Weak1ings got a reaction from DevilishBooster in nvidia quadro or gtx titan?
I do know that the original GTX Titan has huge benefits over the Titan X for a workstation in your situation, but after that I do not know anything.
It was also not made for gaming, unlike the Titan X.
What will the newest, Pascal Titan have?

Weak1ings got a reaction from Hackentosher in What's a good cheap exhaust fan?
I would like to start off saying I have not tried these fans:
Cooler Master SickleFlow, they are cheap and even have LED options if desired.

You might want to considering looking at a CRYORIG H7 or M9i if you have very limited space.
Hope it helps!

Weak1ings got a reaction from sissj in How to kill an R7 240
Sell it, it will get you more money than killing it will... Really.
It would make a great gift to young children and family members who have desktops given by their parents/are bought by them, it's plenty to run most games at 60FPS (that a child would be wanted to wind up playing... Not Witcher 3.)
You could fry your PC and the GPU die along with it...

Weak1ings got a reaction from Krechan1 in i5 6500 vs fx 6300 for streaming
I would recommend spending the extra right now for an i7 or Xeon Skylake because there is no way to make up for the difference, should you choose to upgrade from that i5.
World of Tanks is annoyingly, a single core application, so go for the i5 over that 6300! (you would anyways.)

Weak1ings reacted to TheArmChairGuru in How to wire up my house for networking?
Suggestions: (and taking into consideration you actually want to stay in this home or increase it's resale value)
If you are doing a stud-out renovation (replacing wall boards, etc.) then you should definitely consider Cat 7 wiring to each of the bedrooms, the family room, the garage and the kitchen.
Now the arguments come.... "why would you want to blah blah blah".
For the answer... if you are removing wall boards anyway, just do it, you never know what you or the next homeowner may want or need for internet usage.
Bedrooms....given, family room,...given, but garage ? Garage may be used at a later date for internet enabled smart home devices, garage doors, who knows, but it will have a connection if you don't want wireless security to be an issue.
But why my kitchen ? Usage now or later for internet enabled smart home devices such as say, a refrigerator that has ordering capabilities.
Yes but I can do all that wirelessly !
Yes you can but you said you were doing a renovation, so as I said, *IF* it's a stud-out renovation, just do it.
If you aren't tearing up wallboards, run a line to where ever the TV will be for a smart tv and be done with it, maybe add a couple of wireless access points at the opposite end of the house from where ever the wireless router is located.
If you have a basement it's Uber easy; I do and I wired all the bedrooms in the house running the cables through the basement into a first floor built-in cabinet that serves as the hide for the switch and networking gear.
Good luck, good scores, rock on !

Weak1ings got a reaction from dalekphalm in How to wire up my house for networking?
Yea, I think the basement idea would be a lot easier for multistory and single story houses as well! The attic would be a good idea on a second story and you can try to find a hole to the basement for your router, and literally drop down the cables.

Weak1ings got a reaction from Jrhumphrey89 in Should you still leave room for SLI?
It would seem that any GPU you desire does not exist right now.
Polaris and Pascal will probably be fine at 4K,(I'm looking forward to getting 144FPS!) and I am assuming that you are waiting for them, like me. I like the Cooler Master 130, just be aware that there are different cases like the Silverstone RVZ01 which are a more "console size" form factor. The silverstone in particular, has a optical drive slot unlike many competitors.

Weak1ings got a reaction from froot in Best budget Gaming graphics card
If you are looking for a GPU around $150, the GTX 950 is stellar.[price range]
It won't max out games like Tomb Raider 2013 at 1080p though... but SLI is nice for resale.

Weak1ings got a reaction from Marinatall_Ironside in Case fans - What do you use for mounting them to your case?
if it doesn't fit, I would 3D print a custom fan mount and use that. Otherwise, the case.

Weak1ings got a reaction from Philcat101 in Which Graphics Card?
Here are my results from simple testing:
Q6600 vs i7 4790K in Space Engineers using presets of high and low as max and min respectively,
i7
Maximum settings: 22-23 FPS
Minimum settings; 24
Q6600
Maximum settings: none Please note it was tested on a ancient installation of Windows 7 with tons of viruses no doubt.
Minimum settings: 18-20 FPS
There were huge micro-stuttering and frame drop issues on the Q6600... much less enjoyable.
Friends AMD FX 8300 + R9 380 combo:
Maximum settings: 14-16
Minimum settings: 14-16
[all these are in DX11 on SE at 1080p.]
I really wish I could test that R9 380 on my i7 4790K for an actually good comparison. For all I know, it could be great at SE!

Thanks! finally, somebody with a AMD GPU talks about SE This comparison was staring at a massive ship in the same spot.
This makes me really look forward to Pascal, when I can finally leave the GTX 660 SLI master race for 60+ FPS!

Weak1ings got a reaction from Philcat101 in Which Graphics Card?
I totally agree with this. I'll do some research on GTX 660 Q6600 numbers vs GTX 660 i7 4790K numbers and see what turns out. When I did use that 660 with my old Q6600 system, I never really noticed a huge jump in performance in that game though... I kind of wish I had a AMD GPU to test in my i7 rig that's not AGP.

Weak1ings got a reaction from givingtnt in Nvidia Quadro FX3700 yay or nay
Somehow, I doubt it would benefit you if you don't already know it would. That being said, I am possibly wrong.
If Photoshop can use CUDA, you probably won't benefit significantly.

Weak1ings got a reaction from Nosfy in Power surge
A UPS stands for Uninterruptible-Power Supply. These guys provide surge protection at the minimum, and battery power with enough time to let you shut down at a little more cost. It is recommended to put one in between the wall and your power supply cable as no surges can then harm your probably expensive computer.
