What model? So long as you have a free PCI-e slot and USB 2.0 header on the new board, there shouldn't be any problems.

This video should help. Basically, all Corsair devices have a 'hardware lighting' profile that takes over when the PC is locked, but you can turn it off pretty easily.

bellabichon reacted to elfensky in Man sues Apple for terminating Apple ID with $24K worth of content
This is a clear example of why a lot of people still prefer physical media, buy consoles with disc-drives or CDs instead of paying for streaming. Stuff like this.
Sure what Apple did was (currently) within their rights... But it sure does leave a sour taste in your mouth, doesn't it?

Music I liked disappeared from Spotify. I know Apple themselves removed movies people bought from their account in the past. There's a reason I stopped paying subscriptions and moved to hosting my own Plex server.

I think there needs to a refactoring of ownership laws concerning digital content. Currently basically all of it is a "license to use", not an actual ownership. And while some licenses might be non-revocable, access to the content certainly is, and keeps being dependent on the service that provides them. And current Copyright laws and DRM can certainly get part of the blame.

I think Apple is actually currently being sued about their wording about "purchasing" movies on iTunes, when it was actually an "extended renter's agreement".

It's pretty funny to me that you criticize Chrome for making money off of personalized ads and data, but isn't Brave free too? How do you think they're making their money? Are they just a completely benevolent charity organization? The whole "if it's free you're the product" slogan has been massively overused, but that's still pretty much the tradeoff.

What's your full spec list? Very simplified, there are two things you want to pay attention to when shopping for RAM: speed (MHz) and CAS latency. These two factors pretty much balance out (i.e. a 3600MHz kit at CL18 will be about as fast as a 3200MHz kit at CL16).

Those are perfectly fine idle temps. Also, you should never be afraid to stress a system, even if you're not 100% confident in the cooling. Modern computers are smart enough to shut down before they get too hot to damage themselves.

Open the Nvidia Control Panel (should be an option when you right click anywhere on the desktop), go to Manage 3D Settings, and change your preferred graphics processor to "High-performance NVIDIA Processor". Alternatively, you could also select which GPU to use on a per-program basis (i.e. if you wanted Google Chrome to use the iGPU to save battery life).

bellabichon got a reaction from MarvintheParrot in 32 inches too big for 1080p?
Yep, increasing screen size but keeping resolution the same will definitely make the image look blurrier, because you'll have fewer PPI (Pixels Per Inch). For a 1080p monitor at a desk, the largest I would go is 27". Any bigger and I think you'd find it uncomfortable to use.

Emulation of current-gen consoles (i.e. PS4/5 or Nintendo Switch) is pretty unusable right now, save for a few titles that have had a lot of optimization work done. Your best bet is grabbing a used PS4 from Craigslist.

bellabichon got a reaction from TheCoder2019 in How SHOULD I start a YouTube Channel?
Either way works. Realistically, your first video probably isn't going to get much traction. But creating a channel trailer or something similar is good way to help plan out what you're going to do.
Definitely. Even if your objective isn't popularity, producing high-quality content isn't easy.
Daily uploads work best with YouTube's algorithm, but if you're not focused on channel growth then it's up to you.
No, but it will take some time to learn how to do it well. There are a ton of different solutions, but if you're looking to learn, grab a free 7-day trial of Premiere Pro and go to town for a bit. There are video tutorials online covering basically every question you could possibly have.
Again, ten minutes or more will perform best in YouTube's algorithm, but it's ultimately up to you.

bellabichon reacted to Fasauceome in Unpopular opinion: Rocket Lake Is Fine
This is just them catching up to AMD, who has offered ram and CPU overclocking on non-premium chipsets since ryzen dropped. AMD went on to get boards that incorporate features like thunderbold (when that became an open standard) and other premium aspects when board partners started taking them seriously. There was only really a lull in features at first gen.

Intel made some big promises for 11th gen. Ultimately it was wishful thinking, leading to no reason for 10th gen owners to upgrade.

Availability is a strong point in Intel's favor. We will see if this continues after the pandemic's effects pass, though.

Once again, them playing catch up to AMD. They're new features, but only new to Intel.

Intel used the "fastest gaming CPU ever" line in their previous marketing, clearly having the best gaming performance is super important to them, and if they would have been able to get the crown back, they would have absolutely done so.

Bad, good, the product quality is relative. Relative to 10th gen, the product is actually the same. But expectations exist, and I find it pretty reasonable to decry 11th gen's release because it doesn't bring anything of real value to the table. If anything it muddied the water (m.2 slots inactive when using 10th gen CPUs on 500 series boards, weird memory frequency locks on 400 series boards, uncertainty continuing on 10nm, etc.) and it can be seen as a step backwards in some ways because of the difficulty in marketing.

I don't think Intel is being unfairly judged. AMD keeps moving forwards, intel keeps moving sideways. Will this last forever? Probably not, so people shouldn't latch on to one brand or the other with their loyalty. But criticizing Intel has looked to be pretty par for the course this generation.
