If you feel you might wind up playing games instead of doing homework, I'd recommend getting a Desktop FOR GAMING and a separate, fairly cheap laptop that's not for gaming.  The reason is to separate your gaming from school work and remove some temptations.  If you can easily control yourself though, all the time then go for that laptop.

1080 for sure,the 780's are like old still are good but SLIing them over a single 1080 is pure stupidity

My name is No No NO and am ages at 1 year old.

To add info, you will be able to control the fan via DC ONLY.  I use similar items in my own system so they can turn off automatically.  However, it should give you a % so, 100% = (I presume) 12Volts.  This leaves no reason to replace the case fans unless you need that accurate reporting of 4-pin PWM.  I have an ASUS Z97 PRO Gamer, it controls the fans over DC by limiting the voltage, which I think yours should be able to do.  It will be a lot quieter than connected to your PSU.
 
In other words:
There is no need to chance your case fans if your motherboard actually supports fan control in the DC mode.

I would recommend against changing any parts, simply because that money could be spent on a new system.   A Cryrorig H7 would do very well and outperforms the Hyper 212 by some margin.  (plus it should look better)
