  1. So when there's a double pin plug for power switch/ground, and it's unspecified which side is which.....it doesn't matter?
  2. Motherboard: STRIX Z270E GAMING Case: PH-ES515PTG_BK So I'm connecting the plugs into the pins. The plugs have labels on one side. It doesn't specify whether labels go up or down but through some deduction I figured the top row was labels up and the bottom row was labels down. I was pretty happy with this until I encountered the HD audio cable which had a group plug that was keyed in one direction that had the label facing down. So I find this a bit confusing. I don't want to mess up the arrangement for fear of a short (I don't know what would happen). Any thoughts?
  3. Thanks for the replies. I guess I was concerned about the competence of building a computer and then subsequently shipping a fully built unit in the mail. The whole idea makes me uneasy. Is their packaging really that good?
  4. I've heard mixed things. What is their track-record for making custom computers?
  5. Specifics aside, I'm looking to run titles like I mentioned in my OP. I'm very much out of the loop for what is expected with modern hardware. I'd obviously like to run these titles as optimally as possible. The resolution would depend on the monitor and video card. As for frame rate I'm assuming 60 fps is middle of the road? I'm careful to be much more specific than that because I don't know what is reasonable with hardware these days
  6. Thanks for the quick replies so far. My budget is absolute most 3000, would like to spend less obviously. I need a monitor as well so I'm just being realistic. I think I will probably go with a pre-built but as I said, I have zero idea what I'm even looking at here. I don't need the absolute bleeding edge parts, I feel like that is going to really jack up the price
  7. Ok, so I'm looking to buy a new gaming desktop. I'm Canadian, so I've been looking on sites like NCIX and my price limit is around 3000. My initial reaction is being completely overwhelmed with the amount of hardware and I'm very out of the loop. I was thinking of using a site like NCIX to design my own but I know enough that without having intimate knowledge of part compatibility I could very easily design something that was deeply flawed. Which lead me into the area of pre-built systems and this was equally confusing as prices wildy range and I'm not quite sure how much I should be expected to spend. I did some poking around different literature online and got the impression that spending anything over 2000 was just ridiculous. So I guess I should clarify that I'm looking for something to play rather high-end titles like The Witcher 3 and Prey. I would like something that was of quality and not totally obsolete in a year. Upgradable is a huge plus. Fancy cases are great but only if it doesn't jack the price up 500 bucks. So yeah, I would love any recommendations on quality pre-builds or any tips for design. What should I realistically look to spend? Good sites for buying and prices? This is a lot, but I feel lost. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you for reading
