Hey everyone! Been a while since I was any bit active in the community as I was restrained to a fairly weak laptop and couldn't look at all the great hardware. Super happy to be rejoining the enthusiast community with a fairly decent build.

    Purpose:
This system was built with the primary purpose of being my primary content creation / gaming rig while also having the power to run some basic server instances for the gaming communities that I operate.

    Hardware:
CPU: Ryzen 9 5950x 4.0 GHz base overclock (16x32 core/thread)     RAM: 64 GB 3200MHz CL16 (T-Force Vulcan Z TLZGD432G3200HC16FDC01 x 2 kits)     Motherboard: Gigabyte X570 UD (Not the best but it is a start)     Graphics Card: Zotac RTX 3080 Trinity     Power Supply: Corsair RM1000x     Case: Lian Li Lancool One     Storage:
            2x Samsung 980 Pro 2TB
            1x Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500GB
2x PNY CS1311 2.5'' SATA III 960GB (Not great but only used for overflow game storage)
2x Seagate Exos X14 ST10000NM0478 10TB 7200 RPM 256MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive (In RAID 1, used for backups and mass storage)

    Conclusion:
I know that there are several areas of improvement that would benefit my workload however it is ultimately a build of opportunity. Many of the parts I scored from local deals at a fraction of their retail price. Some components have also been scavenged from my other servers in my homelab.

I am very interested to see what the community thinks as this is certainly one of the nicer build that I have had the pleasure of making. I am planning on upgrading to a pair of nicer monitors and designating my existing ones for my side monitoring displays. As for now I have a pair of HP Professional displays that are fairly color accurate and an older dell on the side that is used to monitor thermals and Discord of course.

I like LTT and its various channels, but I've lost interest in the big man long ago, as well as respect that I had for him. Honestly now of days I find myself disliking videos he's in cause far more often than not I just get annoyed by things he says or does.

Watch out as the CPU and motherboard that you are interested in does not support DDR4 memory as selected in your part list. For first time builders a tool like PC Part Picker might be a good idea to ensure all your parts are compatible. Still always recommend double checking manually but it would be a good start at least. It's never fun when you get a big box of components and one incompatibility sets back the whole project.

Other components look to be alright though given your use case. You mentioned that your budget is around 2k so it might be worth getting a slightly beefier GPU as it could sure make a difference in your day to day. I currently use a 3080 and am plenty happy with my 1440p ultra wide. Depending on the type of display your are looking to run and particularly target refresh rate your mileage may vary.

Kongel got a reaction from Evad in Advice Needed - Upgrading Old CPU (Core i5 750) + Motherboard (Asus P7P55D Pro) - What should I upgrade to?
I recently upgraded from an i7-4790 that was for the longest time rocking just a GTX960 as well.  I had awesome success with upgrading it to a 1070 and even had an NVMe drive booted using a riser card.  Not the most eye catching build but certainly rocked most games for sure.  I flipped the PC on a local marketplace for about 500 total with all the storage I had in it. I think using a local marketplace would be a great way to find some excellent deals on hardware that is a few generations old.  A complete system that is a few generations old may only cost a few hundred depending on how far back you are willing to go.

To help a bit in case you haven't used one before or don't know where to start searching I found a few local listings in my area that are pretty typical from my experience.  Just search up any of the listed terms and you should find some interesting deals.  Sometimes people are not the best about putting the specific components they have and you might have to do a bit of digging.

Kongel reacted to Cakeman in RAM compatibility with Ryzen 5 1400
You don't really need 3200 mhz ram dog. 2133mhz will be absolutely fine for a 1400 with what I am assuming is probably a nvidia 1050ti-1060 card.

    https://pcpartpicker.com/product/JW4NnQ/crucial-memory-ct2k8g4dfs8213

You don't need speeds past 2800 mhz until you have a 1070 or higher, and even with a Ryzen 1400, the processor could not take advantage of infinity fabric.

Buy this ram and save yourself money for maybe a Ryzen 1500.

    Hi
So ive seen alot of people doing build logs and i thought this time around i would do the same.
This is my first watercooled build.
I originally just wanted to upgrade my i5 3350P but it just kinda snowballed on me.
The only thing im keeping from my old PC is my ASUS GTX 780 Ti
All components have been delivered except some cabling stuff.

    Build components:
Case: Silverstone Fortress 2 + Custom Dustfilter thing
    CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K Skylake
Mobo: ASUS Sabertooth z170 mark 1
    GPU1: ASUS GTX 780Ti
    GPU2: EVGA GTX 780Ti
Memory: Corsair Dominator Platinum - DDR4 - 16 GB (4x4GB) - 2133 MHz  (i originaly got 2X8 GB of hyperX fury but the two empty slots looked so sad with no stuffing)
    Storage1: 1 Kingston HyperX Predator M.2 SSD - 240GB
    Storage2: 1 Crucial MX200 SSD 2.5" - 500GB

    Watercooling components:
    Radiator - Alphacool NexXxoS XT45 3x180mm (560mm)
GPU -  EK - FC780 GTX Ti - copper version Bought on two different occasions they stopped making these
so the second one is the nickel version
    GPU - EK - FC780 GTX Ti - Acetal+Nickel
CPU - EK - Supremacy EVO - Acetal
    Resevoir - EK - RES X3 110
Pump - EK - XTOP Revo D5 PWM - Acetal
Between GPUs - EK- FC Terminal DUAL Serial 3-Slot
    Using PETG Hardline tubing.

I'm well into the build and currently waiting for some icelandic sleeving for my cables.
Here is a picture of the Silverstone FT02 sitting in the custom dustfilter thing,
as well as some 3d files that i am using to machine the nvidia logo and letters.
    Actual modding photos coming soon.
