  1. I'm thinking so too. Weird thing is, it only turns off the one screen I'm gaming on and not my other two
  2. Lately my computer has been acting up. It only happens when I game, and doesn't seem to care what I play. Within the first hour of gaming, my screen will go black for a second, and then come back. Does it typically twice, but then it's fine for hours of gaming after. Sometimes it will just shut off the computer completely, no blue screen. This all happens in the first hour or so, and then everything is fine. I've also had one game just crash on me (Guild wars 2) and it didn't do any crash report like it should. When I look at event logs for when my computer turned off randomly I see a Kernel-Power source report, ID 41. Could it be my PSU, GPU, or motherboard that is having power related issues? If so, how do I figure out which one it is without replacing them one by one?
  3. Figured it out. I was incorrect in what monitor was plugged in with each method. The problem was the adaptor and cable used for the converted signal. The cable being used was 1.3 HDMI, and the converted didn't allow for anyhting over 60hz. Skipped the converter and it works fine now
  4. Ok. Here are the abundance of deets. The 3 monitors I just got are VG27AQ. The three connections and their hz when I go to windows display options are: GPU Display port to Monitor Display port: 144hz GPU Display port converted to HDMI and into Monitor HDMI: 144 hz GPU HDMI to Monitor HDMI: 60 hz Everything I've ever heard is that the HDMI cable itself doesn't affect anything, but you two are saying the opposite?
  5. How can I check the level of hdmi cable? Though the 2 display ports are being used, one of the is being converted to displayport. So either the gpu doesn't support it or something else. I guess it could be the cable, but I've never heard the cable being an issue.
  6. Just upgraded to 1440 monitors and I was changing the advanced display settings. 2 of my monitors are plugged into displayports on my 1080ti, but the third is on hdmi. one of the display ports that is plugged into converts to hdmi. I am able to change the two using display port to 144hz, however the one plugged into hdmi I don't have any options over 59.951. Am I just screwed since I don't have 3 display ports?
  7. I currently have a 3 monitor setup I'm wanting to upgrade to 1440p on each monitor, and 27" (currently 1080p and 23"). My main problem with my current setup (besides res and size) is that the middle monitor is a completely different brand (so it can be 144hz). This causes the colors to be very different. I'm looking for basically 3 monitors that are 27", 1440p, but come in different hz. Otherwise they would be exactly the same, especially color. Is this a stupid/impractical idea and should I just bite the bullet and get 3 higher hz monitors? Looking to save from spending money I don't have to.
  8. Gotcha. It's looking like 2800 isnt really sold anymore anyways. So I might just go for a fresh 32gigs at 3200.
  9. I currently have 16 gigs (2x8) in my pc. I was thinking about adding another 16 but the original ram I bought is no longer sold on newegg. I know it's important to get similar ram, so my main question is what numbers do I need to make sure I match? I figure the speed (in this case 2800) should be the same, but how important are the timings and CAS Latency? Will having different ram affect using the built in OC profile?
  10. Reallocation event count is 100 for each, threshold 3. The drive is it's own full drive. It's a kingston SV300S37A240G according crystal disk (been a while since I put it in)
  11. First time ever using this so I hope I provide all the info you want.. for my C drive it says Good, 100%. Some other stats that seem interesting: Raw Read Error Rate Current, 95, worst, 95, threshold 50. Retired Block Count, Current 100, worst 100, threshold, 3 Reported Uncorrectable Errors, Current 100, worst 100, threshold 0 SSD Life Left Current 100, Worst 100, threshold 10. Power on Hours, 23426. Power on count 2435. I went to function and did rescan to get these. Is there anything in particular I should be looking for?
  12. Small update of my attempts to fix it. I ran a windows memory diagnostics. Came back clean. Just did a 'sfc /scannow' in cmd line. It said it found corrupt files and successfully repaired them. Why didn't chkdsk find these?
  13. I did this for the C drive and it seemed to work for a little bit. I was able to game no problem. Then suddenly today I got three crashes back to back and it sent my computer into recovery mode or whatever on start up. Each time I got different error codes. The second two crashes happened nearly right away after boot up. I went straight to event log to try to find out what happened, and in the process it crashed. Not sure if that was the blame since I did it right after boot. The bugchecks in order of crashes are (for some reason I can only find 2 for today): 0x0000001e (0xffffffffc0000005, 0xfffff80355aa58e8, 0x0000000000000000, 0x000000000000002f). 0x0000004e (0x0000000000000006, 0x000000000034452b, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000005520000). I've also encountered the follow in the last week: 0x0000007f (0x0000000000000008, 0xffffc90149f6f190, 0x00000000000000f8, 0xfffff8000b0bbeb2). 0x0000000a (0x0000000000000969, 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000001, 0xfffff8023ce9b90f). 0x0000000a (0x00000000418b4944, 0x00000000000000ff, 0x0000000000000000, 0xfffff8026dac0903). This is really starting to get on my nerves to say the least. Could it be the drive itself is failing physically? It's an SSD and not the newest one, but not terribly old either. Or could it be ram?
  14. This started around the time I had to update my computer to play MCC (for some reason it wouldn't let you pick up weapons unless you had up to a certain W10 update). I checked my last crash in the event log and I got the following: The bugcheck was: 0x0000004e (0x000000000000008d, 0x00000000003ff382, 0x0000000000410001, 0xffffbb87d3908f60). I believe that the 04e and 8d points me to a hardware issue, but I don't know what the other numbers mean. Trying to find out exactly what the cause is and how I can fix it (assuming it is hardware and w10 isn't being stupid because of updates).
  15. It's just some random one from Best Buy for the UPS. I use a bequiet dark pro 11 for the PSU. I think I'll just get this on my way home tomorrow and I should be ok I believe. https://www.amazon.com/CyberPower-CP1500AVRLCD-Intelligent-Outlets-Mini-Tower/dp/B000FBK3QK/ref=sr_1_5?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1510632692&sr=1-5&keywords=UPS&dpID=41ZpxIiuVVL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch&th=1 Only from Best Buy on price matching.
  16. Ok. What Wattage would you recommend? Should I just go all the way and find something that goes over 650W?
  17. I'm not 100% sure. Looking at the bottom I have two outputs. The one that seems most relavent says 120V~ 5.42A, 50/60Hz 650VA/375W. Which makes me think it's not enough.
  18. So I started playing Battlefront 2 (and this did happen for a brief moment in Mad Max as well) and my UPS started making it's "I've got no power" screaming sound I'm sure many of you are familiar with. I've got a 1080ti and a 8700k @ 4.8ghz for my build, with a 650w PSU. Only the tower and one monitor is plugged into the battery side of the UPS, with a monitor a speakers plugged into the other side. Here's some of the facts of when it happens, and what I know about the UPS. It happens right when the EA logo starts up on the game, which is when I think it's loading the most intensely. The second I click and skip the little starting thing the UPS stops screaming. However, when I get to the menu it starts back up (sometimes). It's been a while since I bought this unit, so I don't know all the facts about it, or what might be relevant, but it does say 650VA on it. I know that the computer PSU will try to provide 650w, but is it attempting to overdraw from the UPS? I don't see how though because according to HWinfo the GPU is maxing at 266W, cpu package and IA cores are maxing at 103w and 99w. So I know it's not drawing max by any means. Whats weird is it does just fine in the game, it's only on this loading screen, the menu, and when I select character in battle, that it does it. To top it off, it's sometimes random in that it doesn't do it at all in the menus. Is it my UPS? If so what should I look for? If not, then what is it, the outlet? It's a typical household outlet in a fairly modern home (built in '09).
  19. Working on my overclock for my new 8700k and I'm not sure which to pay attention to. The cores have an average of low 70s while the package has an average of 81. This is via hwinfo during an Aida 64 test.
  20. I know how P95 will cause much higher temps then normal, but what about Aida? How much higher temp wise is it compared to a normal gaming session? (Keeping in mind I'll be using a rog strix 1080ti (non blower) and an air cpu cooler)
  21. I've no reason to use P95 for anything but stress testing, so I can't see myself as a normal user. Good to know I should just stick with Aida then. Having not used Aida, how should I test using it?
  22. I keep reading that Prime 95 causes extra heat and other issues depending on the version, but can't find anything on the actual version or any solid advice either way. I also hear that Aida 64 stresses the cpu in a "different way" and it may not be enough, but cases less heat. I'll be overclocking my 8700k with a Gigabyte Gaming 5 and NH-D15 if it makes a difference. What is the best way I should go about testing a 5ghz OC?
  23. I'm getting the gigabyte z370 gaming 5 for my upcoming build. It comes with one antenna of unknown length and quality. The board itself though has two plugs for antennas. So this brings me to ask, would it help if I got another antenna? Would it affect my connection at all? Would the length of the antennas affect much either? Is there any difference in quality from one antenna to another? Sorry for so many questions. I've been a USB wifi adaptor person up to this point and this is my first motherboard with built in wifi.
  24. It is my understanding that the 8700k would be better. However, it is nearly impossible to get it at this time. Not to mention more expensive. Up to you how you weigh those two factors.
