  1. ive always loved militairy themed builds and yours looks absolutely amazing! hopefully the next gen BGA socketed boards will be as good as LGA socketed boards so i can create my own
  2. i honestly didnt notice or pay attention to the lens flares that he incorporated in the Star Trek films. people are actually upset that he usues a TON of them but im pretty sure theyre just uber anti-CGI nerds =P
  3. Well seeing as how its being produced by J.J. Abrams, i think it will be as interesting as the new Star Wars films. Hes also producing "Portal" but i felt the need to NOT post that crap in the forums haha! as for the "wall of text", some people may not know the story line so i figured why not read it here. The links were just to provide the proof.
  4. So i was on IMDB tonight, wondering what else Mr. Abrams is going to be getting his hands wet in and i came across THIS: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2697688/?ref_=nm_flmg_prd_2 http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0009190/?ref_=nv_sr_1 It appears that J.J. Abrams will be producing a movie about the Valve "Half-Life" games. Seeing as how this is just and announcement, theres no word on release date and cast. Anyway, just thought i would share this snippet of movie info! The Half-Life series begins in the 2000s, at the fictional Black Mesa Research Facility in New Mexico. Gordon Freeman, a recently employed theoretical physicist, is involved in an experiment analyzing an unknown crystalline artifact; however, when the anti-mass spectrometer beam contacts the crystal, it creates a resonance cascade that opens a dimensional rift between Black Mesa and another world called Xen, causing monsters to swarm Black Mesa and kill many of the facility's personnel. Attempts by the Black Mesa personnel to close the rift are unsuccessful, leading to a Marine Recon unit being sent in to silence the facility, including any survivors from the science team. Freeman fights through the facility to meet with several other scientists, who decide to travel to the alien dimension to stop the aliens. On Xen, Freeman eliminates the alien "leader" and is confronted by the G-Man, who offers Freeman employment before putting him into stasis.[2] Back in Black Mesa, a second alien race begins an invasion, but is stopped when a Marine corporal, Adrian Shephard, collapses its portal in the facility. The G-Man then destroys Black Mesa with a nuclear warhead, and detains Shephard in stasis. Barney Calhoun, a security officer, also escaped from the facility with Dr. Rosenberg and two other scientists. Nearly twenty years later,[2] Half-Life 2 opens as the G-Man brings Freeman out of stasis and inserts him into a dystopian Earth ruled by the Combine, a faction consisting of human and alien members, that used the dimensional rift caused at Black Mesa to conquer Earth in the interim. In the Eastern European settlement City 17, Freeman meets surviving members of the Black Mesa incident, including Isaac Kleiner, Barney Calhoun, Eli Vance and his daughter Alyx Vance, and aids in the human resistance against Combine rule. The Xen aliens, the Vortigaunts, who have been enslaved by the Combine, also assist the resistance. When his presence is made known to former Black Mesa administrator and Combine spokesman Wallace Breen, Freeman becomes a prime target for the Combine forces. Eventually, Freeman sparks a full revolution amongst the human citizens after destroying Nova Prospekt, a major Combine base and troop-production facility. Eli Vance and his daughter are subsequently captured by the Combine, and Freeman helps the resistance forces attack the Combine's Citadel to rescue them, fighting alongside Barney. Freeman fights his way through the Citadel, making his way to Breen's office. He is temporarily captured, but freed by Dr. Mossman, along with Eli and Alyx. Breen attempts to flee in a teleporter, but is presumed dead after Freeman destroys the dark energy reactor at the Citadel's top. The story continues with Half-Life 2: Episode One, as the G-Man then arrives to extract Freeman before he is engulfed in the explosion, but is interrupted when Vortigaunts liberate Freeman from stasis and place both him and Alyx Vance at the bottom of the Citadel. Alyx then contacts her father, Eli Vance, and Isaac Kleiner, who have escaped the city into the surrounding countryside. Kleiner informs them that the reactor's core has gone critical due to the destruction of the dark energy reaction, and is at risk of exploding at any moment, an explosion which could completely destroy City 17. To delay the explosion they must enter the Citadel's now-decaying core and attempt to stabilize its primary reactor while the citizens evacuate the city from a train station. While inside, they discover that the Combine are attempting to speed up the destruction of the reactor, and use the destruction of the Citadel to call for reinforcements from the Combine's native dimension. After downloading critical data, they move through the war-torn city to the train station to take the last train out of the city. The Combine then destroy the reactor and thus both the Citadel and the city; the resulting explosion causes the train to derail. Half-Life 2: Episode Two begins as Freeman awakens in one of the wrecked train cars with Alyx outside. In the distance a forming super-portal is visible where the Citadel used to stand. They begin a journey through the White Forest to a resistance-controlled missile base in the nearby mountains. Along the way, Freeman and Alyx are ambushed and Alyx is severely injured. However, a group of Vortigaunts are able to heal her. During the healing ritual, Freeman receives word from G-Man, indicating that the Vortigaunts were keeping him at bay. G-Man demands that Freeman take Alyx to White Forest as safely as possible, saying that he cannot help as per restrictions he has agreed to. They are able to reach the resistance base and deliver the data, which contains the codes to destroy the portal as well as information on the Borealis, an enigmatic research vessel operated by Black Mesa's rival, Aperture Science; however, the ship disappeared while testing portal technology. The base then launches a satellite that is able to shut down the super-portal, cutting off the Combine from outside assistance. However, as Alyx and Freeman prepare to travel to the Arctic and investigate the Borealis, they are attacked by Combine Advisors, who kill Eli Vance, before being driven off by Alyx's pet robot, D0g. 5. My thoughts exactly. Bigger case = better airflow. And with the plexy on the mobo tray, its gonna look insanely clean. I might even put a panel on the bottom to cover the holes and what not from the HDD cage. EDIT: And im not too sure why my pictures have gone the way of invisibility. Must be a glitch or something.
  6. So after 6 months of playing with this little machine, ive come to the conclusion that the Fractal Design Node 304 is NOT a case meant for housing high end gaming components. The cooling in this thing absolutely sucks. It sucks so much that i have permanently left the cover off of it just so it can breath. So yes, im looking to upgrade. My first option is the Cooler Master Elite 130 ITX case The front mounted AIO cooling solution is what makes this case so much more attractive than the Node 304. Plus it has the little fan to cool off your VRM heatsink which is what is overheating when i overclock passed 4.2. The next option is something that might look a little bit funky but it will have the best cooling option. The Cooler Master N200 has LOADS of options that mini ITX cases dont but youre sacrificing a small footprint. With the N200, i could mount any 240mm radiator in the front in push pull, thus enabling a higher overclock and adding a 120/140mm fan at the top to blow air over the VRM heatsink keeping to nice and cool. Since i am using a mini ITX board, another idea is to cover the unused motherboard tray with black painted acrylic. I only use one drive and with its 2.5" form factor, it will fit on the front motherboard tray along with an SSD upgrade. Note that the HDD "cage" will be removed to make for a more cleaner look. Anyway, let me know what you think guys!!
  7. I own the QE as well but im still skeptical with new tech. if it is worth it then i will probably shell out the dough.
  8. i guess you could try? does the case have mounting for 2 120s on the bottom?
  9. was having an interesting conversation in @slickpc's Twitch stream chat about the upcoming Nvidia G-Sync tech and a few followers in the chat mentioned that this ASUS monitor will allow you to upgrade it with the G-Sync board when it becomes available. you can find the article HERE from Blur Busters. my questions is, do you really need that mod in an already GREAT gaming monitor? how many of you own this monitor and would you be willing to pay for the upgrade?
  10. nevermind! if youre using an h100i, mount it to the bottom and have it exhausting air out the bottom, put some fans in the roof for intake and call it a day! fans in the roof will help cool your GPU so its a win win.
  11. hmmmmm, are you willing to do a little cutting and pasting? I.e, re-riveting panels?
  12. you could always take out the rivets and put the layout of the mobo tray back to normal? its a rather easy mod unless the entire case changed.
  13. Guild Wars 2, BF BC2, BF3, Crysis 1/2, Hellgate London, Borderlands 1/2, Marvel Heroes, Saints Row 3, Unreal Tournament 3 and all others, Fallout New Vegas, Diablo 1/2/3, Mass Effect 1/2/3, Titan Quest and Metro 2033 are the games i play on PC. I also have all generations of nintendo with too many games to count. Does this make me a gamer? =P
  14. OP ROG build looks the best. Its simple and yet perfect for overclocking and the gamer enthusiast. Super clean and super fresh. That Prodigy looks like satans vomit.
