  1. Hi guys So my wraith spire cooler started making a very annoying and rather loud noise. Even when everything else in my PC is quiet, the spire makes an incredibly annoying grinding-ish noise like hrrrrrrrr It's not THAT bad when playing a game because it gets somewhat drowned out by the fans and coil whine from my 1070Ti, but it's enough to drive me mad when I just want to watch a Youtube video or whatever. Nothing is touching the cooler/fan and it's pretty clean. As I said, it's driving me nuts and I'd love it if someone could help me.
  2. Hi guys I'm working on an open air "case" for my PC. I'm wondering if it's a good idea to screw long screws with washers through the bottom of the wooden base that I'm going to use to put through my motherboard and use nuts with washers to hold the board in place. This way I can easily switch motherboard if need be or if I'm just testing something. Another thing I'd like some advice with is how to keep my videocard in place so it doesn't damage itself or my motherboard. I'll attach a model of my idea here too so you guys can look at it and hopefully give me some tips. TL;DR What's the best way to mount a motherboard on wood and still be able to easily swap it out, and how to keep videocard steady when mounting a motherboard on wood. Thanks for your advice everyone Edit: I used tinkercad.com to make my model. When I open the file on windows 10 inbuilt object viewer, the components aren't colour coded. wallmountpc.stl
  3. Hi guys I want to move my pc from my crappy case onto a homemade case to mount on my wall. The idea here is to build something that I can mount on the wall behind my desk and monitors, that looks nice, is compact, and that I can take off of the wall, pick up, and carry with me to a LAN party. I'm using an ATX motherboard and PSU with a large air cooler (Fuma 2) and a gigabyte 1070ti. I still want to be able to use my odd and put at least my ssd and one 3TB HDD in the system. Below are my base layout and some PC that fit the aesthetic I'm going for. If any of you could give me some suggestions or design/layout ideas I would really appreciate it. 7d522d1d4c928d688a00b7cadf1f4e31.jpeg.webp 7d522d1d4c928d688a00b7cadf1f4e31.jpeg.webp PC.glb PC.stl
  4. I tried playing with the fan curve but it's just loud What kind of fans would be good? For quietness and better performance?
  5. Hi guys So I want to upgrade my Ryzen 5 1600 cooler from the stock one since it's started making a lot more noise than it used to even though it is clean. I was thinking about something from Scythe as they are relatively cheap and well performing. I don't know if I should go for the Mugen 5 PCGH, Fuma 2 or Ninja 5. My priority is good temps, then noise. But noise is also very important. I plan to upgrade my cpu to a 3900X or 3700x sometime in the future and I would like the cooler to still be good enough. Which one of the three would be the best choice in my case? Also my GPU fans (gigabyte 1070tj 3 fan) are very loud, especially under load. I definitely do not have the money for water cooling, so I thought I should do a mod where I just put case fans on the heatsink, but I have no idea which fans would be best. I want to run the card with a mild overclock, with silence being the most important thing. Are there cheap 120mm fans that are silent and better than the 3 small fans that are on my card now? I've been looking around but I can't seem to really find any good fan reviews. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  6. So I would another 1 and 3tb hdd? That sounds rather inconvenient Would it be better for my usecase to just install linux on a different smaller hard drive and share the 1 and 3tb hdd as network folders?
  7. I only have those 2 drives as my mass storage. I just want to be able to access the data that's on them via network so I don't have to hear the HDD noise in my desktop. Is FreeNas not a good way to do this?
  8. I managed to set up FreeNas via CD and put it on a 8gb usb stick. I connected the 3tb and 1tb hdds from my main rig to the FreeNas PC. What do I do now? I have LOTS of stuff on both drives. I'm afraid they'll get wiped if I do something wrong. It says that if I create a new pool the disks will be wiped. What should I do? I don't want to lose all my stuff
  9. Hi guys I'm a complete noob with networking and NASs and such and I really need your help. I have an old computer with 2gb ram (can't upgrade) and a core2duo e6600 My main computer has a 1tb and a 3tb hdd in it alongside a boot ssd, but I really hate the noise the hard drives are making, so I want to make it so that I can access my HDDs via ethernet on that old PC. I have windows 7 32 bit on it right now,but I can't seem to get fileshare to work from that PC to my main rig. It won't give me access. I put FreeNas on a usb drive and tried to boot off that so I can install it, but the old PC just won't do it. Just to make sure, I've tested the boot drive on my main rig and it worked just fine, so I guess that's not going to work. If someone here could help me configure that PC as a nas I would be very grateful, but as I already said, I am a complete noob and I don't know what to do. Thanks in advance for your help.
  10. I agree. For right now, an RX570 and sandy bridge or ivy bridge i5 would work very well and has the best value, but I also believe it's a better choice to get a ryzen 2200g with a b450 board and upgrade later when you need it, without needing to replace your motherboard and ram.

    3900X cooler

How much better is an D15 than a Ninja 5?

    3900X cooler

Hello everyone I've been looking around for a while and I can't seem to find a good answer. What cooler do you need to cool a 3900X properly? Would a Scythe Mugen 5/Ninja 5/Fuma 2 be enough to cool a 3900X? Would a mild overclock be possible? Keeping temperatures below 75C or so. Would an Arctic 34 esports duo be enough? Sorry for the odd post but I'm just very curious.
  13. Hi guys So I have had some trouble with gaming headsets. The only ones that I've found to be comfortable were the Logitech G430s, but mine broke a while back, so I bought some Cloud IIs, which after about 2 minutes hurt my ears quite badly, so I returned those and got Corsair HS60, which, for some reason hurt my ears a little bit which I was OK with but it also really hurt my head no matter how I wore them. I have always prefered IEMs in terms of comfort. Are there any IEMs that are reasonably cheap and sturdy that sound better than G430s? Preferably with a decent microphone. If not, what would be a good cheap microphone for discord? Also, I don't have any speakers on my PC right now and my monitor doesn't have them built in so I was also wondering if there are decent VERY cheap speakers for pc (under 15 euros) Sorry for the long post. I'm a complete audio noob and just want decent sound in and out of my computer. Thanks in advance for your advice.
  14. So there is regular DDR2, BUFFERED DDR2 ECC and UNBUFFERED DDR2 ECC? Where can I get unbuffered ecc ddr2?
  15. So do I have buffered ECC RAM?
