  1. Nothing to do with High Sierra. HP does not support the system, since it is too old. There are no more BIOS upgrades I can do. The CPU cannot boot. I should have checked earlier, but my motherboard supposedly does not support anything above the Q6600.
  2. This is not just hackintosh. Windows won't boot either.
  3. I am not sure. I would have to reinstall windows on the Q6600
  4. I have bought an old HP desktop- the Pavillon a6152n. 8GB RAM (DDR2) Q6600 (LGA775) 8400GS I bought a CPU (Q9400) so I can run MacOS High Sierra on it. High sierra requires instruction set SSE4.1, which the 6600 does not include. However, my PC refuses to go past the HP logo. I removed the HDD and inserted a windows install USB, but still nothing. It worked before on the Q6600.
  5. There was no HDD included. I am buying a 320GB hard drive. I don't really mind having a mechanical disk. I think the time that it takes to post takes longer than my nvme ssd does(on my new laptop) to boot. The ram is 8GB DDR2. There are no 4GB modules (non ecc) of DDR2, only 2GB. I am at the max of 8GB. The speed is 1066 MHZ (PC2-8500) but my motherboard only supports 800(ish) MHZ. Edit: Someone already upgraded it before I bought it. The RAM has beefy metal heatsinks and they replaced the OEM PSU with a non shady one.
  6. I had no idea that was possible. Thank you I'll probably wait for the mining stuff to crash and buy a cheaper GPU then
  7. I found a few GTX 580 deals for under $100. I am trying to see if I can do a $150 gaming PC. Should I buy an overclocking supported motherboard?
  8. HP motherboard does not allow overclocking. I want to run a better graphics card (like a 1050 or equivalent).
  9. I just bought an old HP desktop at a local thrift shop for $20. HP-Pavilion GC672AA-ABA a6152n 8GB DDR2 RAM Actual Silverstone 550W PSU Nvidia 8400GS Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Currently, I would like to buy a "top of the line" LGA 775 CPU (listed here) What CPU(s) would be compatible? I am worried that xeons are not supported on my motherboard. (There is no motherboard ID)
  10. I just got a new iPad 5 (2017) and I noticed that camera modules are fairly cheap. Is it possible for me to switch out the original camera with one from the iPad 12.9 inch? Both cameras have 15 pins on each side, but I am not sure if they are compatible.
  11. Right now I see the logo (a circle arc and a dot moving across it) but it seems to be booting forever.
  12. Restarted again and now I am installing the zips. Done in about a min.
