  1. Hey community! So as I've moved for uni, I had to get a new setup. While I still have my r5 2600x and gtx1070 pc, I still need to buy a monitor. The budget is set at a soft £200 maximum, and two that caught my eye were the Philips E-line 245E1S and the BenQ BL2420PT Amazon Links https://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-245E1S-00-Monitor/dp/B07SPCWZHP/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8&th=1 https://www.amazon.co.uk/BenQ-BL2420PT-Designer-Adjustment-Animation/dp/B00UAMYTR8/ref=asc_df_B00UAMYTR8/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=310809345994&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3590869047274909983&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9045312&hvtargid=pla-562740141966&psc=1&th=1&psc=1 I'm studying computer science, but I do enjoy the movie watching experience, light photo editing and light gaming uses. So please let me know which one you'd recommend or if anyone has another good monitor to recommend. I'm personally looking for a large, 2k monitor. The reason I'm indecisive is because though the Philips is newer and sexier with them bezels, the BenQ monitor has a better contrast ratio and brightness, is rotatable, but older and a lil uglier. Let me know what you think though, and if there's another monitor to go for - my ideal rn would be the Samsung LC27JG50QQUXEN but it's a lil outta budget Cheers and thanks in advance
  2. I know that would be the easiest solution, but its old but gold; 800watts isn't super cheap (plus its got rgb), and I'd rather not get a new one. It's just a looks concern, so it's not super necessary, and I'd rather not invest a lot, but it would be nice yknow. Thanks for the advice though!
  3. Hey guys! I recently finished my build, and I'm super happy with how it turned out. HOWEVER, there was one thing bothering me; Those damn ketchup and mustard psu cables So I wanted to ask, what do I need to know about PSU cables, when choosing custom psu cable extensions. I currently own the Corsair GS800 (ATX, Not Modular) and my case has more than enough room for spare cablez in the shroud so dw fam https://pcpartpicker.com/product/mLmLrH/corsair-power-supply-cmpsu800g Any cool cheap recommendations for sleeved cables? (white preferably)] Thanks in advance!
  4. THANK YOU GUYS! I went to the Bios and from there, I could edit them. I can always rely on the LTT community!!!
  5. Heyya Guys! So I bought a new pair of Scythe RGB Illuminacion Led strips (Magnetic LEDs) to make my build look sweeter. I uhnboxed them, plugged all the cables in correctly, turned on the PC and they Worked! Hooray! However, they keep flashing random, consistent colours, so I decided to install a software to control them. I installed both ASROCK and ASUS' software for LED lights, as those were the two which were listed compatible on the box. Unfortunately, neither of them work! The ASROCK is a bare-bones program, which does absolutely nothing, and the first version of ASUS software (had an 0.5 or something) didn't even startup, and the second version I installed (an 0.6 I think? the latest one anyway) did turn on, but couldn't find the lights. Anyone knows what to do? Would be a huge help. Thanks! P.s. My Mobo comes with an RGB header port and an AMD_led_1 port, I tried either one AND both, but no change... Motherboard (ASROCK B350 Pro Atx)

    JAPAN

Heyyo! So I luckily managed to get myself on a school trip to Tokyo in Japan. We'll be going in a few months, it's gonna be dope. I was wondering if there's any stores in Japan which sell PC parts and general tech for kinda Cheap. Sorta like a microcenter, but who's prices are better and is in Japan (Close to Tokyo) plz lemme know if there are any cool stores, thanks!
  7. Also another question; would a small cpu water cooler be better than a beefy air cooler? They're both at around the same price, so which one would you recommend?
  8. A bit out of my budget More reasonable price, but I ask, why an 8700 rather than overclocking? I've read that the 8600k can reach incredible clock speeds. I mean, I won't often be trying to overclock to incredible speeds, because I'm insecure about damaging it, and thermal limitations. So, why a 8700? is it worth an extra 60 bucks?
  9. Premiere Pro and after effects are the ones I'll mostly use.
  10. You read the title, Paired up with a 1060GB for gaming and light video editing, would a: 1700X be better, or a 8600k be better? now that the cheap mobos are out for coffee lake, I think I'm leaning towards that However, Ryzen has better multi-core performance, right? and ones a r7 and the others an i5. Which one would you recommend me to go with? Thanks in advance!
  11. So I'm planning to build a gaming PC, at a budget of MAX 900, preferably less. I'm planning to use it as a general use PC (so I'm keeping it for a few years), with plenty of 1080p gaming, but a bit of video editing and rendering as well. Also, the cpu will probably be paired up with a 1060 6GB, or a 1070 if prices have dropped by the summer, and I can earn some more cashshsh AND it's not bottlenecked by the CPU. Point is, I'm not sure which cpu to get, and I've got a few questions: Firstly, I heard that you can actually use Coffee Lake CPU's on Z270 Motherboards, and seeing that Z370 is kinda expensive, I was wondering if there's a trade off, how it works...? Furthermore, I was confused as to if the Ryzen 2600 is overclockable? Anyway the CPu's I have in mind are: Intel i3 8350k Intel i5 8400 AMD Ryzen 2600 (x) AMD Ryzen 1600 (x) Intel i5 8600k (Although I feel it's overkill/ too expensive with a z370 mobo, could get it if i get extra cash instead of 1070) I know it's a lot of questions, thank you in advance!
  12. I already own a 256SSD and My friend gave me a free 2TB Hard Drive as well as the power supply, just I cant remember the Names of the HDD and SSD. Ram Prices for 16GB tend to be around $170, RGB or not. Would the 5 8400 + 1050 ti be better than a 5 1600 + 1060 6? Also, is 1x16GB better than 2x8GB? or no difference? AlsoAlso, is 1050ti, which has 4GB better than 1060 which has 3?
  13. Hey People of the PC Community... I've finally accumulated the right amount of money to buy a PC Now comes the time to decide if I go team Intel or team AMD Here are the 2 Potential Builds: AMD - https://pcpartpicker.com/list/rPWdNN Intel - https://pcpartpicker.com/list/CR8kkT I would like my build to be able to run Games at 1080p on very high settings at 60FPS+, and to have decent render times for projects that involve Premiere Pro, After Effects and a bit of 3d Modelling and Animation Please leave any suggestions to how to improve the builds while keeping them as below $800 as possible. Mention any issues I might run into, but ultimately tell me which build is more Worth it. Also, I have taken into account that the Ryzen build is easier to upgrade, but I think I will probably upgrade GPU's before CPU
  14. but... why tha fuck is the 3000mhz cheaper...? I'm confused.
  15. woah... Thanks to all you guys for replying Now, I must apologise, because i thought I had written 1080p : I dont plan on playing at 1440p, this is a budget build Dont know why i put 1440p instead of 1080p, would have avoided a bit of confusion Also, I'm still not sure on which card to get, though I'm probably going to get the EVGA card, as its compact unique squareness matches the rest of my build, and it has a higher core boost. Furthermore it goes for about 250$ first hand, which is kinda in the budget so Yay 19_Blackie_73 - I was gifted the power supply, and I already own it. I wouldve preffered a smaller, more modular one but oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Again, thanks for helping out!!
