  1. I am not very familiar with unRaid however I have worked extensively with Proxmox and this seems similar to an issue I had with a project running that. It may be worth looking into IOMMU mapping and seeing if your running into any architecture issues with your platform. My issue boiled down to the PCIe lanes being mapped weird between my servers individual NUMA nodes resulting in only the host OS being able to properly address the additional graphics card. This was on a dell Power Edge system that's I believe was running the same generation of CPU you have in your server equipment from HP. I would hope this is not the issue, though I suppose it could be possible that it is a technical limitation of the generation. Sorry for the less than helpful response, hope it can at least guide you in the right direction perhaps. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be around soon for ya though!
  2. Just in case you find the part picker website to be a bit to much I made a starter point for you. As expected you can really stretch that budget further purchasing elsewhere. Assuming you feel alright with self assembly. Happy to help with any questions you may encounter along the way. I picked out equivalent or better components to what was listed above. Particularly in regard to the better version of the CPU you had before and a branded SSD to ensure you have reasonable and reliable storage. It also includes a power supply from a reputable company. Anytime a company doesn't specify the brand of the components that they use in your build you can almost guarantee that they are price shopping for the lowest cost solution. Hope this is of some help! Part Picker: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qLYp78 Price: 1435.01 (USD)
  3. Watch out as the CPU and motherboard that you are interested in does not support DDR4 memory as selected in your part list. For first time builders a tool like PC Part Picker might be a good idea to ensure all your parts are compatible. Still always recommend double checking manually but it would be a good start at least. It's never fun when you get a big box of components and one incompatibility sets back the whole project. Other components look to be alright though given your use case. You mentioned that your budget is around 2k so it might be worth getting a slightly beefier GPU as it could sure make a difference in your day to day. I currently use a 3080 and am plenty happy with my 1440p ultra wide. Depending on the type of display your are looking to run and particularly target refresh rate your mileage may vary.
  4. To help a bit in case you haven't used one before or don't know where to start searching I found a few local listings in my area that are pretty typical from my experience. Just search up any of the listed terms and you should find some interesting deals. Sometimes people are not the best about putting the specific components they have and you might have to do a bit of digging. 5. I recently upgraded from an i7-4790 that was for the longest time rocking just a GTX960 as well. I had awesome success with upgrading it to a 1070 and even had an NVMe drive booted using a riser card. Not the most eye catching build but certainly rocked most games for sure. I flipped the PC on a local marketplace for about 500 total with all the storage I had in it. I think using a local marketplace would be a great way to find some excellent deals on hardware that is a few generations old. A complete system that is a few generations old may only cost a few hundred depending on how far back you are willing to go.
  6. Hey everyone! Been a while since I was any bit active in the community as I was restrained to a fairly weak laptop and couldn't look at all the great hardware. Super happy to be rejoining the enthusiast community with a fairly decent build. Purpose: This system was built with the primary purpose of being my primary content creation / gaming rig while also having the power to run some basic server instances for the gaming communities that I operate. Hardware: CPU: Ryzen 9 5950x 4.0 GHz base overclock (16x32 core/thread) RAM: 64 GB 3200MHz CL16 (T-Force Vulcan Z TLZGD432G3200HC16FDC01 x 2 kits) Motherboard: Gigabyte X570 UD (Not the best but it is a start) Graphics Card: Zotac RTX 3080 Trinity Power Supply: Corsair RM1000x Case: Lian Li Lancool One Storage: 2x Samsung 980 Pro 2TB 1x Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500GB 2x PNY CS1311 2.5'' SATA III 960GB (Not great but only used for overflow game storage) 2x Seagate Exos X14 ST10000NM0478 10TB 7200 RPM 256MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive (In RAID 1, used for backups and mass storage) Conclusion: I know that there are several areas of improvement that would benefit my workload however it is ultimately a build of opportunity. Many of the parts I scored from local deals at a fraction of their retail price. Some components have also been scavenged from my other servers in my homelab. I am very interested to see what the community thinks as this is certainly one of the nicer build that I have had the pleasure of making. I am planning on upgrading to a pair of nicer monitors and designating my existing ones for my side monitoring displays. As for now I have a pair of HP Professional displays that are fairly color accurate and an older dell on the side that is used to monitor thermals and Discord of course.
  7. That is so true, it is a shame to treat them as such. I will certainly be looking into getting one for them in the near future. Maybe something to elegantly hanging them from below since I am short on desk space.

  9. I know you said you reinstalled the drivers in safe mode but have you by any chance tried to start up in safe mode with networking? Perhaps a rogue process in the background is causing the issues.
  10. I would go for the CPU upgrade first. While you will need to buy more components than just a CPU it will make the most noticeable difference in day to day use. I just recently upgraded to the 1600 from an 8320 and the difference is crazy. It though I would need to upgrade my GPU soon but even my GTX 970 performs immensely better.
  11. I just tried this with an old code that I previously used for Skyrim and it states the same thing. You may need to try it on a secondary account to see if the code is still valid.
  12. It should work with no issues. You will likely need to use a DVI to VGA adapter though as most modern hardware no longer include a VGA connector. If this display works well for your needs you don't really need to upgrade. Though if you have room in your budget a more modern display may make for a more enjoyable experience.
  13. Awesome thank you. Can't beat the price of $7.00
  14. I see. That will definitely be on my list of upgrades to do soon. I mostly use my ultrawide for work stuff and general use and switch over to my tv to game so that has helped me survive with the 970 so far.
  15. Is the V8 an ok cooler or would I be better off getting something newer? I would lovd to purchase that ram kit however I'm having to do this today/tomorrow so I'm limited to what i can price match in store.
  16. Not at this time, I'm just really bad with the website apparently. Right now i am just buying CPU, RAM and Mobo from a local store.
  17. Thank you for the response. Not sure why I selected those when I made the second list, definitely can't buy those. I'm just going to blame it on the lack of sleep.
  18. Up until this morning I have been holding on to this system: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/33CGCy It has served me well through several upgrades over the years but has been going through a slow death over the last few months. Starting with the top PCI-E slot no longer working and most recently the loss of what I assume to be the SATA Controller as it can no longer detect any of my internal drives regardless of the port I use and reseting the CMOS. It will however boot from USB I have not been able to save anywhere near as much as I would have liked to replace this system so I will be recycling many of my old components for the next month or two until I can afford suitable replacements. Just looking to make sure that I am not making a terrible choice with the Mobo and RAM and setting myself up for more issues down the line. I need to get this system back up ASAP for a few projects that I need to finalize tomorrow so my options are a bit limited as we only really have one local vendor with respectable prices. Replacement: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/pnz9M8 Thank you for any feedback in advance.
  19. Let me know how it works out. Sometimes these FX chips can be a bit.... troublesome.
  20. I am running the same CPU in my system at 4.3 GHz and had a similar issue about a year ago. In my case the issue would only occur if I was moving the computer and had it unplugged for any length of time. Everything returned to normal after replacing the CMOS battery so I feel like that is a good place to start.
