bellabichon got a reaction from Ashkii in Huawei Buying Gigabyte?!?!
While that's really weird, and pretty funny, I don't think that it's evidence for Huawei planning to buy gigabyte. Also listed under the "Microsites" tab are ASUS, Intel, Micron, etc. Just looks like a web designer playing a prank to me.

If you're not overclocking and don't care about noise...I guess the more expensive one would be fine?
If you're not in a hurry to build we're only about 4 months away from new releases of everything. I'd personally just wait, and grab the newer stuff.

Ehhh the 212 is an old news cooler and not really worth the money at that point.

Thanks for the reply. I was planning to go with the included Wraith cooler, so that seems to be a point in favor of the 3600X. I can always upgrade if it gets too hot, and fan noise isn't a huge issue for me.

If you're not planning to add an aftermarket cooler then the 3600X does have a somewhat better cooler. If you are planning to go with an aftermarket cooler then just go with the 3600 and overclock it like a 3600X.

Try without for now, you may find your temps are high and you need a better cooler to get lower CPU temps. The stock cooler is decent but depending on use and case airflow these variables can negatively affect CPU temps. I had to use a big air cooler with my R7 1700, and now my R7 3800x (runs a lot hotter than the 3700x) but that is because of my use. No harm in trying with just the stock cooler!

AMD isn't going to sell you something that'll cost them more by frying your system. Just try it and if you don't like it upgrage

Depends on your use. If you are overclocking get an aftermarket. If not and not doing CPU heavy workloads such as Video / Audio / Photo Editing then you're most likely okay with stock. Could always try it and if you end up seeing high temps in your daily use then buy one later. A pretty easy park to change after the fact

If I'm not mistaken, this looks like a standard USB-A connector. Please correct me if I'm wrong, though.

Yep, looks like I was right. Just like in the first reference image I linked, the power/data leads are surface mount, while the pieces that hold it to the board are a sort of through-hole hybrid. It's a super common part, so any number of parts should work. Just made sure the part is labelled "SMD" (surface-mount device), and that the mounting 'legs' are at 90 degrees.

In my personal opinion, 1440p 144hz monitors are the sweet spot for both gaming, and productivity. There aren't too many 1440p, 144hz ultrawide monitors, but there is this one from ASUS that looks pretty decent. It's 32", which gives you plenty of real estate for multitasking.

If you really have your heart set on an ultrawide monitor, this is a pretty good looking option. It's 35" diagonally, and still 1440p, but you sacrifice a bit of refresh rate (100hz as opposed to 144).

bellabichon reacted to Ryan_Vickers in Google Stadia in desperate need of promised "negative latency" mode
Reviews are starting to pop up about Google's new service, and they're not good: https://www.washingtonpost.com/video-games/reviews/unplayable-times-magical-others-stadias-dream-is-still-clouds/

Here we can see a game tested using Google Stadia on PC and I dare anyone to call this playable:

I measured the first jump at ~650 ms.

Mobile is not much better (though the article disagrees for some reason).  See for yourself:

I measured this at 270 ms in photoshop.  Yes it's better, but still completely unusable.

As they say, it's early days and there is opportunity to improve, but it just goes to show this is not a miracle product and still suffers from all the pitfalls of game streaming, most notably at this time, latency.

Uhhh, I'm unsure about what you mean by "help". If you want help with planning and designing a new build, we can definitely help you with that.

On the other hand, if you're looking for tech-based handouts, I'm going to have to point you to your local Goodwill, Craigslist or Gumtree.

To be honest, I doubt it. The new Mac Pro starts at $6000, and can go up to $20,000 for a full config. If you've got $20,000 dollars to blow on your computer, I'm betting you also have another $999 in between the cushions of your couch.

How about the TCL 50S425?  It's 50", 4K, cheap ($399.99 CDN), and has all the connections needed in addition to Roku functionality.  It doesn't get the highest marks for picture quality, but it is at least decent for most users needing a budget TV.
