  1. I'm not sure. I looked around the bios and didn't see anything about UEFI.
  2. But how do I do that if it is booting from it, and not detecting the ssd outside of the bios?
  3. So just yesterday I got my parts in for my new computer and started building. I bought an ssd, but not a hard drive, because I was going to reuse the hard drive from my old computer. I wanted to make the ssd the boot drive for the new computer, so I factory reset the hard drive, and plugged the ssd into my old computer, and cloned windows to the ssd. I then moved the ssd to the new computer, and it booted from the ssd. My plan was to then move the hard drive over to the new computer, and then format it on there (pretty sure that's what I have to do to wipe windows off the drive). However whenever I plug in the hard drive, it will not boot off of the ssd, and it won't even detect the ssd in file explorer. I went into the bios and changed the boot priorities, to have the first boot option be the ssd. And when I go to save and exit, it says that I haven't made any changes to the bios settings. And even when I do a boot override to the ssd, it still boots to the hard drive. Does anyone know what I'm doing/did wrong?
  4. I recently bought the Asus - STRIX B350-F AM4 motherboard, and me being the smart person that I am, didn't check Crossfire and SLI support. After I bought it I checked this and saw that it supports Crossfire, but not SLI. For my new build, I was thinking about buying a 1070 8GB, and if I needed more power in a few years, I could add another. But since the motherboard that I bought doesn't support SLI, I can't do that. So would it be a better idea to buy a new 1070 8GB or to reuse my RX480 4GB that I already have, and buy another one, using them in crossfire, since the motherboard does support that? I need the computer to run games like CS:GO, PUBG, and Overwatch preferably very well, and I am going to be going to school for film making, and want to have good render times and all that. Any advice on which is the better option taking into account pricing, benchmarks, and longevity of the relevance of the card/s? Thanks for the help.
  5. I've seen stuff like that, I'll probably end up doing that, it sounds so cool!
  6. So in a few months I'm going to be doing a build in an NZXT s340 Elite, and I am currently taking an engineering class, in which we have access to laser cutter and such tools and machines. The teacher has told the class that glass can be engraved, and I don't see why tempered glass couldn't be as well. So I'm wondering if anyone has engraved a tempered glass side panel successfully that came out well. Thanks for the help.
  7. Hi, I'm looking at the NZXT S340 Elite as the case for my new build, and have been looking at reviews online for specific details other than, "It's good." One that I found (I can't remember where it was) said that the thermals in the case aren't that great because on the front panel, the only vents for air are on the top and bottom. This means that the bottom and top intake fans get the most airflow, but that isn't that necessary, because the bottom fan just blows into the PSU shroud, and the top fan blows air past the CPU, which already has it's own dedicated cooler attached. This causes the middle fan, to not receive nearly as much airflow for the middle of the case, to cool the GPU. So my question is, are there any people here who personally use the S340 Elite, with air cooling that could give me an idea of how the thermals are in the case from their experiences with it? Thanks for the help!
  8. This is the list I have right now based on what people have told and showed me. Let me know what you guys think! https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Tuffs_/saved/ByFwP6
  9. Thanks man, this looks great! This will definitely be one of the lists I heavily look at The one thing I'm wondering though is if I get a 1080, would it be worth it for me to stretch my budget a bit and go for a slightly better CPU? How much of a difference would it make?
  10. At the moment, I personally use Adobe Premiere, but I don't know for sure what programs I will be using in the future.
  11. I am going to be using it for gaming as well as video rendering and all that stuff since I'm planning on going into film making and editing.
  12. EDIT: This is the list I'm looking at now, based on the feedback I've received: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Tuffs_/saved/ByFwP6 Hi, just a warning: I have built a computer before, and understand building itself fairly well, but this is the first time I've had to actually pick parts (I've build 2 computers, 1 for a friend, and 1 from a bundle for myself). I am going into my senior year of high school, and I want to use the money I have right now to build a computer that will last me through most, if not all of college. So I've made 2 lists. An Intel list, and an AMD Ryzen list, and I need help deciding, and possibly changing the list/s. I am willing to change anything based on feedback, however, I'd like to keep the motherboard, and case in each at the very least. Also, I am not actually buying the power supply and hard drive in the lists. Those are 2 parts that I am going to reuse from my current computer. The color theme of the computer is White and Blue, and I'd like to keep the total price below $1250-$1300 (USD) if possible. Current PC Specs: -AMD A10-7860K -GIGABYTE F2A78M-HD2 -AMD XFX RX 480 4GB -2 Sticks of 8GB DDR3 HyperX Fury RAM -Rosewill ARC-M650 Intel List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6MVCRG AMD Ryzen List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/v7RHm8 Note: If I go with the AMD list, I might consider not upgrading my graphics card at all, and reusing my current GPU. This would make the computer not as good for as long, but it would hugely cut the price down to $775, however, it could cause a need for an upgrade while I'm at college, which I don't want to do. Thanks for all the help! I'm super excited about making this computer, and I can't wait to hear what advice you guys have for me.
