GPU's are around 500 dollars even used on craigslist, anyway we can just make it a 1080p build? thanks for all your help so far!

I don't currently have a desktop, I'd need to purchase a keyboard, mouse, and monitor.

I have a 1300 budget and I am torn between getting a laptop or building a PC. I like the Asus ROG STRIX GL753VE but is it worth the money? Also this seems like a terrible time to build a PC due to the crazy GPU prices, any build suggestions with in my budget?
