Now what is the heart of my PC?  A Intel Core 2 Q6600!  Still runs most of my games well enough to keep up with a GTX 660!

I like the Macbooks at my school...  Rather have a PC anyday but they are handy...
Why do you need a $1000 vs a $500 laptop?  It's not like you'll get stellar performance from either... 
You could even try Ubuntu on it

Get Max Resolution and Textures first those two are the most important.  Next you will want frame rate and shoot for 60 or 144fps, afterwards (or depending on your acceptable frame rate) turn up the lighting and LOD especially.

If you don't OC, the Xeon E3-1231 V3 is the best alternate to the i7 out there.  Depending on the price an R9 290X would be cheaper (obviously it's a space heater)
 
Otherwise theres the i5 if you OC, and the AMD octo-cores (FX line) that are fine but just are not as good as other cards.

I would use Firefox as it is unafiliated with any big company trying to control and track what you browse.  It also supports almost everything Chrome has and is half the size, if you want a fast experience go with Firefox.  Use Chrome if you MUST translate a website then switch back the firefox.  It's also 1/2 the size.  Firefox still has plugins too but in all honesty, why do you need plugins for a browser beyond flash?

For those who say that Guns are bad and should not be allowed in the hands of people consider this?
If you outlaw guns, Who will have guns?  The Law abiding citizen or the Outlaw?  The Outlaw of course and now since guns are outlawed, a gangster can go around robbing houses and assaulting people without fear of immediate response.  It takes (guess) .05seconds for a gun to stop a intruder, on average it takes 3 minutes for a Officer to arrive at your house.

How many countries with dictators allow people to own firearms?  0.
What is the Largest army in the world?  The People of the United States.
Who is the government supposed to serve? The People it governs
What is the duty of the People when the government fails to serve the people and is a form of Tyranny? Reboot the Government with a new "OS" to serve the people.
Guns are Only bad in the hands of bad people.  Why do we want to take away guns for killings when cars, drugs, and knifes already kill people...

For those of you who think that this is the death of bitcoin you are VERY wrong.
Mount Gox was at one point the largest trader.  Before it's first failure (when btc was around $1000) there were 2 other traders the same size or larger.
