  1. I would post more pics but it seems I've reach my limit for uploads HAHA! sorry for the large sized files.
  2. Intro: About 3 months ago I decided it was LONG past time for me to update my first ever build. (What it used to be...https://pcpartpicker.com/b/hYCypg ) And that pretty much meant I was going to have to do a re-build. Lucky for me, I love building PCs,but I wanted much more than just upgrading some parts. I wanted the aesthetics to be great, a nice theme, to overclock everything, keep all the components nice and cool, and be as quiet as possible. I wanted to be like those guys/girls who make "Featured Builds"!! That being said, I also wanted to not be poor after I finished. Thus a few things had to be reused and may not be the best of the best, BUT I'm super proud of my build and hope you guys/gals enjoy it too! Build: The parts list basically speaks for itself. Good, quality components that get the job done but may not be the newest or most RGB. Speaking of RGB, that was the theme I settled on... Not RGB. Don't get me wrong there are some Amazing RGB builds out there, and I like them, but I did something a little more subtle with just some accent lights to stick with a Black, White, and Grey color scheme. I have always loved the look of sleeved cables. They are just a great way to customize your build, make it look clean, and add a little something extra. I didn't want to buy pre-sleeved cables though, plus I didn't have room for the extra cable length. So I decided to sleeve the cables that came with the new PSU. But building custom PCs is a labor of love, and believe me hand sleeving cables is labor! But it was SO much fun. I learned so much about cables, PSUs and how to avoid screwing up (and how to fix your screw ups; They happen a lot)! Thank you so much to Lutr0, Mainframe Customs, JaysTwoCents, and PaulsHardware for the work you guys have done. You are awesome resources and a wealth of knowledge! Between the cables and figuring out the layout inside the case, that took the majority of my time. But hey! I got caught up on One Piece (SO many episodes!) Conclusion: I got exactly what I hoped for. I nice, clean looking PC that I built! Plus it overclocks great! (CPU-4.4Ghz, GPU-work in progress.) And I can play all my games on Ultra or very High without any CPU bottlenecking anymore like I did with my previous AMD Phenom. And a few friends have even asked me to build simple PCs for them! I REALLY hope you enjoy reading this and looking at the pics. Thank you Pcpartpicker and LinusTechTips community!! Final product https://pcpartpicker.com/builds/edit/?userbuild=V4MZxr Please comment and 1+ Cheers! Matt_the_d0ct0r
  3. Sorry I'm meant 3.3V. I think I've got it now. The pin that was supposed to read 3.3V was reading 0. HOWEVER, the wire next to it was supposed to be a ground (read 0) but it was giving me 3.3V. Well after quick switch, and double check with the trusty multimeter, I plugged up the PSU tester and everything works perfectly now!! Thanks a ton for the pinout diagram! That was the biggest help!
  4. OK I think I'm following what you're saying. I was able to jump the PSU with the paperclip, fan spun and after about 5 seconds stopped. That's OK it is one of the quiet, eco PSUs so the fan only spins when there are heavy loads. I checked every pin with a multimeter and I found 1 pin that I think is supposed to carry 3.5 V but it was reading 0. All the other pins checked out just fine. Trying to trouble shoot now. Thanks for the help. Anything else you can add would be great! I would really like to see this PSU pass on the little PSU tester before I connect it to my new build. I REALLY don't want to fry anything.
  5. Hey Guys and Gals, I just finished my first custom cable sleeving to a new Corsair RM750X. After plugging all the cables back into their connectors, I plugged them into a PSU test, flipped the switch on, and......nothing, sceen didn't even light up. I checked the PSU tester on another PSU and it worked just fine. So I'm guessing that I probably repined incorrectly the 24 pin or 8 pin cables. I made a pin diagram when I started the project but I'm sure I could have still messed up repining. So my questions are, 1) How can I test the PSU to see if it is even working? (without plugging it into expensive components) And all the cables were black to start with so I have no idea which ones to short out with the "Paper Clip Test". 2) How can I test each cable it see if the are pinned in the correct positions? Thank you for advice and input!!! PS. I have a multimeter and know how to use it, just not against PSUs.
  6. If I'm understanding you correctly, you just swapped the positions of a black wire and yellow wire, then No this won't be a problem. All the wires are the same, just plain copper wire. However, MAKE SURE they are swapped on BOTH the motherboard side and the PSU side! If not you will definitely have issues. Black is usually ground and yellow is usually 12 volt. Big difference.
  7. I've had this pair from Creative Labs for over 10 years and they still work great! For $20 the sound quality and bass are fantastic. But the biggest plus for me is the noise cancellation, awesome! http://us.creative.com/p/headphones-headsets/ep-630 Hope this helps you.
  8. I did think about upgrading to Skylake but it would require upgrading my RAM to DDR4 too. I didn't think it would really be worth it.
  9. I'm upgrading my current CPU, a Phenom II X4 Black 965, because I don't feel like I'm getting the best performance out of my GTX 970. I'm thinking of going with a 4690K but was wondering if I would still have issues with that CPU. I wasn't going to get the 4790K just for price reasons but if the value is worth it.... And I only use this PC for gaming. No editing or rendering will be done. Thanks for your input!
  10. Ah dang, sorry to hear no community colleges near you offer computer programming degrees. I'm speaking in USA terms. By programming certs, I mean become certified in multiple languages (C, C+, C++, HTML, java (that's a great one to do!) that sort of thing). Actually there a lot of places online where you can do this on your own time. Here's something straight from Oracle, I don't know how helpful this will be I haven't looked deeply into it. http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=458&get_params=p_track_id:JSE7PROG
  11. I can't remember if mine is OEM or not. But if it is am i screwed and just have to buy a new copy? Or can product keys be transferred? Disable from one device and reactivate on another?
