  1. If you upgrade to 32GB and tried it you'd see your system hit over 22GB usage on Lighthouse, I know as I play it and have done that.
  2. May I ask but why didn't you go with the retailer for warranty? They're normally faster and will either give you a new replacement or full refund with it being so close to the purchase date.
  3. If you play Star Citizen or Escape From Tarkov then 32GB is a must have, most games are fine with 16GB.
  4. I'd say the cooler should do the job but will be on the hot side, you might end up losing performance due to some lower clocks because of heat but for gaming loads it should be fine, RAM will be fine at 3000mhz, while you'd have better performance with faster RAM it's probably not worth upgrading on your budget. (I'd be getting a better cooler before upgrading the RAM) For instance with my PC stock with only the RAM at 3600mhz IF 1800mhz I get to 90c in R23 with no thermal throttling but clocks average to 4.2GHZ and a score around 14k, others with better cooling get slightly better results and I've got a much better cooler than you (Dark Rock Pro 4), just remember gaming workloads are much cooler. If you do the upgrade make sure to update the BIOS before taking out the old chip.
  5. While it might work without official support I'd be a little worried about stability, if you do go ahead with the 5600 make sure to go somewhere with a good returns policy if it doesn't work out. You could ask ASrock support and just see what they have to say, if they confirm it's supported unofficially then you could go for it.
  6. What @RONOTHAN##said and while I'm not an expert I'd say that you won't have to worry about shorts with that so shouldn't have any risk to other hardware, it'll either work or it won't.
  7. Everything appears to be running fine but my motherboard speaker started to buzz while at desktop. Removed the speaker and checked it was nothing else, reinstalled the speaker and it's not done it since although I'd like to know why it did it. Don't think it was a fan warning although I should've checked, maybe I should replace the CMOS battery and speaker? I haven't gotten any WHEA errors and ran HCI Memtest for 6+ hours with a 500% pass along with TestMem5.
  8. Asus has been bad for years, I know ASRock are a sister company of them but I'd go with MSI or ASRock, Gigabyte would be 3rd on my list.
  9. Just wanted to do an update on this, RMA'ed the 3700x and got another back it's been running fine with XMP on (which never worked on my old CPU) for over a week now so it was a dying CPU.
  10. Tried something, left everything on stock settings except changed LLC on both VCore and SOC to medium instead of Auto and it's now been Prime95 stable with small FFT's for 20 minutes, the frequency seems to be slightly lower because it's not boosting as high but it's been stable for that little amount of time. Some of the BSOD's I was having was in really light workloads with some chrome tabs open which made me originally think RAM until it was fine in Memtest86 but thinking about it if the voltage wasn't reacting fast enough it'd make sense for it to crash when changing workloads. Going to continue messing around with things in BIOS as it's got me curious, opened an RMA request with AMD telling them of my issue, if they accept my RMA I'll probably do it even if it means no PC for a few weeks, it use to be stable with the stock BIOS settings. I'll also run Prime95 for a good few hours when I sleep and see if it holds up for 4+ hours.
  11. The RAM is also at the stock 2133mhz without XMP running, I've got the BIOS completely stock so absolutely nothing is overclocked even Afterburner has no OC on it and shut down.
  12. Specs are on my profile, temps are fine, CPU isn't even hitting 70c same with the chipset hitting 72c. 3700x|x570 Elite|2x8GB Patriot Viper 3600mhz CL17|EVGA P2 1000w. Wouldn't updating BIOS wipe the CMOS? I'll give it a bash because it's something I'd forgotten about but thought the BIOS update would be the same?
  13. Everything is stock, I've ran Memtest86 for 4 hours with 4 passes without an error but sometimes my PC will just crash with a black screen and a kernel power 41 error. Some of the BSOD's I've had are IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, IRQL_GT_ZERO_AT_SYSTEM_SERVICE SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION All these have the same module related to them ntoskrnl.exe but Prime95 isn't stable with errors within the first minute or a complete BSOD, I've flashed my BIOS from F11 to the latest F20b (Beta Bios) but it's still got the same issues, my thinking is either PSU/CPU or Motherboard but the RAM still has me guessing. UPDATE: Just wanted to do an update on this, RMA'ed the 3700x and got another back it's been running fine with XMP on (which never worked on my old CPU) for over a week now so it was a dying CPU.
  14. If you were to buy that you'd need to add at least another 4GB RAM (which is EOL DDR3 so you'd probably need to get it used for a half decent price), the PSU could do with being replaced and the GPU being 1GB VRAM would limit you to 720p in most titles and others low 1080p, if you can save at least $200-$250 you'll be able to get something much better new with warranty. PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 2200G 3.5 GHz Quad-Core Processor ($77.98 @ Walmart) Motherboard: ASRock B450M-HDV R4.0 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard ($63.98 @ Newegg) Memory: OLOy 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($47.99 @ Newegg) Storage: TCSunBow X3 480 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($45.99 @ Amazon) Case: Rosewill RANGER-M MicroATX Mini Tower Case ($25.99 @ Amazon) Power Supply: Corsair VS 550 W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply ($33.98 @ Newegg) Total: $295.91 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-12-28 05:06 EST-0500 Now this is much more expensive but at least you haven't got to worry about buying more RAM (which will cost you at least $30), SSD ($40) and another PSU (This one might be shit that I've added but it's enough to get you started without burning your house down). If you want to shave off $20 get 8GB RAM instead, but you'll end up needing to upgrade eventually. Also this will have some warranty, the RAM/SSD are weird brands but should do the job, you've got newegg/amazon support with them at least for the first few weeks.
  15. I second this, didn't know myself at the time that it'd only control the fan RGB.
