out that you can try out for yourself.
  9. There is close to a million more pixels on the 1440p monitor, but the 1070 shouldn't have problems with that on most games.
  10. It really depends if you value having that ultrawide aspect ratio, or if a higher resolution matters more to you. It's really person to person with these kind of things so I recommend you go to a hardware store and personally test both and ultrawide 2560x1080 monitor and then a 25690x1440 one.
  11. Ah right, with that knowledge I think I might go with that, and spend the rest of my budget on building a new computer with a GTX 1080, and an i7. Thanks for this
  12. This is a good monitor, but I'd also be willing to spend a little more money for either a higher refresh rate or resolution. Definitely bookmarked that monitor though.
  13. I think the amazon link is down for this, and the colours are a major downside to the monitor that I don't think I could get over.
  14. Also, in the future, I do have plans to further upgrade the computer too.
  15. Some gaming yes, but mostly production and movies, currently I can run almost all games without major hitches at max settings aside from a few poorly optimised games.
