StormEye reacted to TLCH723 in MSI GS65 - Custom Vendor Recommendation?
If you are going to do upgrade yourself, then dont get GS65, backward motherboard
There are gentechpc, HIDevolution and dont remember the other.
If you are a notebookreview forum member you can get discount at HIDevolution.

StormEye reacted to dalekphalm in USB Adapter for both Wifi & Bluetooth?
To be fair, the third research result that he linked to, is actually exactly what you're looking for:
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833315160&cm_re=wifi_bluetooth_adapter-_-33-315-160-_-Product
With that in mind, it's a brand I've never heard of, it's limited to Wireless N150 (quite dated), and lastly, because it's a Nano adapter, the signal strength is gonna suck (especially over WIFI).
To be honest, you are much better off simply buying two separate adapters, one for Bluetooth, and one for WIFI - that way you can get a much better and higher quality WIFI adapter over USB, and then get a separate Bluetooth USB adapter.

StormEye reacted to LogicalDrm in Does PWM fan splitter affect fan speed?
Not about volts. It's about amps. Each header is 1A. Fans use 0.25-0.6A. You can safely have 3 per header, as long as combined amps of fans don't exceed that 1A.

StormEye got a reaction from bomerr in external GPU stup for Titan V?
Buying a 3K USD graphics card when you don't even have a high end desktop (getting it later is a moot point).
Shouldn't you be spending 3K USD towards a high end desktop first and get Titan V later?
I mean, no offence, but if you can't afford to buy a high end desktop right now with Titan V, you really shouldn't buy that card,
-
StormEye reacted to LogicalDrm in Does PWM fan splitter affect fan speed?
No. Mobo will deliver full 12V to both fans and use PWM to control them.

StormEye reacted to Bjernhart in Does PWM fan splitter affect fan speed?
I'm currently using a PWN splitter and I can confirm that it does not affect fan speed. You can manualy change the fan curve within the BIOS if you like.

No this should not effect it

StormEye reacted to Oshino Shinobu in Intel Rapid Storage Technology necessary?
Intel RST is used for SSD caching. If you don't have an SSD set up as a cache for an HDD (or another SSD, whatever) then you don't need it. Shouldn't make SATA ports run at 1.5Gbps though, never heard of that before.

StormEye reacted to Damascus in Whats considered quiet good memory to pair with an OC'd 8700K
The optimal cas latency is between 14-16 with ~3200mhz getting diminishing returns. 3600mhz cas 14/15 is the best.

StormEye reacted to thorhammerz in Whats considered quiet good memory to pair with an OC'd 8700K
A kit running at 3200MHz should provide a reasonable level of performance without being egregiously expensive (comparatively... DDR4 memory is expensive, and will likely be even more so next year). If you want kits using Samsung B-Dies go for the ones rated at CL14 (the ones rated at CL16 are usually from Hynix or Micron), for better manual overclocking headroom (and lower latencies even if you don't).
Above 3200MHz and it just becomes a question of how much money you're willing to shell out for the increasingly relative marginal performance gain (or just better benchmark scores). Brand names (e.g. trident Z, corsair, g. skill) are not particularly relevant unless you like the look of one kit over another (or if a particular kit goes on sale): reputable RAM manufacturers provide a lifetime warranty anyways.
It'll only make a small difference in CPU-bound games.

StormEye reacted to DaMainMan in 1440p 144Hz gaming
Honestly I would pass on that monitor. 24 inches is too small for 1440p imo -> 27inch is the 1440p sweetspot and makes the whole gaming experience much better. Also its a TN panel -> the vibrant colors of IPS actually makes the upgrade even more worth it.
When I was recently in your position, I chose a 1070 and a PG279Q -> I can upgrade my GPU later on when I need more FPS, but I plan on keeping my monitor alot longer.
If you buy that monitor I think you will be dissatisfied with it quite soon.

They may be slightly over $150, but should be a great choice at the price range.

What you guys are forgetting is the most overlooked aspect of high end PCS - their ability to serve as space heaters! NASA in the space station, our Russian comrades will buy them in droves and don't forget those poor sods in Alaska and the territories
After all, if you can get the heat output of a 1080 ti for 1080 prices why not?!?!??!?!

At the moment, you can buy 1080ti (not 1080) with the amount of money you have to spend for Vega 64.
There's no saving grace for Vega 64. Its pretty much DOA.

Those lights should be ASUS Aura Sync, they are RGB and software controllable.
EDIT: Looks like Aura Sync is only for the newer GPUs and not with the GTX 980 Strix.

StormEye reacted to SlaughterSmurf in Why are so many people saying that the savings in power between RX VEGA 64, and a GTX 1080, is massive?
These aren't 1080ti's or Titan X's. They are 2nd tier cards. Cost matters. If someone was Mr. Money bags then they wouldn't be buying these cards. Value matters. $100 over the course of a GPU lifespan is not an insignificant amount of money. It isn't HUGE, but it's worth considering. If someone lives in Australia where price is 4x as expensive, that's almost 50% of the GPU cost. Just in EXTRA power. That's not a small jump. I'm sorry that you don't care about money over time. Some people do, and to some people it matters.

StormEye reacted to Fardin in Why are so many people saying that the savings in power between RX VEGA 64, and a GTX 1080, is massive?
It is not just power saving cost, its also matter that there are already card exist which deliver excellent performance with lower power consumption. AMD did see gtx 1070/1080/80ti's performance & power consumption which was released for a while. so how they had in mind to produce card that is not more power efficient & better performance? I mean when they released Ryzen they showed off how Ryzen beating Intel in multi threaded tasks & performance while maintain close ratio with single thread as well. Ryzen's price to performance is excellent. & For Vega what they were thinking actually or what innovation they brought really? yes Power saving matters cause some place like here it cost like hell . & It doesn't justify a valid point to be okay with such card just because one can afford.
